Majestic Mountains and Views at Impasug-ong, Bukidnon | Mindanao Travel Series Part 4

Hi there, wholesome reader!

It's been a while since our visit to Mindanao and I miss the views a little extra today. To culminate my Mindanao travel blog series, allow me to share our unforgettable experiences in Impasug-ong.

As mentioned on my previous Mindanao travel post, Impasug-ong is known to be the Cowboy Town in Bukidnon. The municipality's name, Impasug-ong, is a Higaonon term which means "make the current come upstream". (Source)

The whole province of Bukidnon is a haven of mountains and mountain ranges, which offer breathtaking views from any point within the province. Two of the many attractions in Bukidnon are Communal Ranch and Lovers' Lane, which we were very fortunate enough to see with our own eyes.

Communal Ranch

When anyone mentions the word Impasug-ong, what instantly comes to my imagination is myself backriding on a horse with the magnificent views of the mountains at Communal Ranch. Thanks to TikTok, I was able to discover this gem.

Thankfully, we were able to insert this attraction in our Bukidnon itinerary. From RotyPeaks, we went straight to Communal Ranch, which was at least an hour travel.

We were greeted by the striking views of the mountain ranges even before we finally arrive at the ranch. The endless lush of greens rolling before our eyes was unbelievable. And when we reached the ranch, describing it as beautiful is an understatement.

Situated in Capitan Bayong, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, Philippines, the Communal Ranch is a 642-hectare property owned by the government. Upon entry, we had to pay 70 pesos each as environmental fee and 200 pesos for our vehicle parking fee.

The whole place was way beyond our expectations. There was a man-made lake with one tree erecting from one of its side, which added a dramatic effect. And there was a house where tourists can stay overnight for a fee. We've heard that there's also a restaurant inside the house but, unfortunately, we didn't bother walking to the house anymore as we've seen from afar that it was crowded at that time.

Here comes my imagination turning to a reality: we went horseback riding. We rented a horse for 250 pesos for a 30-minute ride. Since we found it a bit expensive if we spend 250 pesos each, we negotiated to just rent one horse and take turns in riding.

The whole experience at the ranch felt so calming and peaceful. We would highly recommend this place when in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon! 💯

Lovers' Lane

It was the last day of our Mindananao trip and we're down to our last stop off our itinerary – Lovers' Lane.

We just made a quick stopover here as there are no activities to do here. Lovers' Lane is a small park situated just beside the road. This place is a perfect viewdeck for motorists who wish to relax for a while.

The view

Lovers Lane without a Lover 😜

I believe this is called Lovers' Lane because it is a perfect spot for lovers who wish to have a spontaneous date with the beautiful view of the mountains, plus the river that flows at the foot of the ranges.

There were also a few food stalls at the mini park, which makes it a perfect place to hang out with, may it be with a lover or with friends and family.

Unplanned Sidetrip

After we had a late lunch, we traveled straight to the airport in Laguindingan. But since our flight was still at 9PM, our driver suggested that we drop by and visit the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador, Cagayan de Oro, Philippines.

Upon entry, I was surprised that pants for women weren't allowed inside the shrine. Contrary to most shrines, which allow bottoms that are at least below the knee, this shrine requires women to wear long dresses and long skirts. At the entrance, they have long skirts you can borrow and wear on top of your pants, and that's what we did.

The shrine is big and in the heart of it stands a 50-foot statue of Jesus the Divine Mercy. At the base of this statue is a healing chapel while in the chest of the statue is where you can find the "chamber of adoration". Devotees can access the adoration by going up the staircase. But before you can go up, you have to go through the orientation to ensure the solemnity and faithfulness of the process.

After visiting this shrine, we went straight to Laguindingan International Airport and waited for our flight back to Cebu.

This post ends my Mindanao travel series. The region is a large mass of land where a lot of wonders await to be explored and discovered. Personally, I wish to visit Mindanao again in the future and continue to be awed by its beauty.
