Mrs Adebayo's quest

Immediately after Mrs. Adebayo heard the news of lockdown being lifted, she saw it as a good opportunity to level the mountain in his son's marriage. That Saturday morning, around 7:00 a.m., she picked up her phone to call her son, Samuel. She dialled the phone; it rang to the end, but there was no response. She dialled again, and finally, Samuel picked up.
"Mama, good morning ma," Samuel said immediately after he picked up the call.

"Good morning, Sam. Have you gotten any solution to what I've been nagging about?" She rushed him.

"Mama! Not this morning!" He angered

"You think I'll let you be at peace? It baffles me how relaxed you are in this situation. It's been three years, for God's sake!." She switched to nagging about how her son has not been able to give her a child after three years of marriage.

"See! We've been on lockdown, and there's no way we could have gone to meet the people you had suggested, this is Lagos City, and the lockdown is strictly adhered to...incase it's not strict in your city" Samuel tried convincing her mom.

"I know you'll say that. But let me shock you. Go and read yesterday's news, the lockdown has been lifted. In fact, I'm coming to the city today, there's an alfa we need to go and meet... How am I sure that your wife has not contracted the COVID-19 infection that has made her barren?" Mrs. Adebayo hissed and ended the call before Samuel could reply.

Samuel got fused up, but he couldn't deeply demonstrate that because his wife, Alice, was there with him.

"Was that Mama again?" Alice asked him immediately he dropped the call.

"Yes, and she said she's coming to Lagos today," Samuel answered.

"Did you say coming? We are still on lockdown?" Alice asked, sounding confused.

"They lifted the lockdown in the night." He said, sighed, and continued.
"Babe, she said we're meeting an alfa when she comes; please let's comply. Thank you"

"Okay, dear, I'm ready to do anything to take this shame in my life away," she said while relaxing her head on his chest.

It was 3:12 p.m. when Mrs. Adebayo arrived. Alice went to welcome her with hand sanitizer, but she flung it off with no words. Alice wasn't surprised because that has been her way.
"Where's your husband?" She asked Alice in a serious manner while standing at the centre of the palour.
"Let me go inside and call..." Alice was about to go and call her husband when Samuel interrupted, "Mama, I'm here".

"Okay, let's go, there's no time to waste," Mrs. Adebayo said, fastening her wrappers around her waist getting ready to leave.

"Mama, take it easy! You just arrived, and we've not offered you anything. Honey, please go and get Mama food to eat first." Samuel, trying to be hospitable, got interrupted again by her mom, "Please, there's no time, as I would love to go back to my city today."

"Okay, you won" He surrendered to her demand.

"Babe, go and dress up, let's go," Samuel told Alice.

Alice went inside, dressed up, and came out in a jiffy. They set off in Samuel's car with his mom giving the direction, she knows the town very well because she frequently visits there.

There was total silence in the car except for Mrs. Adebayo telling him to drive "this way" and "that way", while Alice was at the backseat, minding her business.

Mrs. Adebayo directed him to drive into Livingstone Hotels.
"Mama, this is the hotel!" Samuel became surprised at how an alpha would be living in a hotel.
"I know that, you don't need to worry that's his office for now." Mrs Adebayo quenched Samuel's action.

They drove in, highlighted the car, and walked straight to the block housing the alpha.
In all these, Alice was mute; she never uttered a word. As long as the alfa they're meeting is able to offer a solution to her childlessness, she doesn't have a problem.

They walked into the first room, which was serving as the reception. The female receptionist, dressed in a jean trouser and black top, welcomed them, told them to put on nosemask and gave them a tag, which they'll use to enter the office once they're told to do so.

In a few minutes, the receptionist signalled them, after glancing through her laptop, to go inside. They got up and walked to the lobby to the office, with Mrs. Adebayo leading the way.

They got there and met the alfa sitting in his boss seat, dressed in black Chinos trousers, shortsleeve white button-down shirt, graced with a big necklace on his neck, "you're welcome, have your seat," he said to them.

Mrs. Adebayo took her seat while Samuel and Alive were in awe, amazed at the fine decoration in an alpha's office... which made them to start doubting the genuineness of the God of Sky Solution Home. They later found their senses back and sat down.

"So, what brought you here?" The alfa asked, rotating the staff in his hand.

"This is my son and his wife; they've been married for three years without a child, and they wish to have the joy of a family." Mrs. Adebayo answered.

"Yes, baba, that's my greatest wish, I just want to have my own baby". Alice added in a very emotional tone.

"Okay, it's a small issue, the God of the Sky will do it for you. Hold on a little," Alfa said as he got up, walked out of the room through the door at his left, and came back with a black nylon.
He opened the nylon and brought out a baby boy's shirt and nine disc of buttons

"Look at this shirt," He raised the shirt up with his two hands,
"it represents your baby's shirt, and these buttons represent how many children you'd like to have. All you have to do is fix them into the shirt with a thread, pray to the god of the sky anytime you want you want a baby, and watch out for the miracle.

Alfa explained this to them and handed over the nylon containing the baby clothes and buttons to them.

They paid the sum of N60,000 for the service of the Alfa and left.

They got home, brought out the shirt, and fixed the five buttons on the baby shirt as instructed while Mrs. Adebayo led a simple prayer to the god of the sky, asking for a male child for a start.

After that, she left to her city feeling fulfilled, and the tensed fuse that she took to her son's house died off.

Samuel and Alice had to believe in the alfa's words, which made them swing into everyday intimacy.

And yeah, a baby boy arrived after ten months, and joy filled their home.
