It was April this year when one day I was bored browsing Instagram and suddenly I saw an advertisement for a shared trip in a motorhome. As I always do, I ask for info on everything just to be aware of the proposals, and to my surprise, I liked the plan more than I expected. It was a three-week trip through the south of Argentina in July, sharing the space with other travellers and making some intermediate stops for trekking. I had wanted to experience a trip like this for a long time, and when I got the price, which didn't seem so expensive, I thought "I don't see why not do it". At that moment I had enough money to pay the deposit so I did it almost impulsively, until the day to start the adventure came faster than expected 😃.
Era Abril de este año cuando un día estaba aburrida navegando por Instagram y de repente me aparece la publicidad de un viaje compartido en motorhome. Como hago siempre, pido info de todo solo para estar al tanto de las propuestas, y para mi sorpresa, el plan me gustó más de lo esperado. Se trataba de un paseo de tres semanas recorriendo el sur de Argentina en Julio, compartiendo el espacio con otros viajeros y haciendo algunas paradas intermedias para trekking. Yo ya quería vivir la experiencia de un viaje de este estilo hace rato, y cuando me pasaron el precio que no me pareció tan costoso, pensé "no veo por qué no hacerlo". En ese momento tenía la plata suficiente como para pagar la seña así que lo hice casi impulsivamente, hasta que el día de empezar la aventura llegó más rápido que lo esperado 😃.

The cost of this three-week trip was 350,000 ARS (currently about $270), which included transportation in the motorhome, sleeping and showering space, plus travel expenses such as fuel, gas, drinking water, tolls, etc. We would leave from the city of Cordoba and in total we would travel more than 1800 km to the south of Argentina, passing through some of the most important cities in the area. In addition, each traveller had to carry extra money for food and their own expenses, which in my case represented an extra 400,000 ARS (approximately $310). This was my most expensive trip so far, but it was totally worth it 😃.

El costo de este paseo de tres semanas fue de 350.000 ARS (actualmente unos $270), que incluían el traslado en el motorhome, espacio para dormir y ducharse, además de los gastos propios del viaje como combustible, gas, agua potable, peaje, etc. Partiríamos de la ciudad de Córdoba y en total recorreríamos más de 1800 km hacia el sur de Argentina, pasando por algunas de las ciudades más importantes de la zona. Además, cada viajero tenía que llevar dinero extra para comida y sus gastos propios, lo que en mi caso representaron unos 400.000 ARS extra ($310 aproximadamente). Este fue el viaje más costoso que hice hasta el momento, pero valió completamente la pena 😃.

This motorhome called Wayra became our home in the 21 days we shared together. I live in Buenos Aires, so to get to Cordoba I had to go in advance while waiting for the date of the trip to arrive, precisely on the 14th of July this year. I was the last one to get on the bus, and when I got on, I met the other people I would be living with for those three weeks, as well as a beautiful dog named Merlin. Although we had been talking a bit on Whatsapp beforehand, none of us knew each other (except for the driver and his girlfriend), so it was like a blind trip for everyone. Luckily, it didn't take long for us to introduce ourselves and get along ❣️.
Este motorhome llamado Wayra se convirtió en nuestro hogar en los 21 días que compartimos juntos. Yo vivo en Buenos Aires, así que para llegar a Córdoba tuve que ir con anticipación mientras esperaba que llegue la fecha del viaje, precisamente el 14 de julio de este año. Fui la última en subirme al bus, y cuando entré, me encontré con las demás personas con las que conviviría esas tres semanas, además de un hermoso perro llamado Merlín. Si bien habíamos estado hablando un poco por Whatsapp antes, ninguno de nosotros se conocía entre sí (salvo el chofer y su novia), así que fue como un viaje a ciegas para todos. Por suerte, no tardamos mucho en presentarnos y llevarnos bien ❣️.
I had never been in a motorhome before and was very intrigued by the layout. Even before I went, 14 people in a small space sounded crowded to me, but the reality is that we were all quite comfortable. The motorhome had a small living room with armchairs where we were all seated, a fireplace for heating, a kitchen with a gas stove, a bathroom for urinating and a water tank for bathing, a bedroom with 12 beds (6 on each side) and a private room at the back where the driver and his girlfriend slept. In addition, there were a few books, board games, a TV and a games console to pass the free time. I thought it was all very cool ❤️.
Yo nunca había estado en un motorhome antes y me intrigaba mucho la distribución de los espacios. Incluso antes de ir, 14 personas en un espacio reducido me sonaba a un amontonamiento, pero la realidad es que todos estuvimos bastante cómodos. El motorhome contaba con un pequeño living con sillones en donde entrábamos todos sentados, una chimenea para calefaccionar, cocina con garrafa, baño para orinar y un tanque de agua para bañarse, habitación con 12 camas (6 a cada lado) y una habitación privada al fondo en donde dormían el chofer y su novia. Además, habían unos cuantos libros, juegos de mesa, TV y consola de juegos como para pasar los ratos libres. Todo me pareció super genial ❤️.

One of the reasons that convinced me to do this trip was that we would do it in July, in the middle of winter when it is high season in the south of my country. Travelling in winter is very expensive because there is all the winter snow tourism, and this option seemed to me to be a good way to save a little. Besides, I have travelled to the south on other occasions but always in summer or in low season when prices are a bit more affordable, so I was excited about the idea of visiting these places in their winter version ❤️.
Una de las razones por las que me convencí de hacer este viaje es que lo haríamos en Julio, pleno invierno cuando es temporada alta en el sur de mi país. Viajar en invierno es muy costoso porque está todo el turismo invernal de nieve, y esta opción me pareció buena como para ahorrar un poco. Además, yo ya he viajado al sur en otras ocasiones pero siempre en verano o en temporada baja cuando los precios son algo más accesibles, así que me emocionó la idea de visitar estos lugares en su versión invernal ❤️.
San Martín de los Andes
The first two nights of our trip were where we did the most kilometres to finally arrive at our first destination which was San Martin de Los Andes, Neuquén on the third day in the afternoon. We stayed there for about four nights where we did some trekking, had dinner together and went out to some local bars. The motorhome was parked on the shore of the lake, so every morning we had a privileged view 😃.
Las primeras dos noches de nuestro viaje fueron en donde hicimos la mayor cantidad de kilómetros para finalmente llegar al primer destino que fue San Martín de Los Andes, en Neuquén, al tercer día por la tarde. Nos quedamos ahí unas cuatro noches en donde aprovechamos para hacer algo de trekking, cenar juntos y salir a algunos bares de la zona. El motorhome quedó estacionado a la orilla del lago, por lo que cada mañana teníamos una vista privilegiada 😃.
Villa La Angostura
Our second destination was the city of Villa La Angostura, also in the province of Neuquén. This city is one of the most beautiful in Patagonia and many people choose it to relax in front of beautiful landscapes. Here we spent about three nights, also trekking and walking around a bit, while the motorhome was parked in front of a square 😅.
Nuestro segundo destino fue la ciudad de Villa La Angostura, también en la provincia de Neuquén. Esta ciudad es una de las más hermosas de la patagonia y muchos la eligen para descansar frente a unos paisajes hermosos. Acá estuvimos unas tres noches, también haciendo trekking y paseando un poco, mientras el motorhome quedaba estacionado enfrente de una plaza 😅.
Bariloche
Bariloche in Río Negro is undoubtedly the star city of southern Argentina, so we also stayed there for a total of five nights. This city is the one I have visited the most times in my life, but it is always good to come back because the landscapes are beautiful. For our stay in Bariloche the motorhome was parked three nights on the shores of the Nahuel Huapi lake and two nights at a campsite near the Lago Gutierrez 😃.
Sin dudas Bariloche en Río Negro es la ciudad estrella del sur de Argentina, así que también estuvimos por ahí en un total de cinco noches. Esta ciudad es la que he visitado más veces en mi vida, pero siempre es bueno volver porque sus paisajes son hermosos. Para nuestra estadía en Bariloche el motorhome quedó estacionado tres noches a orillas del lago Nahuel Huapi y dos noches en un camping cerca del Lago Gutiérrez 😃.
El Bolsón
El Bolsón in Rio Negro was the last stop on our trip and we stayed there for a total of four nights. By then, we were all a bit tired so we rented a hostel and stayed there for a bit more comfort. We also did some trekking and since we had a bigger kitchen, we took advantage of it to eat a bit more elaborate meals. This summer I spent two and a half months living and working in El Bolsón, but I loved going back ❤️.
El Bolsón en Rio Negro fue la última parada de nuestro viaje y allí estuvimos por un total de cuatro noches. Para ese entonces, ya todos estábamos algo cansados así que alquilamos un hostel y estuvimos ahí para un poco más de comodidad. También hicimos algo de trekking y ya que teníamos una cocina más grande, aprovechamos para comer un poco más elaborado. Este verano estuve dos meses y medio viviendo y trabajando en El Bolsón, pero me encantó volver a ir ❤️.
On the way back, we spent one more night in Bariloche and then two more in two different towns in La Pampa, until we were back in Córdoba on Sunday afternoon, August 4th. From a distance and even now, this seems like a long time, but I must say that it went by very quickly. We had so much fun that it didn't feel like 21 full days, and there came a point where we all became very good friends. There was literally no problem, we all got along very well between walks in the mountains, afternoons on the bus, on the road, drinking mate and many, many nights of wine and partying. I say that this was like the second edition of my graduation trip, because I really had as much fun as I did on that trip when I was a teenager. It was great, I couldn't have hoped for it to turn out better ❤️.
Ya en el camino de regreso, pasamos una noche más en Bariloche y luego otras dos en dos pueblos difentes en La Pampa, hasta que estuvimos de regreso en Córdoba el domingo 4 de Agosto por la tarde. A la distancia e incluso ahora esto me suena a mucho tiempo, pero debo decir que se pasó muy rápido. Nos divertimos tanto que no se sintieron como 21 días completos, y llegó un punto en que todos nos hicimos muy buenos amigos. Literalmente no hubo ningún inconveniente, todos nos llevamos muy bien entre paseos en las montañas, tardes en el bus, en la ruta, tomando mate y muchas pero muchas noches de vino y fiesta. Digo yo que esta fue como la segunda edición de mi viaje de egresados, porque de verdad la pasé tan bien como en ese viaje de mi adolescencia. Fue genial, no podría haber esperado que saliera mejor ❤️.
From April to July I thought many times about whether taking that trip had been a good decision because I was worried about not having a good time. I had even been so anxious that I thought about not going and losing the money, but luckily I didn't let myself be carried away by my intrusive thoughts. This trip was one of the most beautiful I've taken in recent times, and it felt like my real vacation this year. Now I'm fanatic about this shared trip and I recommend it to everyone who can do it because they won't regret it. I really enjoyed traveling in the Americaenbus motorhome and making so many new friends: I would definitely repeat this experience ❤️.
Desde Abril hasta Julio pensé muchas veces en si señar ese paseo había sido una buena decisión porque me preocupaba no pasarla bien. Incluso me había dado tanta ansiedad que pensé en no ir y perder el dinero, pero por suerte no me dejé llevar por mis pensamientos intrusivos. Este paseo fue uno de los más hermosos que hice en este último tiempo, y se sintieron como mis verdaderas vacaciones de este año. Ahora quedé fanatizada con este viaje compartido y lo recomiendo a todos los que puedan hacerlo porque no se van a arrepentir. Me gustó mucho viajar en el motorhome de americaenbus y hacer tantos amigos nuevos: definitivamente repetiría esta experiencia ❤️.
