I watch few comedy series these days. To vary the type of series and movies about which I write opinions, I set out to find a comedy that would capture my attention and I found one that brings together elements that immediately encouraged me to watch it.

It is a series that premiered a few days ago, this first season consists of eight episodes, each one half an hour long. The plot has science fiction, black humor and a couple of actors that convinced me to watch it.
Made for Love makes a compelling mix of science fiction, a bit of horror, for the main plot that has some disturbing and black comedy a bit dosed.
When I say that the black comedy is dosed, is that it is not as acidic as I expected. It has situations and scenes that make a criticism of the lifestyle to which technology leads us, but it could have been a more acid comedy. I understand that it is an American product and they didn't want to be so transgressive. They have achieved the goal of being a little biting, they have made me have a good time in the eight episodes.

Writers Sarah McCarron, Patrick Somerville and Dean Bakopoulos are part of the screenwriting team, where the same author of the novel was also part of the adaptation and co-wrote most of the eight episodes. The fact that the author of the original work is involved in the adaptation is another plus for the story and makes me confident that the result is a satisfying series.

Made for Love hace una convincente mezcla de ciencia ficción en un argumento principal que tiene algo de perturbador y comedia negra un poco dosificada.
Cuando me refiero a que la comedia negra esta dosificada, es que no es tan ácida como yo esperaba. Tiene situaciones y escenas que aportan un critica al estilo de vida que nos impone la tecnología, pero pudo ser una comedia mas ácida. Entiendo que es un producto americano y no quisieron ser tan transgresores. Pero logran el objetivo de ser un poco mordaces, hicieron que me la pasara bien en los ocho episodios.

What is the plot of Made for Love?
Hazel Green is married to Byron Gogol, the owner of a technology empire that holds a worldwide monopoly on technology. Internet, operating systems, social networks, virtual reality, absolutely everything belongs to Byron Gogol. The couple has been living for 10 years in a fortress they call The Cube, they have had no contact with the outside world for 10 years. Inside The Cube they have everything, virtual reality technology can create a beach, a forest, anything. Byron Gogol has been working on a new project he calls Made for Love, whereby people who love each other are connected through a chip. Hazel doesn't know she has been implanted with the chip, when Byron makes a public announcement, she decides to run away from The Cube and ask him for a divorce, but Byron is watching her every move and sees everything she sees as well. The chip was implanted without her consent and now she must fight to separate from Byron Gogol, the most powerful man in the world. Will she be able to separate? What is Byron willing to do? How can she get rid of the chip? How can she escape from the man who watches her 24 hours a day?

One of the themes of the story is the role played by powerful men who dominate large technological emporiums and what they are capable of doing to achieve their ambitious goals.
The character Byron Gogol, as his last name says, is a clear reference to Google, a company that is present in every corner of our lives. We have all used a Smartphone with their operating system, therefore we are all users of their services. They are companies that have dominated the sector and have bought smaller projects that could be competition, achieving technological hegemony, knowing everything about us.
There are other films and documentaries that deal with this subject in a deeper and more serious way. In this case it is a series that does not delve into the subject, but it does use the black humor and disturbing situations of the story, to launch a small criticism of technology companies that have control of the world.
Byron Gogol is a character that symbolizes the entire technology sector, he is an exaggerated character and sometimes acts in a caricatured way. We identify him as the villain of the story, his attitude and way of being cause rejection in the viewer. He is an unpleasant character and I hated to see him in each of his scenes. Narcissistic, unsympathetic, hypocritical and with many flaws, but deep down he feels true love for Hazel.
Hazel Green is the protagonist of the story. Tired of a life where she has all the luxuries, but has sacrificed freedom, everything is monitored inside the cube, even when they have sex, the data is sent to the company's engineers to advance the project. He believes that there is still a long way to go before the chip that will connect the minds of two people becomes a reality, the experiments with the dolphin carrying a chip are not complete and showed some errors. But Gogol's ambition is so great that, without Hazel's consent and without her knowledge, the chip is implanted in her head.
The announcement before the other managers of the company, is what triggers all the events we will see in the first episode. Hazel's escape from the fortress and a constant struggle, which will force her to take refuge at her father's house, whom she has not seen for ten years.
Uno de los temas que aborda la historia, es el rol que juegan los poderosos que dominan los grandes emporios tecnológicos y lo que son capaces de hacer para cumplir con sus ambiciosos objetivos.
El personaje Byron Gogol, como lo dice su apellido, es una clara referencia a Google, una empresa que está presente en cada rincón de nuestras vidas. Todos hemos usado un Smartphone con su sistema operativo, por lo que todos somos usuarios de sus servicios. Son empresas que han dominado el sector, comprado a proyectos más pequeños que podían ser una competencia y obteniendo una hegemonía tecnológica que sabe todo sobre nosotros.
Hay otras películas y documentales que tratan este tema de manera más profunda y seria. En este caso es una serie que no se introduce en las profundidades del tema, pero si usa el humor negro y las situaciones perturbadoras de la historia, para lanzar una pequeña critica a las empresas tecnológicas que tienen el control del mundo.
Byron Gogol simboliza a todo ese sector tecnológico, es un personaje un exagerado y en ocasiones actúa de forma caricaturesca. Lo identificamos como el villano de la historia, su actitud y forma de ser causan rechazo en el espectador. Es un personaje desagradable y que odiaba verlo en cada una de sus escenas. Narcisista, antipático, hipócrita, y un montón de defectos, pero en el fondo de su corazón siente verdadero amor por Hazel.
Hazel Green es la protagonista de la historia. Cansada de una vida donde tiene todos los lujos, pero qha sacrificado la libertad. Todo es monitoreado dentro del cubo, hasta cuando tienen relaciones sexuales los datos son enviados a los ingenieros de la empresa para que avancen en el proyecto. Ella cree que todavía falta mucho tiempo ara que ese chip que conectara las mentes de dos personas sea realidad. Los experimentos con el delfín que porta un chip no están completos y arrojaron algunos errores. Pero la ambición de Gogol es tan grande, que sin el consentimiento de Hazel, le implantan el chip en la cabeza.
El anuncio ante los otros directivos de la empresa, es lo que desencadena todos los hechos que vemos en el primer episodio. El escape de Hazel de la fortaleza y una huida constante, que la obligaran a buscar refugio en la casa de su padre, que no ha visto en diez años.
The contact with the outside world, after ten years of being isolated inside the Cube, will create very funny situations. How did Hazel come to marry Byron? What was her life like before? How did she manage to escape? When was she implanted with the chip? What happened to make her stop loving Byron? All these questions will be answered through flashbacks of the couple and their life inside The Cube. We will even learn part of Hazel's childhood and how she has become the woman she is today.
In part there are elements of the horror genre, as we see her on the run, always on the defensive and willing to do anything to escape and then get the chip out of her head. The idea that having an artifact inside your head that makes it so someone else can see everything you do and monitor feelings, emotions, etc. It's really disturbing stuff, perfect for a horror story.
Each episode is loaded with a lot of black humor, softer than I expected, but effective for us to have fun watching all the vicissitudes of Hazel, her conflicted relationship with her father, which will offer us the most hilarious situations, because she has a human-sized doll as a companion.
I have enjoyed all eight episodes, being the series a pleasant surprise for me. It has exceeded the expectations I had, for a series made in these times where political correctness rules.
Made for Love is a black comedy and the main plot invites to reflect on the limits that technological advances should have and their application in our daily lives. Many of the science fiction things we see in the series are closer to becoming reality than we think. Virtual reality is a current fact, it is not at the levels presented in the series, but work is being done every day to perfect it.
The use of a chip that can monitor everything a human being does is surely being developed by a company, and may even be being tested not only on animals. There are so many conspiracy theories that some may be real. The world of the future of the series, I believe, is very close.
El contacto con el mundo exterior, luego de permanecer diez años aislada dentro de El Cubo, crea situaciones muy divertidas. ¿Cómo llego Hazel a casarse con Byron? ¿Cómo era su vida antes? ¿Cómo logra escapar? ¿Cuándo le implantaron el chip? ¿Qué ha pasado para que ya no ame a Byron? Todas esas preguntas son respondidas a través de flashbacks de la pareja y su vida dentro de El Cubo. Incluso conoceremos parte de la infancia de Hazel como se ha convertido en la mujer que es actualmente.
Hay partes de la serie que entran en el género de terror. La huida, verla siempre a la defensiva y dispuesta a todo para escapar y luego buscar la forma de sacarse el chip que tiene en la cabeza. La idea de que tener un artefacto dentro de tu cabeza y que otra persona pueda ver todo lo que haces. Monitorear sentimientos, emociones, etc. Es algo realmente perturbador, perfecto para una historia terrorífica.
Cada episodio está cargado de humor negro, más suave de lo que yo esperaba, pero eficaz para divertirno viendo todas las peripecias de Hazel, su conflictiva relación con su padre, quien nos ofrece las situaciones más hilarantes, porque tiene como pareja a una muñeca de tamaño humano.
He disfrutado los ocho episodios, fue una grata sorpresa para mí. Supero las expectativas que tenia, para ser una serie hecha en estos tiempos donde manda la corrección política.
Made for Love es una comedia negra y el argumento principal invita a reflexionar sobre los límites que deben tener los avances tecnológicos y su aplicación en nuestra vida cotidiana. Muchas de las cosas de ciencia ficción que vemos, están muy cerca de hacerse realidad. La realidad virtual es un hecho actual, no está en los niveles presentados en la serie, pero cada día se trabaja en perfeccionarla.
El uso de un chip que pueda monitorear todo lo que hace un ser humano, seguramente esta en desarrollo por alguna empresa. Hasta pueden estar siendo probados no solo en animales. Hay tantas teorías de conspiración que alguna de ellas puede ser real. El mundo del futuro que vemos en la serie, creo queestá muy cerca.

Clarkson has the longest track record, having directed episodes of series such as Bashee, Succession, Heroes, Dexter, Vinyl. He is also one of the creators of The Defenders. Stephanie Laing is known for her work on the series Veep and Australian Alethea Jones has won awards for some of her short films and television work.
The music is by composer Keefus Ciancia, whose most relevant work has been on the Princess Diana biopic starring Naomi Watts. He has other films, many low budget and little known productions, some of which I have not seen. But he is a great professional who has been nominated for an Emmy Award.
The best thing about the whole series is the majority of the cast, who execute their roles perfectly. The casting when it comes to choosing the characters has been spot on. They all have their moment to shine in the story, but I will focus on the most important characters.

Lo mejor de toda la serie es la mayoría de elenco, que ejecutan su rol de forma perfecta.El casting para elegir los personajes es acertado. Todos tienen su momento para brillar en la historia, pero me enfocare en los personajes más relevantes.
Cristin Milioti is the one who shines in her lead role. She plays Hazel, the young woman tired of a marriage in which she no longer has passion. She no longer wants to be with Byron, but she doesn't know that she has been implanted with a chip, being the first human to have this revolutionary technology. Her character is a whirlwind of emotions and will surprise us by the decisions she will make, she is not a docile and weak woman, which is the impression she gives at the beginning of the series, soon we will realize that she is a woman willing to fight to get the longed freedom. Milioti is also a singer and Grammy Award winner, alternating her career as a singer and actress in film, theater and television. She has worked on The Wolf of Wall Street and the second season of Fargo and in her early days appeared in an episode of The Sopranos. I was happily blown away and loved her character.

Ella no quiere estar más con Byron, pero no sabe que le implantaron el chip, siendo ella el primer humano en tener la revolucionaria tecnología. Su personaje es un torbellino de emociones y nos sorprenderá con sus decisiones. No es una mujer dócil y débil como parece ser al inicio de la serie, pronto nos daremos cuenta que es una mujer dispuesta a luchar por obtener la ansiada libertad. Milioti también es cantante y ha ganado un premio Grammy, alternando su carrera de cantante con el de actriz en cine, teatro y televisión. Ha trabajado en el Lobo de Wall Street, en la segunda temporada de Fargo y en sus inicios apareció en un episodio de Los Soprano. Me ha dejado felizmente sorprendido y me encanto su personaje.
Billy Magnussen plays the narcissistic Byron Gogol, owner of the tech empire who will go to the limit to achieve his goals. I hate the character, the typical millionaire guy too focused on himself than on others. The actor gives a good performance, this young man has played small characters in Into The Woods, Alladin, Maniac and other movies. To me he was an unknown actor, but soon we will see him in the latest James Bond film No Time To Die. I will be watching to see how his career develops in the future.
Billy Magnussen interpreta al narcisista Byron Gogol, dueño del imperio tecnológico que traspasara los limites para lograr sus metas. Odio al personaje, el típico chico millonario demasiado concentrado en si mismo que no presta atención a los demás. El actor hace una buena interpretación, este joven ha desempeñado pequeños personajes en Into The Woods, Alladin, Maniac y otras películas. Para mí era un actor desconocido, pero lo veremos en la última película de James Bond No Time To Die. Estaré atento para ver como desarrolla su carrera en el futuro.
Ray Romano plays Herbert Green, Hazel's father. He lives in a small town and hasn't seen his daughter for ten years. His character is one of the funniest. When I saw that this actor was in the cast, I was really sold on the series. I remember really liking the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, which I used to watch on Sony. In addition, the actor has also done excellent work in movies and drama series. He is an actor I like. In this series he returns to what he does very well, making us laugh. Especially because his character has a strange relationship with a doll.
Augusto Aguilera plays Liver, the bartender at the town bar, who doesn't have good hygiene. He is a supporting character, but I was looking forward to seeing again the actor who surprised me in the series Too Old to Die Young by Nicolas Winding Refn, one of my favorite filmmakers. Other actors in the cast include comedian Dan Bakkedahl who plays Herringbone, a character who will suffer a lot throughout the series and actress Noma Dumezweni who plays Fiffany, one of Byron's employees who will end up being Hazael's ally.
Ray Romano interpreta a Herbert Green, el padre de Hazel. Vive en un pueblo y no ha visto a su hija desde hace diez años.Su personaje es uno de los mas divertidos de todos. Cuando vi que estaba este actor en el elenco, me termino de convencer para ver la serie. Recuerdo que me gustaba mucho la sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond la cual veía por el canal Sony. Además, el actor también ha hecho excelentes trabajos en películas y series dramáticas. Es un actor que me agrada.En esta serie vuelve a lo que sabe hacer muy bien, hacernos reír. Especialmente porque su personaje mantiene una extraña relación con una muñeca.
Augusto Aguilera interpreta a Liver, el cantinero del bar de pueblo, que no tiene buena higiene. Es un personaje secundario, pero tenía muchas ganas de volver a ver al actor que me sorprendió en la serie Too Old to Die Young de Nicolas Winding Refn, uno de mis cineastas favoritos. Otros actores del elenco son el comediante Dan Bakkedahl interpretando a Herringbone , un personaje que sufrirá mucho durante toda l aserie y la actriz Noma Dumezweni interpretando a Fiffany una de las empleadas de Byron que terminara siendo una aliada de Hazael.
Will it have a second season?
Nothing is known yet, the series just premiered on April 1 and HBO Max has not notified if it will be renewed. In addition, Ray Romano in an interview said he had signed on for a single season. The fate of the series is up in the air. At the moment there are no official announcements, it depends on the audience data handled by the company that broadcasts it. I have a little hunch that it will be renewed, but to see a new batch of episodes we will have to wait some time. I'm waiting, I'll keep an eye on HBO Max's announcements.
Made for Love is not a series that is going to make television history, but its story deals with current issues and the entire cast is fantastic. It's quick to watch, eight half-hour episodes, and it serves the purpose of entertaining because it's so much fun.

No se sabe nada, la serie apenas se estreno el primero de Abril y HBO Max no ha notificado si será renovada. Además, Ray Romano en una entrevista dijo que había firmado por una sola temporada. El destino de la serie está en el aire. No hay anuncios oficiales por los momentos, depende de los datos de visionado que maneje la empresa que la emite. Yo tengo un pequeño presentimiento que si será renovada, pero para ver un nueva tanda de episodios deberemos esperar algún tiempo. Estoy a la expectativa, me mantendré pendiente de los comunicados de HBO Max.
Made for Love no es una serie que marcara un hito en la televisión, pero su historia trata temas de actualidad y todo el elenco esta fantástico. Se puede ver rápido, ocho episodios de media hora y cumple con el objetivo de divertir, porque es muy entretenida.
