Memories of Maravilla [Part 2]

✨ Thank God it's Friday! ✨

It's a long weekend here in the Philippines so instead of waking up for another working day. I'm here in my bed as I reminisce about the rest of our adventure in Maravilla Beach in Tabuelan, Cebu.

Last time, we checked out the Therrish Beach Resort's facilities. Didn't get the chance to read it? Here's a link in case you want to skim through Part 1 before reading the rest of Part 2. 😊

Therrish Beach Resort is located on the northern side of Maravilla Beach. After taking photos of the resort's facilities, we went back to our room and this time we've seen paradise not far away. It was a high tide and what a pleasure to see the gleaming water less than five meters away from our room. The ocean was calling but my hungry stomach was getting in the way. 😟

We ate lunch at this BBQ place near the main entrance of the public beach. The good thing about beaches like this is that you don't have to worry about food; you can always find one nearby. Therrish also serves food but we figured it'd be cheaper to find food elsewhere.

Right after lunch, we started exploring the rest of Maravilla Beach. I was curious about what Maravilla looked like from end to end. There's only one way to know, to walk from the north side to the south side.

On the south end of the beach, I was hoping to find a peaceful spot to chill and relax. Unfortunately, I didn't get the serenity I was looking for. It was a weekend before Valentine's! What was I thinking? Of course, the beach will be jam-packed with families and friends alike.

We walked from our resort to the last explorable part on the south side of the beach and here it's a different story; the shore seems a bit farther from the sea. There's a huge area where youngsters played volleyball. It was past lunchtime, the time of the day when the heat could kill but those kids were out to have the times of their lives anyway.

I was a bit disappointed; the beach in that area was a bit rocky and the water and shore looked unclean with all the floating dark matter. We only walked around here; we didn't swim.

Once again, we were back near the main entrance. If you're only interested for a day tour, there are cottages by the shore you can rent for Php 300-500 ($6-10)

Now, it is time to take a look at what else Maravilla has. North side it is! 😁

The south side was crowded but I noticed that more and more people were flocking near the main entrance or the heart of Maravilla Beach. Some rented open cottages, others brought their own huge and colorful umbrellas and set them up on the shore for shelter. There were those who were wise enough to take shelter under the shade of trees.

I was lucky that we met this Kuya selling one of my favorite snacks called salbaro or kiping. The main ingredient is cassava.

We're nearing our resort and with the crowd dwindling in number, I was certain we booked the best hotel we could find in Maravilla Beach. Look at that view!

We passed by our resort to apply more sunscreens and to get my GoPro. Afterwhich, we immediately headed out to the northernmost part of the beach. Rich of @lakwatserangthik suggested we book this resort located in the northernmost part of Maravilla but they weren't responsive to my inquiries. These days if you couldn't respond to customer queries online as fast as possible, you'll definitely lose sales.

We found an empty, calm beach in the northernmost part of Maravilla. And who doesn't want one, right? It was starting to be gloomy again, just the right weather to be wandering on the beach. We took a couple of photos by the shore before we explored further.

If one won't pay attention, it's possible to miss this small rock formation in the middle of the ocean about a hundred meters away from the shore where we took photos. But we spotted it and we were determined to get there. At this point, it was already low tide which made the journey to the rock formation easy peasy.

At the top of the rock formation, there's a concrete open cottage that's too old to withstand the test of time. A staircase made it possible to climb the islet/rock formation.

Here are a lot of photos of me trying to nail modeling LOL! 🤣 Really, I'm just having fun!

The last two photos above were taken at the back of the islet. It was already rocky here, not advisable to stay here if you're all by yourself.

We went back to the shore and took a nap while the waves come and go touching our feet. The beach was solemn and all I could hear were the sound of the waves and the sound of our breathing. We stayed there for some time.

By sunset, we moved closer to the entrance of the public beach and stayed there to watch the sun go down. Perfect way of ending the day!
