Peace is an illusion. And no matter how tranquil the world seems…. Peace doesn't last long. Peace is a conflict against our very nature. A skin we stretch over the bone, muscle, and sinew of our innate savagery.
The instinct of power and violence spirals inside us like a parasite waiting for a chance to feed on our rage and multiply until it bursts out of us.

War is the only thing we understand and why? Because humanity has spread to the stars. We set out like the ancient sea far to explore the portion of space, no matter how far we venture to the unknown, the worst monster is those we bring with us.

"Mr. Dan, please stay still. You have some serious injuries." The Doctor said as I tried to get a real picture of where I am, trying to get all the strings injected into my body.

"Sir, please stay still or I will call the security." He ordered.

"Where am I? And how did I get here?" I asked with much fury.

"You are in a hospital and had an accident. Were you trying to kill yourself, Sir?" He asked.

"You shouldn't have saved me," I shouted as I lay down on the pillow and closed my eyes.

The whole craziness started before the war with the Uprising and the Government. It was twenty years ago when the word "peace" shouldn't be heard. All that mattered was violence.

I remember how young and innocent I was then before I was abducted by the Uprising group and turned into the monster I am now.

It was on a Saturday, and the sky was red, as it bled for the death of the lost souls. The war between the Uprising and the Government caused many people to be displaced, starvation, and diseases. The fight was against the Government. They wanted to use dead human bodies as war weapons and soldiers easing their memories if they had any.

Imagine seeing your dead brother's body being used without your permission. A body without a soul and mind. That's a perfect killing machine, only controlled by an AI. Many accepted technological advancement but some see it as diabolical. The dead should be at rest and not disturbed, so some group of people came together, calling themselves"The Uprising."

They needed recruitment but people were scared to join. Now, they did it forcefully, abducting the young ones, training them, brainwashing them only to see the government and those in control as the real enemies. Kill to defend humanity, at all cost. I remember the day I was abducted by them.

It was early Saturday morning, as I went out to fetch woods for my mother to prepare the little food we had only to get caught by some group of uprising soldiers doing their morning scouting. They took me to their camp, separating me from my family and everyone that I loved. As they brainwashed me to see them as my only family.

And as time goes by, I grew into the soldier they wanted, "A soldier with no conscience following their commands. I did a lot of things, hurting people against my will, and slowly losing my soul to the dark with no return. "Have I thought of escaping?" Yes! But I get caught, tortured, and left with scars to remember.

Soon, the war was over. The world changes because people paid for the cause of it. I made efforts to locate my family, but there was no one. No one to say, "I am sorry." Now, I am left only with my haunted mind. The thoughts and screaming of people I hurt in the war haunt my mind, breaking every stronghold I thought I had. I can't sleep without a picture of a dead face appearing in my dream. My mind is polluted by my atrocities and the only way to cleanse myself. Is to end my life. End all the pains, loneliness, and regrets. A painless death would be better for a wicked and horrible being like me.

So I took to the streets, confused and talking to myself, as I crossed the road not minding the incoming vehicle because my time was up. As the car sped down the highway, the driver didn't see me in time. But the moment he did, he slammed on the brakes at once. There was a loud scratch as they applied, the rubber tries burnt up the asphalt as the car swerved across the road in a bid to avoid me. And by the time the car got to me, the side door slammed hard against me.

I hurtled through the air and landed hard on the tarred road. My head connected with the concrete and the last thing I saw was the orangey blue sky.

"Sir! Please stay still…"He ordered

"Where am I? And how did I get here?" I asked with a fury voice

"You are in the hospital and you had an accident. You should have been used, but we saved you. Sir! We're trying to end your life?" He asked in a curious tone.

"You shouldn't have saved me."

"Hmmm…. Well, Sir! I guess you have a second chance to rewrite your mistakes." He smiled and left the room.

"Mmmm. A Second Chance?"

The End.
