The big bug party

In a corner of a staircase, on the eighth step of the basement, lives a cricket that joyfully gives its melody to the rest of the community. Cockroaches love it, mosquitoes applaud it, and even spiders avoid eating it to enjoy its good music.

A butterfly that covers the stage with its red wine wings, always presents him before the beginning of his concert" Gentlemen and Ladies, with you the cricket" when the butterfly flaps its wings upwards. As if it were the curtain of a theater, the cricket unveils itself to the audience.

A light filters through a slot in the basement, bathing the cricket in brightness as it plays its melody. It is the light of a streetlamp, which every night, when it shines, beholds thousands of bugs dancing and fluttering around the distant bulb.

The butterfly opened like a beautiful sculpture in the air, and the music intoxicated all the creatures that heard it. It was a beautiful sight, especially because of the rarity of seeing a daytime butterfly unfold at night.

The moths flying around the bulb, looking at the beautiful butterfly, were amazed and approached it, contemplating its huge wings of different shades, it was a jewel compared to them. "Hey!" said one of the moths to the butterfly, "what are you doing here in the basement, with the crawling insects".

She replied contemptuously, "It's none of your business".

"What a fool," replied the moth, "do ours hang out with the crickets?"

She, somewhat angrily, stopped her dance and replied, "That cricket is my foster father, it was he who took care of me as a larva, be careful what you say".

The moth felt a little embarrassed "I'm sorry," She said, "I didn't know, why don't you come with us when you're done?" she turned her gaze to the lamp and continued, "We're up there."

The butterfly was curious, in fact she had long wanted to see the lighthouse, but her father wouldn't give her permission, so she waited for the cricket to get careless and flew up to the lamp to meet that moth.

The light was beautiful, full of warmth. Many species of moths were having fun flitting back and forth, but she shuddered to see that under her feet were piles of dead bugs. Some were agonizing, dying, others she had seen minutes before in the basement.

She felt herself being grabbed, and a voice pleaded, "help me. It was the moth that had invited her

She looked for help from the ones that were flying, but the rest of the moths didn't seem to care, they continued with their allusive feast that was happily leading to their death.

She went down to try to help the wounded one, she pulled it again and again until she heard the voice of other moths "leave it, it is already lost, come and fly with us".

When the cricket heard that his daughter had gone up to the lighthouse, he despaired and left the house in a hurry, and as he had no wings to fly he could not reach her. The cricket knew from afar that the lighthouse looked like a paradise, and it was, but a paradise for evil.

Suddenly he saw her descending, without moving her wings she spun in the air until she crashed to the ground. The cricket began to run with his heart in his mouth and tears in his eyes, but the winged form of his daughter, lying on the ground, was nothing more than a fallen leaf.

His head was about to explode, his hands also trembled with nerves, and in the end he let out a sigh, thanking the insect god that it was not his daughter.

A shadow covered her body, and when she turned her head, she could see her daughter.

Dad, you were right, that place is horrible, but I will never go there again," replied the butterfly.

The cricket, as a father, understood that the light his daughter was looking for, was the light of day, his nature awakened if instinct, he understood that she was growing up and her beauty was lost in the night.

In order for the butterfly to meet the sun, he played his music during the day and changed his life schedule.
