The ring on Nancy's phone jolted her out from her thoughts, she held her phone close to herself. She was seated on the sofa in her sitting room. Each peep she was anxious to know whether it was her boyfriend. Finally he called.

"Hello Babe, I have been trying to reach you, hope there is no problem? Nancy inquired from her boyfriend. She was restless earlier when she came back from work with no sign of a missed call from her boyfriend, she was dead worried.

"I'm so sorry, I lost my phone but I got a new one now"

"And I was dead worried, I just knew something was wrong" Nancy relaxed her back on the sofa when her man finally reached out to her. The conversation continued in a dovey loving turn till the call ended.

Nancy has been dating James for over a year now, he was out of the country but only communicated with her through voice call. Nancy, a reputable lecturer in a renowned University, was 34 years old. A tall slender woman with curves that the best potter couldn't imitate, her mesmerizing blue eyes could set the hardest head into a trance.

"I go love o" came the voice of her best friend Thelma who was living with her in a 3 bedroom apartment. She blushed, twisting her leg together and giggled like a high school girl.

"Come on girl, don't you think something is wrong? '' Thelma asked her best friend with a weary face.

"What do you mean?" she raised an eyebrow to know where she was heading to.

"You have been dating this guy for a year now, don't you think it is high time for both of you to meet face to face" Nancy let out a hilarious laugh at her friend who looked at her in amusement.

"I know you worry too much, but trust me I got this"

"Are you sure" Thelma pressed further

"Trust me I know who I'm dating, just that….. you know what, forget it" Nancy sighed in resignation to the thought that crossed her mind, something was amidst but she shrugged it out.

The next day in school one of her students came to her aid in helping her with her bags.

"Hello ma'am, can I help you with your bags?"

"You don't need to worry, I can handle it" Nancy declined his request.

"Please ma'am I insisted" Nancy sighed, handing her bags to him, it was just a friendly gesture but this particular guy has been hanging around her helping her in little things, though she so much appreciated it but he was crossing his limit. Her day went abruptly well.

Nancy was too exhausted when she got home and slipped into a deep sleep; she was awoken by Thelma the next morning who tapped on her continuously to wake her up.

She stood up in shock as to the sudden altitude.

"You need to see this Nancy, hurry" Thelma squirrels in excitement, Nancy rubbed her eyes in-between yawns

"Why are you disturbing me this early?" She tried to lay back on the bed to sleep more.

"No.. no.. you need to see this Nancy" She wondered what the anticipation of her girlfriend was, she wasn't given much time as Thelma dragged her outside to behold a brand new SUV. Nancy had a look of confusion on her face while Thelma took the opportunity to run round the car, her happiness was beyond imagination.

"You got a car as a gift" Thelma said to her girlfriend, her heart skipped a bit, she looked so confused. Who could be giving her a car? She immediately dialed her boyfriend's number to feed her curiosity.

"Hello babe, did you send me any gift"

"You got my gift"The voice of James from the other line. Nancy giggled holding her chest, which was about to burst with happiness.

"I figured out you need it for work, you don't need to stress yourself"

"Thank you, Thank you babe"
She muttered like she was reciting a poem. The phone dropped dead as she raced in and out of the car screaming with happiness. Her man didn't waste time in spoiling her.

Like the days passed by, the question Nancy has long anticipated came forward. Her man proposed to her over the phone. She screamed in anticipation as she fully prepared for her traditional marriage. As usual James made silly excuses of being absent in his wedding but his father filled in for him. As the traditional wedding was concluded it was a tradition for the groom's family to take the girl along with them. She got home with her father in-law who welcomed her with open arms.

She saw one of her students, the guy that always helps her out with her bags in school seated on the sofa with his leg crossed.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Nancy was surprised to see one of her students in her supposed husband's house.

"Welcome home babe" Nancy couldn't process what he just said, probably her ears were playing games on her. She asked him what he just said to be sure of what she was hearing.

"There is no need for that, here is your husband" His father cut in. Nancy blinked severally, her brain couldn't comprehend what the whole drama was all about. He

"You mean you're James" she asked for confirmation. She had a series of voice calls with him but no video call. That was the beginning of her misery. How is she married to her student without no clue. The signs were coming but she ignored it.

"I'm so sorry" Nancy screamed, in her wildest dream she couldn't believe she had been dating her student all these while. Everything began to make sense, the voice was similar to the several encounters she had with him and James voice over the phone was the same. She had been played. How was she married to her own student but didn't suspect it. She was older than him.

She ran out of the house back to her apartment, the news went viral as her profession was compromised. She was so ashamed of herself. She locked herself up and cried till there were no more tears anymore. Her best friend makes efforts to cheer her up but it proves abortive.

She was gradually coming around though she couldn't admit it, her biggest weakness. She was already in love with him.She missed their frequent conversation.

"He has not called for two days" Nancy voiced out to her best friend Thelma.

"Are you not the one that told him to stay away? You miss him Nancy. Just admit it, you're in love with him, you can't hide that"

Nancy was silent as she had been caught, she didn't care anymore about what people would say about her relationship or her profession anymore. She was in love and she was going to get her man back.
