Unlike the majority of high-quality series, the episodes of Servant only last 30 minutes or so, which makes this series much shorter than one would think. It has had 10 episodes per season so far, but since the beginning, I have thought its plot has enough depth to justify longer episodes. I guess I am a big lover of suspense and I simply want to have more of it.
Apple TV+ doesn't have that many cool series, its catalog is much smaller than that of Netflix or Amazon Video, but Servant is one of the few worth watching shows produced by Apple. If I remember correctly this was even the first Apple show I watched, and by this point, I think I have watched 5 or 6 Apple shows in total.
What was the series about?
Before sharing my opinion about season 3, I think it is a good idea to share a summary of the story so far. And the only way of doing this is by including a few spoilers of the first 2 seasons so please have that in mind before reading the following paragraphs.
The series is about a couple of parents in their 30s who tragically lost their baby by accident, or rather, by negligence from the mother who left the baby inside a locked car.
This traumatic event pretty much destroys the mental health of the 2 parents, especially the mother, until one day they decided to purchase a fake baby made of plastic as a form of weird therapy to overcome the tragedy.
If that isn't weird enough, the mother also decides to hire a nanny to take care of the baby. And this is when things begin to get really weird because the nanny instead of getting creeped out to be hired only to take care of a doll, she ends up supporting the mother in her decision every time there is a discussion with the father. It becomes clear this nanny has secrets, and sooner rather than later, a real baby appears and the fake baby disappears.
Imagine the craziness of the situation for a second, not only is having a nanny caring for a plastic baby weird enough, but somehow, she materialized a real baby out of nowhere.
The characters of the husband and the mother's brother become more important as the weirdness of the series increases. They appeared to be the only mentally sane characters in the entire show while looking unsuccessfully for ways to solve this crazy situation.
In order to not make this supposed summary more lengthy, eventually, it is revealed that Leanne belongs to some cult called the The Church of the Lesser Saints, this explains her strange personality and also her paranormal powers that can make beings come back to life. As a result of all the conflicts resulting from her decision to live with this family that hired her as a nanny, she gets in big trouble with the members of the cult, and in season 2's ending, she makes it very clear she is ready for war against the cult. She wants to be free and happy, and the cult's need to control her is an obstacle.
In season 3, everything appears somewhat normal in the family, with the only disturbed person being the nanny due to the events at the end of season 2.
The 2 parents are making an effort in trying to make everything normal and happy, but the truth is there is simply too much craziness going on for everything to remain stable for so long. Plus, even in their happy moments, some inexplicable things happen that can ruin the mood.
They are dealing with forces they don't understand, except Leanne of course, and their attempts at achieving normality are doomed to end up being futile.

Hasta ahora ha tenido 10 episodios por temporada, pero desde el principio he pensado que su trama tiene suficiente profundidad como para justificar episodios más largos. Supongo que soy un gran amante del suspenso y simplemente quiero tener más contenido para disfrutar.
El Apple TV+ no tiene tantas series geniales, su catálogo es mucho menor que el de Netflix o Amazon Video, pero Servant es una de las pocas series producidas por Apple que merece la pena ver. Si no recuerdo mal fue incluso la primera serie de Apple que vi, y a estas alturas creo que he visto 5 o 6 series de Apple en total.
¿De qué trataba la serie?
Antes de compartir mi opinión sobre la tercera temporada, creo que es una buena idea compartir un resumen de la historia hasta el momento. Y la única forma de hacerlo es incluyendo algunos spoilers de las 2 primeras temporadas así que tener eso en cuenta antes de leer los siguientes párrafos.
La serie trata de una pareja de padres treintañeros que pierden trágicamente a su bebé por accidente, o mejor dicho, por negligencia de la madre que dejó al bebé dentro de un coche cerrado.
Este evento traumático destruye la salud mental de los 2 padres, especialmente de la madre, hasta que un día deciden comprar un bebé falso hecho de plástico como una forma de terapia extraña para superar la tragedia.
Por si esto no fuera suficientemente raro, la madre también decide contratar a una niñera para que cuide del bebé. Y aquí es cuando las cosas se empiezan a poner realmente raras porque la niñera en vez de asustarse por ser contratada sólo para cuidar de un muñeco, acaba apoyando a la madre en su decisión cada vez que hay una discusión con el padre. Queda claro que esta niñera tiene secretos, y más pronto que tarde, aparece un bebé de verdad y el falso desaparece.
Imagina la locura de la situación por un segundo, no sólo es bastante raro tener una niñera cuidando a un bebé de plástico, sino que de alguna manera, materializó un bebé real de la nada.
Los personajes del marido y del hermano de la madre adquieren mayor importancia a medida que aumenta la rareza de la serie. Parecían ser los únicos personajes mentalmente cuerdos de toda la serie, y buscaban infructuosamente la manera de resolver esta loca situación.
Para no hacer más largo este supuesto resumen, finalmente, se revela que Leanne pertenece a algún culto llamado The Church of the Lesser Saints, esto explica su extraña personalidad y también sus poderes paranormales que pueden hacer que los seres vuelvan a la vida. Como resultado de todos los conflictos derivados de su decisión de vivir con esta familia que la contrató como niñera, se mete en grandes problemas con los miembros de la secta, y en el final de la segunda temporada, deja muy claro que está dispuesta a ir a la guerra contra la secta. Están lidiando con fuerzas que no entienden, excepto Leanne, por supuesto, y sus intentos de alcanzar la normalidad están condenados a terminar siendo inútiles.
Obsession is one of the themes that drive this season forward, it manifests in several ways, the most obvious one being the obsession of the cult with bringing Leanne back into their control and the extreme measures they are willing to take to accomplish their sinister objective.
Examples of obsession can also be seen within Leanne and her strange desire to live a family life with the Turners. The reasons for her attachment to Dorothy are explained in previous seasons but it is still a bit strange because it feels as if she didn't have a plan to achieve a normal life, however, this shouldn't be surprising because she isn't really a normal person and who knows what hidden skills she has that haven't been shown in the series so far.
Leanne isn't a person with a regular psychological profile and the more I think about it, the more I believe there is no way for this show to end with this character alive. She is too integrated into the family, but her weirdness and her haunting past, make it impossible for everyone around her to have regular lives.
She is like a magnet for all types of things that would creep out most people. Nevertheless, it is important to notice she is a person with good values, she is loyal, has principles, and so far, she hasn't caused any damage to anyone innocent. So in a sense, she kind of deserves a chance to receive some help in an attempt to adopt a more normal lifestyle.
Another theme that's explored this season is the psychological damage after experiencing extreme life-changing trauma. Throughout the series, it is possible to forget about the fact Jericho, the baby, died due to the negligence of his mother Dorothy.
Every time we see Dorothy on the screen, we are seeing a traumatized woman who isn't even aware of her own trauma which allows her to act all normal as if nothing was wrong and therefore, doesn't really understand the significance of having Leanne in their lives. All of this can make her feel confused sometimes.
This psychological state gets referenced several times throughout the season and is a key factor if we want to understand Dorothy and her reasoning behind some of her decisions. She is pretty much lost when it comes to realizing how deep they are in the realm of weirdness and the paranormal.
This lack of awareness is what will condition the second half of the season just like the first half was conditioned by the theme of obsession as well as Leanne's paranoia about the cult hunting her down.
In a way, this season was a bit disappointing because, after the second season's ending, I was expecting to see all hell break loose and to see a shocking war just like Leanne mentioned in the last episode of season 2, but this season ended up being very tame with a very clear lack of intense moment
Main names associated with the series
The show has had many different directors throughout its 3 seasons, and there are 2 of them with the most directed episodes with 4 each including episodes from this season. One of these directors is M. Night Shyamalan, one of the most popular directors of the suspense-mystery genre, and the creator of many masterpieces such as The Sixth Sense, Signs, and Glass.
His daughter is the other person who worked as a director in 4 episodes of this series so far including a few ones from this season, she has clearly been learning a lot from her father, and hopefully she can continue to direct many suspenseful productions in the year to come. This is the only production where she has worked as a director but I would bet she will continue to collaborate with her father.
Tony Basgallop is the main writer and creator of the story. He has surely created a very decent suspense story, although his writing of this season wasn't as intense as I was expecting. He has previously participated in many different productions such as Berlin Station, What Remains, and Inside Men.
La obsesión es uno de los temas que impulsa esta temporada, se manifiesta de varias maneras, la más evidente es la obsesión de la secta por volver a controlar a Leanne y las medidas extremas que están dispuestos a tomar para lograr su siniestro objetivo.
También se pueden ver ejemplos de obsesión en Leanne y su extraño deseo de vivir una vida familiar con los Turner. Las razones de su apego a Dorothy se explican en las temporadas anteriores pero sigue siendo un poco extraño porque da la sensación de que no tiene un plan para lograr una vida normal, sin embargo, esto no debería sorprender porque no es realmente una persona normal y quién sabe qué habilidades ocultas tiene que no se han mostrado en la serie hasta ahora.

La serie ha tenido muchos directores diferentes a lo largo de sus 3 temporadas, y hay 2 de ellos con el mayor número de episodios dirigidos con 4 cada uno, incluyendo episodios de esta temporada. Uno de estos directores es M. Night Shyamalan, uno de los directores más populares del género de misterio y suspenso, y creador de muchas obras maestras como El sexto sentido, Señales y Glass.

Toby Kebbell plays Sean, the father of Jericho. He is a chef so he spends most of his time in the kitchen, and unlike his wife, he is aware of the importance of Leanne, and what she can do. This actor can be found in RocknRolla, a Black Mirror episode called The Entire History of You, and the series The Escape Artist.
Finally we have Rupert Grint, or Ron Weasley as I like to call him. Apart from his popular role in the Harry Potter films, he has participated in many series such as The ABC Murders, Snatch, and Sick Note.
How were the performance from the cast, the scenery and the camera work?
At the beginning of this season, the third one, the nanny Leanne is extremely paranoid about cult members hunting her down, and the director did an amazing job portraying her constant worry through the use of appropriate camera angles that improve the sense of worrisome in the character.
The actress's performance was much more intense than in the previous season, and her mental state takes the center part of the story, especially in the first few episodes.
It is her performance and her character that has driven the entire show from the beginning. She provides the mystery, the weirdness, and most of the suspenseful scenes are always related to her. Leanne is among the most iconic characters of the suspense genre in recent years. That's for sure.
I also enjoy the performance of Ron Weasley, also known as Rupert Grint, his character is always very grumpy which sometimes can even be a bit funny, and he is also the most rational character of the entire story. Always aware of what's going on and preventing himself from believing in fantasies or anything similar while handling the frustration of dealing with his sister's weird mental state.
Final thoughts
Servant is among the best suspense productions released in recent years. All of the 3 seasons have provided bone-chilling moments and intriguing mysteries that make the viewers want for more.
The series mixes paranormal events, giving them a religious tone on some occasions, and providing a very appropriate pace allowing the viewers to enjoy the mystery without feeling overwhelmed or bored. The only thing that would improve the series is lengthier episodes.
I guess it is clear I really like this series, and I honestly think many people could also appreciate it if given the chance. If a mix of suspense, mystery, and paranormal events sounds intriguing, adding this series to your to-watch list would be my recommendation.
By the way, don't allow its short intro to make you believe this is a hardcore horror show, the series' intro insinuates a much horror focused production than what it actually is, but as mentioned above, I would describe this show as a mix with suspense and mystery, not horror.

Pensamientos finales
Servant se encuentra entre las mejores producciones de suspenso estrenadas en los últimos años. Las 3 temporadas han proporcionado momentos escalofriantes, y misterios intrigantes que hacen que los espectadores quieran más.
La serie mezcla sucesos paranormales, dándoles un tono religioso en algunas ocasiones, y proporcionando un ritmo muy adecuado que permite al espectador disfrutar del misterio sin sentirse agobiado o aburrido. Lo único que mejoraría la serie es una mayor duración de los episodios.
Supongo que queda claro que me gusta mucho esta serie, y sinceramente creo que mucha gente también podría apreciarla si se le da la oportunidad. Si una mezcla con suspenso, misterio y sucesos paranormales suena intrigante, añadir esta serie a tu lista de pendientes sería mi recomendación.
Por cierto, no permitas que su corta introducción te haga creer que se trata de una serie de terror dura, la introducción de la serie insinúa una producción mucho más enfocada al terror de lo que realmente es, pero como se mencionó anteriormente, yo describiría esta serie como una mezcla con suspenso y misterio, no con terror.
