Yesterday, I went to the Mall of America to do something silly: ride a roller coaster with over a thousand other people, all named Ryan. We started gathering in the East Rotunda around 5:45, and we finally started riding the roller coaster at 8:00. There were over 1,000 of us in total! I got to make some friends along the way:
A fellow Norwegian Ryan immediately caught my attention. We had to get a picture together!
After the first ride, something terrible happened: the roller coaster broke down! Apparently seating two to a row overloaded the train and it got stuck. So that slowed down the whole procession. I got to chat with the other Ryans in line with me for a while, which was really great.
These Ryans are from LA, North Carolina, Indiana and Minneapolis/St. Paul. I met others from Hawaii, Washington, Texas, Florida, New York, and Iowa. It wasn't until around 11:00 that I finally got to Ryde the Ryan Coaster. We all gathered at The Fair on 4 afterwards for an after party with Ryan themed drinks. It was a long, exhausting day, but I had a cameo on the local news! So that's worth it, I guess?
