Last Night - Ink Well Monthly Prompt

Lillian ran through the corridors into an opened door and locked it behind her. She was chased by her fiancé, Greg. Today is their wedding day but Lillian had thought overnight that she doesn't want to spend the rest of her life in the hands of a man she won't be able to call her husband.

Greg had the largest amount of shares in Lillian's father's company. He threatened to take over the company. The only option for which he would allow Anthonio Shapman, Lillian's father to continue to be the director of L & Keys Limited was to make an agreement to give his daughter in marriage to him. It was the most difficult option for Anthonio but he agreed and played along.

Lillian herself reluctantly agreed to the pact because she doesn't want her family heritage to go to the hands of a greedy fellow like Greg.

Soon, they began to court. Greg was good at spending money on Lillian but he finds it hard to tolerate her mistakes. He was violent when addressing her mistakes such that it leaves her emotionally demolished. There had been several abuses on Lillian by Greg. The worst was on their wedding eve. Lillian had booked a room in the hotel for the makeup artist that would make her face up without informing Greg. All of a sudden, he began to nag when he learned that a make up artist was lifted in the same hotel with them.

"Lillian, you had the efontry to bring your scaly-wag friends to the hotel we lodged?". Greg said on top of his voice. His rage had lighted up, ready to explode as usual. Lillian knew him already. She tried to explain what she had done but before she opened her mouth to speak, Greg pounced on her.

That night was supposed to be a joyful one but it turned out to be her worst. She couldn't sleep. Her fears grew and now she was resolved.

" I am not going to settle down with this devil, no way."

She thought out loud to no one in particular. She knew if she took her time to pack her things, Greg would surely catch up with her and so she immediately fled with her passport and hand bag and decided to go on an early honeymoon by herself.

She ran down the empty road trying to look for a cab but all to no avail and when she finally saw one, she started flaring her hands out like a wild animal trying to get attention from the cab driver.

"Where is your destination ma'am?"

The cab man asked politely and she told him to take her to the nearest airport. On getting to the airport, she made sure to go through the check quickly because she knew Greg was very influential and he could get a good hold of her so she needed to be fast.

On getting on the plane, everyone looked at her weirdly and she wondered what might be happening.

"Are you sure she's normal?"

The couple beside her whispered and it made me so confused.

"Look at the slippers she's wearing?"

The nursing mother muttered under her breath and Lillian quickly scanned what she was wearing. Instant shame filled her as she saw she was wearing her bunny ear slippers and pyjamas pants. Her makeup was ruined and smeared on her face. She was sure she probably had lipstick stains on her teeth. She truly looked like a mad woman but as far as she was far away from Greg, she didn't care.

The plane finally landed after so many hours and before she could register what was happening, some women came over and seized her.

"Let me go! Let go of me right now!"

Lillian screamed aloud to the women but they turned on deaf ears.

"I knew she wasn't okay," the nursing mother from the plane whispered.

Lillian was dragged to an interrogation room where she was locked up and she knew it was Greg who was behind it all. He had connections all over the world so she wasn't surprised if he had cut up to her.

She screamed and shouted to be released over and over but no one seemed to pay her any mind. She soon grew frustrated to the point where tears started streaming down her face and she let all her emotions out.

"Today is supposed to be my wedding and what do I get? Being locked up in a room and the possibility of my abusive fiance getting a hold of me"

Angry and frustrated tears started rushing down her cheeks and the door suddenly was unlocked. The women who had dragged her to the interrogation room came in and they were looking at her with so much pity and sympathy.

"That bastard had the guts to lay his filthy hands on you?"

Lillian cried so hard and explained the whole situation to them and at the end, they felt sorry for her and let her go.
