Most people who see this movie will stigmatize it as a bad movie. But my tastes are strange and I was fascinated by the sickly atmosphere of this horror film.

Even fans of the genre may find the plot trite and despair at the way the director drags the story out. It could have been a short film, but it has so many engrossing and exciting scenes that the whole movie was a delicious mouthful of honey for my lips.
Very low budget production, set in deep America, with a few locations, a couple going on a trip, a family in a house I wouldn't go to for all the gold in the world, and an old woman whose face turns my stomach.
From the beginning of the film you can tell that the director is influenced by great horror classics like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think the way the film is made, is for that purpose. A story a thousand times seen, but the filmmaker has put his author's stamp on it. Does it work for him? With me he already has a new fan. It's the kind of cinema I like, the kind that most people despise and that only a few mentally deranged people like me enjoy.

What is the plot of Honeydew?
Sam and Rylie are a couple on a road trip in Massachusetts. He is an aspiring actor practicing his lines for a casting call and she is a scientist studying a fungus that has affected the rural area they are headed to. Rylie is a vegan and Sam follows a strict food diet. Their relationship doesn't seem to be going well. Their car crashes and they have to pitch a tent for the night, but an old farmer named Eulis tells them that the land is his property and they must leave. The couple picks up everything and walks until they find a house. They ring the doorbell and are greeted by Karen, a strange old woman who is kind, but doesn't seem normal. With her lives her son Gunni, an obese man with bandages on his face who seems to suffer from some kind of retardation and epileptic seizures, all he does is eat and watch old cartoons on TV. While waiting for help to fix their car, they must spend the night there. What really happens? Why doesn't the couple leave the house immediately? What is that old woman with the disturbing face hiding? What will be the fate of Sam and Rylie?

The couple Sam and Rylie are really kind of stupid. Any normal person would never go into that house. The old lady disgusts me with her face, that was my hook, her gestures caused me so much dislike that I couldn't stop looking at her.
A few days ago I told you in a post that I have discovered that I am terrified of old women in horror movies. Karen is an old woman whose look sticks in my mind. Although she has trouble walking, that makes her more terrifying.
Gunni is the son, he looks sick, with a bandage around his face, watching cartoons on an old black and white TV. He is obese and occasionally has spasms or epileptic seizures. He has difficulty speaking and his scenes are nonsensical, done in the spirit of 1970s horror movies. It may get repetitive, but I couldn't help but become increasingly drawn in to see what was going on in the story.
You can easily guess what the plot direction is, no need to be a fortune teller, I told you it's something seen a thousand times in movies of this genre. But the mind of the screenwriters and the director seems to have made this movie especially for me. The story has a final part for sick minds to enjoy.
There are also plot twists, which didn't surprise me, but if you are a somewhat clueless viewer, they may catch you by surprise.
The beginning of the film is somewhat chaotic and it can take you a few minutes to make sense of certain scenes that seem to have no connection. As we get into the extended climax of the story, those brief scenes will give us the explanation for the madness we are witnessing.
La pareja conformada pro Sam y Rylie son realmente un poco estúpidos. Cualquier persona normal jamás entraría en esa casa. La anciana me enferma su cara,ese fue mi gancho, sus gestos me causaron tanto desagrado que no podía dejar de mirarla.
Hace unos días les dije en un post que he descubierto que me aterran las ancianas en las películas de horror. Karen es una vieja cuya mirada me quedo grabada en la mente. Aunque tiene problemas para caminar, eso la hace más aterradora.
Gunni es el hijo, parece enfermo, con una venda alrededor de su rostro, viendo caricaturas en una vieja televisión en blanco y negro. Obeso y cada cierto tiempo le dan espasmos o ataques epilépticos. Tiene dificultad para hablar y sus escenas son una locura, hechas con el espíritu de las películas de horror de los años setenta. Puede ser algo repetitivo, pero yo no podía dejar de sentirme cada vez mas atraído por ver lo que ocurriría en la historia.
Fácilmente adivinaremos cual es el rumbo de la trama, no hay que ser adivino, ya les dije que es algo mil veces visto en películas de este género. Pero las mentes de los guionistas y el director parece que hicieron este film especialmente para mí. La historia tiene una parte final para que la disfruten las mentes enfermas.
También hay giros de guion, que no me causaron sorpresa, pero si eres un espectador algo despistado, si pueden tomarte por sorpresa.
El inicio del film es algo caótico y puede tomarte unos minutos el encontrarle sentido a ciertas escenas que parecen no tener conexión. Cuando entramos al extenso clímax de la historia, esas breves escenas aportaran la explicación a la locura que estamos presenciando.

Devereux Milburn is the name of the director. I didn't know him and checking his IMDB profile, this film is his feature film debut. Since 2008 he has been working on making short films, writing the scripts, editing, filming and even acting in two of the shorts. I want to see more films from this filmmaker in the future. Hopefully he will get resources for his next projects, to do something more extreme and crazy. The best of the whole film is the fascinating atmosphere of the story. An achievement of the team formed by the director of the film, together with cinematographer Dan Kennedy and above all by the extraordinary musical work of composer John Mehrmann.
Mehrmann will hypnotize you with sound and music, you have been warned! Incredible work by this young composer. Without his work, this movie wouldn't work, I wouldn't have liked it. great job! It grabs you, doesn't let you out, every time it pulls you into the story and leaves you shattered.

The film was first screened at the Nightstream Film Festival, held almost last year. The film was produced by Rubber Road Productions and Little Sky Film, the latter was also the producer of Dan Kennedy's Loud Places. Sam. The aspiring actor who seems to be going through a difficult time in his relationship with his wife. He's a bit rude and Rylie is always trying to control him so he doesn't talk too much. This character is played by Sawyer Spielberg, the son of the great Steven Spielberg. I haven't seen much work from this actor, who must carry the weight of his father's last name. She gives a haunting performance, the best of the ensemble. The character is truly unpleasant. Some will surely recognize the actress from her work in the series Jessica jones.

Honeydew I recommend it only to those with weird tastes. If you're looking for a fast-paced horror film with scares, this is not the film for you to see. Now, if you like low budget productions, with a wacky but disturbing story, I think you might like it. It's not for everyone. I look forward to your comments after you see it.
Honeydew la recomiendo solo a los que tengan gustos raros. Si buscas un film de terror con sustos y ritmo acelerado, este no es el film adecuado que veas. Ahora, si disfrutas de las producciones de bajo presupuesto, con una historia descabellada pero perturbadora, creo que te puede gustar. No es para todo el mundo.
