:::ONE DAY SHE WORK UP DIFFERENT::: THE INK WELL PROMPT #100

It's alarming how much children get to suffer at the hands of bullies both in school and at home. This was the case with Grace.

Grace is a girl of about 15 years of age, but looks bigger than her age, she happens to be the only child of her parents Mr & Mrs. Okafor, who invested everything they go into their only daughter. Due to much pampering, Grace got really fat compared to other children in school and the neighborhood.

Grace very much had everything she needed but there was one thing that stood out to be her problem both at home and in school, she was always been picked on and bullied by stronger kids below her age range and the same age level as herself.

The thought of being bullied on a daily basis got her sick and always wanted to be indoors. This got her feeling so insecure about herself, her life, and also her very existence. On one occasion, when school was already closed for the day, due to the delay of her parents coming to pick her up from school, she had to wait, and this gave room for some kids at school to come with the usual torment. All she did was pray in her heart for her parents to come faster and for these children not to see her but seems her prayers fell on deaf ears, immediately after she heard.

Kid 1: Hey fatty!

Immediately her heart skipped a bit for she knew that was not the only voice she was to hear.

Kid 2 Didn't you hear us call you, Fat face!

From the background, she heard another kid say.

Kid 3 I don't even know why she got admitted here in the first to be with normal kids like us.

Grace was really hurt from the inside, she felt like the earth should open up and swallow her, in her mind she had started to run as fast as her legs could carry her away from predators, but in reality, she could not move her feet, she thought of fighting back with words but, her mouth could only open with no words coming out, all that was possible her side was the visibility of her face turning red and tears began to roll down her checks.

Kid 4 She is crying already, cry on, mommy's girl, cry on little pig...

These words broke her more and she couldn't hold back she just let out. For days she refused to go back to school, for the humiliation was too much, she was body shamed, she was called names, she felt lost even among her peers, her parents could do nothing about it, and she felt alone. It was in these dark moments she found solace, and decided enough was enough, immediately she felt goosebumps on her skin as she shivered in fear for something different had come upon her, she felt so courageous like never before, she felt new, a different version of her had been awoken by her determination to fight back and so she woke up different.

It came as a shock to all those kids who bullied her that their words never mattered to her no matter how bitter they sounded from that day on, all she did was overlook them and fought back against anybody who came for her.
