After a long and lovely Christmas day with both of our families yesterday with a lot of tasty German food, music, presents, and wine. - Today we decided to take some fresh air and check out a new route for a long walk. The weather was not perfect, because it was raining a little bit - but at least like that, we would be all by ourselves surrounded by pure nature!
So we jumped in the car and went to Windach. - Windach is a small town right next to lake Ammersee. - We found that spot in one of our hiking books (best hikes with the dog) and liked it very much, as it offers several tours with different difficulties and distances.
So after about 30 minutes drive, we arrived at the parking lot right next to the river Windach.
From there it was only a few meters to the official sign of Wandachtal showing the different hiking tours.
We decided to walk along the river first. It was already raining a bit, but at least still "warm" with 8 degrees.
It was very nice to listen to the river and the silence of the forest. The path was a bit muddy but easy to walk and the dog was also very excited.
Around every corner, we got a new spectacular view of the river, while we were fighting our way through the trees, jumping over mud holes.
After about 20 minutes we decided to take a new direction out of the forest, away from the river towards big fields. There the path was easier to walk and the dog could run as fast as he wanted to.
This path also went up and down through the forest and then out again. It was just awesome to be out again in the middle of nature with this constant change of ambiance.
It started to rain very hard and we already had walked another 20 minutes, so we decided to go back on that path.
And then finally we arrived at the town again. Wet but happy! There were very cute houses.
We found the car and went back home to take a siesta before we ended our day with a delicious Italian lasagna.
To get a better idea of this precious place, check out the video and enjoy:
It was a really great place for long and short walks. Next time we will do the 4hrs route and tell you all about it.
Until then stay safe! Merry Christmas!
Cheers,
