Your eyes need to be open.
Strategy games require thought and planning, and in Splinterlands your thinking needs to be quick. Creating a deck for a match in just a few minutes isn't always that easy. It's true that there are a maximum of 7 choices that you need to make to compose your team, but finding a synergy base between you and combining skills may not be that simple, especially if you haven't played Splinterlands for a long time.
The interesting thing is that in addition to having to choose your team, you'll also have to deal with the battle rules, which will be completely different each time. This is an interesting dynamic for those who like to test their reasoning, think quickly and choose the best monsters and a summoner who can create this synergy and who can work well with the rules in force in battle. You need to see the opportunities, your eyes need to be open to see them.
The battle I brought here today is exactly about this, taking advantage of opportunities. In this battle, there are several interesting points, but the Maneuvers rule brought me an idea and I wanted to take advantage of it in a way that my team would be more offensive. This rule allows a melee monster to attack from the second position, as well as the Reach ability. The second position is privileged in not being targeted by attacks, but a robust monster is still necessary, as it will be the next tank if things don't go as planned. Having this possibility of attack, choosing a monster with Double Strike is always a good option.
But that alone is not enough. In addition to offensive strength, you also need to think about defense, and that's what I did in this battle. I used monsters with Taunt to untap any attacks my offensive monsters could suffer, and with that I would gain more time and cause more damage to my opponent. But I know that this can be difficult to understand, so stay tuned and see how this battle went.
The tank chosen to start this battle fulfilled his role well and dodged some attacks before being defeated. Then my second monster took his position but he would not be the target of all the attacks and this would allow him to still launch his double attacks for some time.
This defensive choice was very important, because with the initial tank, my team was able to withstand the attacks and when the target became the monster in the back row, it was suffering reduced damage from monsters with 5 or more attack. In addition, having a monster that heals was efficient and allowed the tanks to have a longer life.
This was a very interesting battle about how to use the right monsters for the right opportunities. If you can find the synergy of your monsters with the conditions of the match, the chances of victory are much higher.
And here I end this post. Thank you for reading this far and spending some time with my words and thoughts. Until next time!!
