Hello everyone! Although I know Paris pretty well by now after a few visits, there was one main attraction I hadn't seen yet. But that was about to change last week, because I fulfilled my girlfriend's childhood dream and visited Disneyland Paris with her. In this article I would like to tell you about our impressions of this famous theme park.
Hallo zusammen! Obwohl ich Paris nach einigen Besuchen mittlerweile sehr gut kenne, gab es eine Hauptsehenswürdigkeit, die ich noch nicht gesehen hatte. Doch das sollte sich letzte Woche ändern, denn ich erfüllte meiner Freundin ihren Kindheitstraum und besuchte mit ihr gemeinsam das Disneyland Paris. In diesem Beitrag möchte ich euch über unsere Eindrücke von diesem berühmten Freizeitparks berichten.
Disenyland is not located directly in Paris. It is about an hour's train ride from the city centre, but at €5 per person per way, it is very affordable – especially considering the otherwise very high prices in France's capital. With our pre-purchased tickets (89€ per person), we passed through the entrance area and were ready to explore. By the way, we only visited the Disneyland Park and not the Walt Disney Studios Park right next to it.
Disenyland befindet sich nicht direkt in Paris. Vom Stadtzentrum muss man eine ungefähr eindstündige Zugfahrt in Kauf nehmen, die jedoch mit 5€ pro Person und Strecke sehr günstig ausfällt – besonders für das sonst doch sehr hohe Preisnieveau in Frankreichs Hauptstadt. Mit unseren vorab online gekauften Tickets (89€ pro Person) passierten wir den Eingangsbereich und waren bereit für unsere Erkundungstour. Wir besuchten übrigens nur den Disneyland Park und nicht den Walt Disney Studios Park direkt nebenan.
To start with, we walked along the main street of the park with its many restaurants, cafes and shops and visited the iconic Disney Castle, which we had imagined to be a bit bigger. Nevertheless, you really feel like you're in a different, colourful and funny world here right from the start. We were also lucky with the weather. It was very cloudy the whole day with a pleasant 23°C.
Zu Beginn spazierten wir die Hauptstraße des Parks mit ihren vielen Restaurants, Cafes und Geschäften entlang und besichtigten das ikonische Disney-Schloss, das wir uns etwas größer vorgestellt hatten. Nichtsdestotrotz fühlt man sich hier wirklich von Beginn an, wie in einer anderen, bunten und lustigen Welt. Auch mit dem Wetter hatten wir Glück. Es war den ganzen Tag stark bewölkt bei angenehmen 23°C.
The park consists of several areas arranged around the castle. We visited parts of Adventure Land, but soon switched to the more interesting Fantasy Land. We particularly liked the Alice in Wonderland area there. Here you can cross a really long labyrinth, meet numerous characters from the movie and reach a small castle at the end, from where you can enjoy a great view of the park.
Der Park besteht aus mehreren Bereichen, die um das Schloss herum angeordnet sind. Wir besuchten Teile des Adventure-Lands, wechselten aber bald in das interessantere Fantasy-Land. Besonders gut gefiel uns hier die Welt von Alice im Wunderland. Hier kann man ein wirklich langes Labyrinth durchqueren, trifft zahlreiche Charaktäre des Films und erreicht am Ende ein kleines Schloss, von dem man eine tolle Aussicht auf den Park genießen kann.
After a short dance show on the forecourt of the Disney Castle, we explored the futuristic Discovery Land. Here you can also find some Star Wars attractions, like a really fun spaceship simulator, which was of course an absolute must for me as a fan. In the Star Wars souvenir shop we also found a suitable souvenir: a fluffy baby Chewbaca.
Nach einer kurzen Tanz-Show auf dem Vorplatz des Disney-Schlosses, erkundeten wir das futuristische Discovery-Land. Hier findet man auch einige Star Wars Attraktionen, wie einen wirklich spaßigen Raumschiff-Simulator, der für mich als Fan natürlich ein absolutes Muss war. Im Star Wars Souvenir-Shop fanden wir auch ein passendes Andenken: Einen flauschigen Baby-Chewbaca.
Now the daily Disney parade was on our agenda. The many creatively designed vehicles were really nice to look at and the costumes were designed with great attention to detail. Afterwards, we visited Frontier Land, which is kind of a wild west world. Here we took a ride on the roller coaster "Thunder Mountain". We were already a bit tired, so we could really use the adrenaline kick.
Nun stand die tägliche Disney-Parade auf unserem Programm. Die vielen kreativ gestalteten Gefährte waren wirklich nett anzusehen und die Kostüme wurden mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Im Anschluss besuchten wir das Frontier-Land, das eine Wild-West-Welt darstellt. Hier wagten wir eine Fahrt mit der Achterbahn "Thunder Mountain". Wir waren bereits etwas müde, konnten den Andernalin-Kick also sehr gut gebrauchen.
It was already getting dark and we were hungry. After choosing fish and chips for lunch, this time we treated ourselves to a Mickey pizza. By the way, the prices for food and drinks are really okay. Not cheap, but not extremely expensive either. I would have expected worse. At the blue hour, the park began to shine in a new way. The lighting was really atmospheric. Shortly before 11 p.m. we could admire the absolute highlight of the day. The light show at the Disney Castle was simply stunning. We had never seen such a spectacle of music, light effects, drones, water fountains and fireworks before.
Es wurde bereits dunkel und wir waren hungrig. Nachdem wir uns beim Mittagessen für Fisch mit Pommes entschieden hatten, gönnten wir uns diesmal eine Mickey-Pizza. Die Preise für Essen und Getränke sind übrigens wirklich okay. Nicht günstig, aber auch nicht extrem teuer. Ich hätte Schlimmeres erwartet. Zur blauen Stunde begann der Park in ganz neuem Glanz zu erstrahlen. Die Beleuchtung war wirklich sehr stimmungsvoll. Kurz vor 23 Uhr konnten wir dann das absolute Highlight des Tages bewundern. Die Lichtshow am Disney-Schloss war einfach nur umwerfend. So ein Spektakel aus Musik, Lichteffekten, Drohnen, Wasserfontänen und Feuerwerken hatten wir noch nie zuvor gesehen.
Only after midnight we boarded the train back to Paris and fell into bed exhausted. My fitness tracker showed over 20,000 steps. But had it been worth it? Yes, definitely! Even though some attractions are getting a bit long in the tooth, the Disneyland Park is still more than impressive. There is also really something for every taste and at the latest when you’re standing in front of the final light show with your mouth open, you feel a little bit enchanted – even as an adult man 😉
Erst nach Mitternacht stiegen wir in den Zug zurück nach Paris und fielen erschöpft ins Bett. Mein Fitness-Tracker zeigte über 20.000 Schritte an. Doch hatte es sich gelohnt? Ja, definitiv! Auch wenn einige Attraktionen schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen sind, ist der Disneyland Park noch immer mehr als beeindruckend. Es ist auch wirklich für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei und spätestens wenn man mit offenem Mund vor der abschließenden Lichtershow steht, fühlt man sich ein kleines bisschen verzaubert – sogar als erwachsener Mann 😉
