It started with sadness ~The Ink Well Prompt #119 Contest

Under the silent night with the batters of rain hitting the roof. Anita in her room, held the wedding invitation in her hands. The letters glitters under the shining of the bedroom lamp. It is an invite from the Maydess. The Maydes family is known for their kind nature, the joy they bring radiates gentle warmth that could mend the broken hearts of a thousand souls in the town.

Her hands shook with a face filled with sadness as she saw Annabella and Andre. Memories flooded her soul and without thinking further, she marked her acceptance to the invite after a long moment of silence and reminiscences.

Anita had been known to be a quiet and a resolved soul, enjoying nature alone with listening to her favorite music are qualities that could not be taken away from her. This has made many call her all sorts of unpleasant names but that doesn't stop her from being her unique self. But this occasion was one that no one would like to miss.

The Maydes' invite is not one to be ignored, determined to stand strong and fight back her pains, she began to make adequate preparation as she selected a flowing French blue dress that complemented her slim fit body style with silver beaded accessories that would make her shine throughout the event.

A day before the wedding, Anita's happiness was mixed with a sense of discomfort. She wore her flowing blue gown with her stiletto heels and match out for the wedding that had been giving her an uneasy feeling. At the wedding ground, the decoration room left everyone in awe as the Crystal chandeliers shone like a twinkling star from the ceiling sending patterns of light to the floor.

The air was filled with echoes of laughter with humming conversations and clinking of glasses accompanied with different dancing steps.
As the crowd swirled with excitement and laughter, Andre and Anita faces locked eyes across the bustling room. It had been years since their paths had diverged, and the intervening time had etched lines of age and wisdom upon their once youthful countenances.

Anita and Andre, once inseparable, had gone their separate ways after college. Life had taken them on different journeys, each weaving its own tapestry of joy and sorrow. And now, in the midst of a grand celebration, their paths had converged once more.

Immediately she set her eyes on Andre, past memories rushed through Anita as she remembered the lost years they once shared together as lovers. The two lover birds back then in school, their unrealistic dreams of being together, the laughter. All these were lost just one night when Andre broke the news to her that he got a scholarship to pursue his medical career. This had left Anita with a pang of sadness which seemed forgotten until that night she ticked the RSVP to attend the wedding.

Taking a closer look at Andre, Anita could tell that life had taken its toll on Andre. His eyes were dull and weariness could be seen clearly written all over him.

"What I am seeing is enough reason to tell that union isn't what Andre wanted just like he never wanted me. I will find out." She said confidently.

As the night went on, with much merriment and excitement as the couple exchanged their vows and rings. Anita made her way to the isle. She greeted the couple with a beaming smile on her face as they reciprocated. She discovered Andre was wearing that same mask on, a pang of sadness.

As the celebration was drawing near, Andre and Anita got an opportunity to converse, Andre opened up to her on his bittersweet mistake he had made by marrying from the Maydes' family because of their influence and wealth.

"The family is what they are known as but Anabella lifestyle is outside of what the Maydes shares. I never realized this until I proposed and she said yes''.

"She doesn't look the way you describe her, her smile can light the universe and I remember back then in college how you normally say you would only marry someone whose smile can lighten up your mood".

" Yes, I had you in mind but your parents disapproved of us being friends because of religious differences."

"So sorry about that," Anita said.

"I met Annabella in a business conference with the thought that I have found what I was looking for not until I discovered I was signing for my doom."

"Congratulations sir" One of the bodyguards who hid himself to listen to their conversation stepped out. He said and gave the impression of "I didn't hear a word" which they believed.

The bodyguard was Anabella's guardian angel, he played everything he recorded to her and she was remorseful. She never knew her bossy nature and high tone way of speaking was discomforting to Andre. She rushed to the spot and by then Anita had left, knelt down and began to apologize to Andre for all the ways she had behaved in the past that made him feel uneasy. With the sincerity in her voice, Andre pulled her up and hugged her and gave her a kiss with a smile.

The couple with friends including Anita danced. This left Anita feeling better than she felt when she received the invite. She felt more connected to the family and the fear and unease she once had left her leaving her with a heart filled with sweet vibes.
