Hello world travelers!

Yesterday, I shared some insights into the magical surroundings we can discover in an internationally renowned resort like Varadero, on the Hicacos Peninsula.

Today, I want you to join me from the beginning of the journey, like someone who imagines that we can truly travel together and immerse ourselves, through imagination, in our seas with the breeze of the sun as our destination.

Since I live in central Cuba and the trip is to the western part of the country, I have to wake up early and get up well into the wee hours. After making coffee, while I take a shower and get dressed, I finalize the details so I don't forget anything (of course, I always forget something, like bringing some folding chairs and a flying saucer to play with on the beach), quickly realizing that the day was going to be like a roller coaster, not knowing at that moment that it was precisely a roller coaster that would give us part of a unique and wonderful experience.

alt

alt

Having had some coffee and saved up for the trip, around 3:45 a.m. I headed out to the meeting point for the bus that would take us to the long-awaited destination. The streets were deserted, tranquility around every corner. The moon in all its splendor forced me to sigh as I reveled in the halo of light it bestowed upon me. Along the way, I found myself chasing shadows as if I were about to participate in the initiatives that melinda010100@melinda010100 offers us each week. It's just that inevitably, sometimes one goes through life thinking about #hive.

alt

alt

I arrive at the bus stop where the bus was supposed to pick me up at 4 a.m., but it's delayed, actually almost an hour. What to do in that time? Well, I start talking to the stars. There were Venus and Jupiter, perfectly aligned, looking at me and whispering stories of me hunting comets and growing flowers to give petals to a galaxy dissolved in the darkness of time.

The bus finally arrives, and we begin our journey. You'll soon know who's accompanying us (someone who was truly responsible for getting me on this experience, and whom I thank for it).

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

We stop somewhere in the province of Cienfuegos, and I begin to think we're on a train, one of those old-fashioned ones that fade into the memory of the rails along the way. Some travelers go to the bathroom, others have a snack, and I chat with an Indian woman who's showing us a national map so we don't get lost despite the stars.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

The journey resumes, and the sun rises to caress our skin. The green of the landscape becomes an embracing blanket, and we draw closer without realizing it.

alt

alt

alt

alt

And I keep thinking about #hive, capturing images of small cars and barrels in the meadow. Who knows if they'll be relevant to some other initiative in some yet-to-be-discovered community.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

8:30 a.m. We arrive at our expected destination. We're greeted by the first hotels in sight, the toll booth at the sea, and the occasional boat searching the horizon, perhaps in search of a white whale.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

It's early, and the streets are still barely crowded with pedestrians heading in any direction. The palm trees greet us, and a few blocks later, we get off to finally breathe the salt air and explore new experiences.

alt

alt

alt

What's the first thing I see as I walk? A lizard stares at me as if it's about to challenge me by taking out its handkerchief, but I head in the opposite direction, and under the blue sky, I delight in these classic cars, typical throughout the peninsula.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

Evoking the Musketeers' motto when they said All for one and one for all!, where we first ended up was at the All in One theme park (a name that has been perpetuated over time for no reason because originally in that place everything was really worth a dollar, but now everything has different prices. Nothing, just the illogical nature of our country that even makes it more attractive to many.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

Remember when I once told you I'm a black belt in absent-mindedness? Well, here's more proof of that: We arrived way too early thinking we'd first ride the various attractions the amusement park offers and then head to the beach, but the place doesn't open until after noon. Since we were already there, we had a snack, drank coffee, and even did some exploratory activities that had interesting results, where I found myself thinking about hive again, now hunting reflections in the water for olgavita@olgavita's initiatives. At hive, I'm thinking like the motto: All for one and one for all!

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

Once the park was almost completely empty and we had sorted out a few interesting situations (you'll see why later), we set out to conquer the beach that would welcome us with its waves ready to embrace us.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

Along the way, some people hung onto the letters to show their faces after being moved by the sight of a house's front yard completely decorated with shells and mosaics in a truly unique and attractive arrangement.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

And we followed the shadows that led us along a path outlined among the grapes, imagining ourselves as discoverers of a dialogue between the clouds and the sea, almost caressing each other on the distant horizon. Without intending to disturb them, we settled for simply enjoying the beach and letting ourselves be carried by the waves, under the caresses of the sun and the occasional visit from the seagull, which ignored us despite our attempts to give it jams.

alt

alt

alt

Before entering the sea, one cannot ignore the beauty of the flowers contrasting with the green and blue. That said, yes, of course I entered the sea, and you can imagine that you're walking next to us, and we can see our feet through the clear water.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

And we continue to let ourselves be carried away by the waves, the sound of the water lapping in its swaying and the playful interaction evident, even thinking of capturing some imaginary cloud shapes for, who knows, some other post in the immediate future.

But it wasn't all about being in the water. You had to go to the theme park, which was already open at this point.

alt

alt

alt

alt

The streets already showed the usual traffic of tourists or local residents going about their daily lives.

alt

alt

One of the interesting and attractive aspects of the trail is that, just a few meters from the road, you can stop for a moment and let the grapes guide you. Then, once this desire is satisfied, continue on.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

And between street and street, with some views more beautiful than the last, one discovers places with unusual culinary offerings for today's times compared to the prices found in the rest of the country. Now I'm craving a cold beer to cool off from the sun already burning my skin. I try to take another photo of that sign that betrays the name of this popular spot, but a girl makes me smile with her provocative way of highlighting, and what can I do? Nothing, things that happen on life's journey...

alt

alt

alt

We arrived back at the theme park. A trip around the bowling alley, a look around the inflatable park, and finally the grand prize: the roller coaster!

Yes, I told you I'd explain. It turns out I came to this place at the invitation of lizandra@lizandra and her children, Lía and Dylan. My thanks to them! And what's so special about this feature? Some might ask.

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

alt

Well, as many of you know, Dylan is an autistic child, and like any special person, he never ceases to pleasantly surprise us. This was no exception. He wanted to ride that mountain from the very beginning, and when we finally got there, his unbridled laughter was a true gift. The funny thing is that, when he completed the established route on this mountain, he shot off at full speed, and it was the rest of us who, like little kids, wanted to continue riding the vortex of vertigo that this magical device provides.

alt

alt

If you really come to Varadero, be sure to climb that mountain and embrace the clouds! Always with a smile, of course!

Until your next trip around the world, receive a hug of light!

This is my participation in the challenge that worldmappin@worldmappin proposes to us and to which we invite you to share all together on each trip.

Thank you very much for your visit!
