it has been a very dry summer this year here so there is not much point in going in the forest again in search of fungi. at least not yet, right now it's dark and gray outside with a forecast of significant rain later today and tomorrow. so with any luck september and october will be much more 'fungous' than july and august have been. in the west and the north the summer has been unusually wet so it's probably a great year for for fungi foragers in those parts. some years are like that here also, for example in 2024 there were such good conditions that we spent a lot of time in the forest in search of dinner as well as photo subjects. the variety of fungi in such years is truly impressive.
here is a large selection of shots on different walks between july 3rd and august 1st. i'm not going into depth on any of them, this is about the diversity of nature. in my previous posts i have usually focused on individual species that we have found but now showing shots of so many (but far from all) of the species gives a more honest depiction of what it's actually like walking in the forest - what we can see in a good year. of course each year is different. anyway these shots are arranged in chronological order. i have taken all the shots with my S22 phone. in addition to the above shots there is a myriad of tiny fungi to be found that i have not photographed.
