What is the plot of the film?
Rose is a young veterinary student. It's been about a year since her mother died. Some time before, she was told she was adopted. She wants to know who her biological parents are. She thinks about all the reasons why she was given up for adoption. This subject is an obsession for her. After tracing her origin, she has discovered that her birth mother is Ellen, a film and television actress. She has her phone number and an address. She begins to observe her, until she has the courage to talk to her. Rose wants to know everything. Is she ready to find out the truth? How will Ellen react? Who is her biological father? Discovering something like that must produce a great emotional shock in a person, which is why I understand Rose's character and all she does to find out the truth about her origin.
The search for the truth can lead to problems. We don't know the past, nor the circumstances that led Ellen to give up her daughter for adoption. Today she is a successful woman in her profession, she lives very well and has a family. Is she prepared for a past that seemed forgotten to come back to her? What will be her reaction? Will she obtain Rose's forgiveness?
Life is not simple, when someone does something, it is for a specific reason and sometimes it is better to leave some mysteries of our lives behind. Let them remain a mystery without answers. Because if we dig into the past, we can find unpleasant surprises.
Rose's character, has always imagined that her parents were a young couple who by accident, her mother became pregnant and perhaps did not have the financial resources to give her a decent life. She also imagines that she was the fruit of a great forbidden love and that due to strange circumstances she had to be given up for adoption. Always imagining a beautiful story behind everything.

But none of that will stop her from continuing to investigate and find her biological father, no longer just driven by answers, she will now also be driven by rage.
The title of the film will make sense halfway through the movie. You will understand why the film is called Rose Plays Julie. The closing left me satisfied, it is a film that tells a haunting story through beautiful images. All questions will be answered and will make us reflect on many aspects of life.

La búsqueda de la verdad puede acarrear problemas. No sabemos el pasado, ni las circunstancias que llevaron a Ellen a desprenderse de su hija para darla en adopción. Actualmente es una mujer con éxito en su profesión, vive muy bien y tiene una familia. ¿Está preparada para que un pasado que parecía olvidado regrese a ella? ¿Cuál será su reacción? ¿Obtendrá el perdón de Rose?
La vida no es sencilla, cuando alguien hace algo, es por un motivo específico y a veces es mejor dejar algunos misterios de nuestras vidas atrás. Que sigan siendo un misterio sin respuestas. Porque si indagamos en el pasado, podemos encontrar desagradables sorpresas.
El personaje de Rose, ha imaginado siempre que sus padres eran una pareja de jóvenes que por accidente, su madre se quedo embarazada y quizás no tenían los recursos económicos para poder darle una vida digna. También se imagina que fue fruto de una gran amor prohibido y que por extrañas circunstancias tuvo que ser dada en adopción. Siempre imaginando una hermosa historia detrás de todo.
la vida siempre nos demuestra que nada es color de rosa, que no vivimos en una película de Disney con finales felices.
Escudriñar en hechos del pasado, pueden desembocar en una trágica cadena de decepciones y dolor. Rose quedara marcada cuando descubra toda la verdad y al mismo tiempo hará que Ellen reviva un tormentoso pasado que parecía haber superado. Pero nada de eso impedirá que siga investigando y encontrar a su padre biológico, ya no solo empujada en busca de respuesta, ahora también será impulsada por la rabia.
El título del film obtendrá sentido a mitad de película. Entenderás porque la película se llama Rose Plays Julie. El cierre me dejo satisfecho, es un film que nos narra una historia perturbadora a través de unas imágenes hermosas. Irish cinema that must be seen, especially if you like intense dramas.
