When I decided to travel to the north of Argentina it was because one of my greatest wishes was to see the famous Jujuy salt flats. I had seen it in some photos and it seemed like a wonderful place, I knew it had to be there. When we traveled to Epecuén I had a little approach, in that only salt beach , but being in the salt flats was something that was on another level: finally I had fulfilled my objective in the north 😍.
Cuando decidí viajar al norte de Argentina fue porque uno de mis mayores deseos era conocer el famoso salar jujeño. Lo había visto es algunas fotos y me parecía un lugar maravilloso, sabía que tenía que estar ahí. Cuando viajamos a Epecuén tuve un pequeño acercamiento, en esa única playa de sal, pero estar en las salinas fue algo que estuvo a otro nivel : al fin había cumplido mi objetivo en el norte 😍.
After being 4,170 meters above sea level on the Lipán slope , we continued on our way to our next stop. After a long time, we stopped seeing those beautiful mountain ranges to start seeing... desert. It was as if we had suddenly been somewhere else.
Después de haber estado a 4.170 metros sobre el nivel del mar en la cuesta de Lipán, seguimos camino adelante para nuestra siguiente parada. Luego de un largo rato, dejamos de ver aquellos lindos cordones montañosos para empezar a ver... desierto. Era como si de repente hubiesemos estado en otro lugar.
When we finally arrive, we find a literal desert: a very clear landscape and with a very difficult wind to handle. Like us, several groups of tourists, by bus and motorcycles. With that wind, it will have been an interesting journey.
Cuando finalmente llegamos, nos encontramos con un literal desierto: un paisaje muy claro y con un viento muy difícil de manejar. Al igual que nosotros, varios grupos de turistas, en micro y en motos. Con ese viento, habrá sido una travesía interesante.

The Salinas Grandes parador has several stalls where they sell handicrafts and also something to eat. It is a space to rest: they also have shelters in case you want to protect yourself a little from the wind.
El parador de las Salinas Grandes cuenta con varios puestos en donde venden artesanías y también algo para comer. Es un espacio para descansar: también tienen refugios por si quieres protegerte un poco del viento.

Of course I was in charge of buying and eating the typical northern stuffed tortilla. This I was not going to miss 😂. Dough with fat and stuffed with ham and cheese, not at all dietary but super delicious ❤️.
Por supuesto me encargué de comprar y comer la típica tortilla rellena norteña. Esto sí que no me lo iba a perder 😂. Masa con grasa y relleno de jamón y queso, para nada dietético pero super delicioso ❤️.
At the entrance they have two large sculptures where it is mandatory to take a photo to show that you were there. The weather prevented you from having a photo with your hair fixed, but at least I tried 😂.
En la entrada tienen dos grandes esculturas en donde es obligatorio tomarse una foto para demostrar que estuviste allí. El clima te impedía tener una foto con el pelo arreglado, pero al menos lo intenté 😂.

I don't like to buy souvenirs in every place I go, because I would have to have a separate budget for that, but to this day I was wondering why I didn't buy one of those little flames made from blocks of salt. Anyway, the saleswoman said that they had to be protected with synthetic enamel to prevent them from melting, but it would have been interesting to bring one to my house and see how long it lasted.
No me gusta comprar recuerdos en cada lugar que voy, porque tendría que tener un presupuesto aparte para eso, pero hasta el día de hoy me quedé pensando en por qué no compré una de esas pequeñas llamas hechas en bloques de sal. De todos modos, la vendedora dijo que había que protegerlas con esmalte sintético para evitar que se derritieran, pero hubiese sido interesante traer una a mi casa y ver cuanto duraba.
The salt flat itself was a great white desert, so much so that it left you a little blind if you looked directly at the floor. The ones who wore sunglasses were very smart for this (can't say that about myself) 😂.
El salar en sí era un gran desierto blanco, tanto que te dejaba un poco enceguecido si mirabas el piso directamente. Los que llevaron gafas de sol fueron muy inteligentes para esto (no puedo decir eso sobre mí) 😂.

As in all mineral extraction, there is great activism against damaging natural environments. Because we were short of time, we could not make the excursion to the pools where the salt is extracted for later refining, but it would have been great to know the history and the production process.
Como en toda extracción de minerales, allí hay un gran activismo en contra de que se dañen los ambientes naturales. Debido a que estabamos escasos de tiempo, no pudimos hacer la excursión hacia los piletones en donde se extrae la sal para su posterior refinado, pero hubiese sido genial conocer la historia y el proceso productivo.

Instead, we just play around and take the typical photos from when you're there. The white background is perfect for taking pictures, taking aside the fact that you had to struggle a bit with the windy current. Luckily, this time I had my coat with me, otherwise I would also have frozen like in El Hornocal 😂.
En su lugar, nos quedamos jugando y tomandonos las típicas fotos de cuando estas allí. El fondo blanco es perfecto para tomar fotografías, sacando de lado el hecho de que había que luchar un poco con la corriente ventosa. Por suerte, esta vez si tenía mi abrigo conmigo, de lo contrario también me hubiese congelado como en El Hornocal 😂.

Before being in that place, I spent it watching funny photos where people played with perspective and obtained images where they seemed bigger or smaller, entering common objects such as bottles or glasses or even taking jumps that seemed impossible to do. Believe ... Well, I tried to do some of these jumps but clearly I failed and we did several takes. It seemed easy just watching it from the comfort of my home 😂.
Antes de estar en ese lugar me la pasaba viendo fotos graciosas en donde la gente jugaba con la perspectiva y obtenía imágenes en donde parecían más grandes o más pequeños, que ingresaban a objetos comunes como botellas o vasos o que incluso daban saltos que parecían imposibles de creer... Bien, intenté hacer alguno de estos saltos pero claramente fallé y eso que hicimos varias tomas. Parecía fácil solo viéndolo desde la comodidad de mi hogar 😂.

We also saw an interesting sign that told us how many km from some well-known places we were ... Perhaps after spending several days walking there we forgot that we traveled more than 1400 km from Buenos Aires until we arrived. Beautiful and long journey ❤️!
También vimos un interesante cartel que nos decía a cuantos km de algunis lugares conocidos estabamos... Quizás después de estar varios días paseando por allí nos olvidamos que viajamos más de 1400 km desde Buenos Aires hasta que llegamos. ¡Hermoso y largo trayecto ❤️!

This was our last walk through the province of Jujuy. We took a lot of interesting postcards with us: I think that in a short time we were able to visit some wonderful places. That's the good thing about travel packages: everything is already laid out and you just have to go there and live in the moment 😅. I was very happy after being able to complete this trip, even though it was two years later than planned. It's always better late than never ❣️.
Este fue nuestro último paseo por la provincia de Jujuy. Nos llevamos un montón de postales interesantes: creo que en poco tiempo fuimos capaces de visitar unos lugares maravilloso. Eso es lo bueno que tienen los paquetes de viajes: ya esta todo diagramado y solamente tenes que ir ahí y vivir el momento 😅. Me quedé muy feliz luego de poder concretar este viaje, aunque hayan sido dos años después de lo planeado. Siempre es mejor tarde que nunca ❣️.
