A Journey of Transformation in Crystaland |- The Ink Well Fiction Prompt 124

In the small, quiet town of Crystaland, there stood an old, small house that had seen the light of years. The white aluminum zinc used in holding up the roof had rusted, allowing water to drop onto the floor of the house when it rained. Everything used to adorn the interior had worn out. This house is what gives the family of Kamsi a means of identity, as it has stood for ages.

This house in the family of Kamsi is one they hold with so much value as it's the first house to be built with blocks to stand in the whole town during the 1990s, built by the first man of the family, their late great-grandfather, whom they didn't come to meet but only heard of. While everything in the house had been damaged, the doorway still stood firm, making it the heart of Kamsi's home.

Joe Kamsi is the first son of his father, the late Ben Kamsi. Joe is a man in his early 50s with a taste for cracking jokes. His dream of becoming a comedian had been like pouring water on a wall. On the other hand, Phyllis, his wife, is a very good cook. Her artistic ability to combine ingredients to deliver a delicious meal is what makes Joe not joke with her; he loves her so dearly. Their son, Cass, is a free but introverted young boy in his adolescence and a creative artist.

One day, while Joe was in the old house, trying to fix the fallen part of the blocks, an idea struck him: "This space is spacious enough to welcome people. "Darling, what if we turn this old house into a restaurant? While you make the delicious dishes and serve them, I will entertain the customers with corny jokes."

"Wow, dad. This is very thoughtful of you. This is an opportunity we shouldn't sleep on," Cass, who was busy with his painting, responded first.

"Yeah, I believe this doorway, which is only used by the Kamsi family, will one day welcome individuals from Crystaland." What's the plan?" His wife asked.

As the family welcomed the opportunity for a change, the old building was demolished and work began. The building was transformed into a cozy and warm restaurant; chairs and tables were arranged, and a stage was set out for entertainment.

The villagers waited in anticipation as words flew like flies about Joe Kamsi's new innovation. The day for the grand opening arrived, and the villagers filled all the seats in anticipation of witnessing the grand opening. The tables were filled with both locally extracted wines, alcoholic beverages, and soft drinks for women. Joe, on the stage, was cracking different jokes, leaving the guests to laugh out their worries.

As the months passed, the restaurant became a place of merriment and a home of laughter. People flocked into the restaurant; Joe never ceased to give out what he knows how to do best; Phyllis, on the other hand, cooks like a professional chef, leaving the villagers with every reason to visit the restaurant. This was also an opportunity for Cass, who saw the need to show off his creativity as he displayed his artwork on the walls of the restaurant. This left so many customers in awe, as many bought the artworks to adorn their own homes.

But as success shines in the home of Joe Kamsi, Mrs. Elizabeth, a neighbor who sells provision stores near Joe Kamsi's house, becomes jealous of their fast success in the restaurant business and plans to sabotage their newfound success. With a firm determination to shut down the restaurant and restore Crystaland to its previous state, she decided to visit the restaurant and accuse Mrs. Phyllis of using infected animals and expired ingredients to make dishes.

On the other hand, Mr. Joe needed his restaurant to go beyond just their town; he wanted the neighboring villages to come have a taste. He decided to organize a concert where he invited other comedians, musicians, and instrumentalists. The news of the concert spread wide, and Mrs. Elizabeth, hearing about the concert, assured herself that day was the perfect day to grace the restaurant for the first time and carry out her plan.

As she sat at the restaurant that evening, guests and the entire town gathered at the restaurant as usual, and laughter filled the air as the comedians stepped out, cracking different hilarious jokes that got the audience sending out tears of joy as laughter filled their faces.

Mrs. Elizabeth was moved by the laughter, and this infectious smiles opened her eyes to see the oneness the restaurant has brought to Crystaland. The positive impact the restaurant has on the town made Mrs. Elizabeth rethink and change her mind.

As Mrs. Phyllis Joe saw the laughter that filled the air and remembered the day her husband told her about turning the old building into a restaurant, she remembered her words. "I believe this doorway, which is only used by the Kamsi family, will one day welcome souls from Crystaland." She smiled as she continued serving the guests while Cass pack the used plates.
