Water-falling in love with the enchanting world of Inambakan Falls

Hello Hive!

Last weekend, my friends and I went into a short vacation. We found ourselves at a friend's charming townhouse somewhere in the heart of Ginatilan. I have been in this beautiful place several times already and spent so many good and fun times. As we stepped into this familiar abode, a certain memory from our visit one year ago came rushing back. And so, I decided to share with you our first time trip to one of Ginatilan’s favorite travel destinations: the Inambakan Falls.

Read on and reminisce with me (wink).

The majestic Inambakan Falls

Situated in the barangay of Calabawan, Ginatilan, in the southwestern region of Cebu, Philippines, lies the majestic Inambakan Falls. To reach this natural gem, board a bus at the Cebu South Bus Terminal, following the Bato via Barili route to Ginatilan. Upon arrival at the drop-off point, a short 10 to 15-minute motorcycle ride will transport you to the captivating falls.

Derived from the Cebuano word “ambak,” which means “to jump,” Inambakan Falls stands at a towering height of 100 feet, making it one of the tallest waterfalls in the region. The name is fitting, as aside from swimming, it also offers cliff jumping, perfect for thrill-seekers.

In addition to the incredible flora and fauna of the area, what makes Inambakan Falls truly remarkable is its multi-level trek that leads to its several pools—specifically, five different levels of pools spread out across the location.

From Bottom to Top: The Epic First Level

From the parking area, an easy downhill climb on concrete steps will lead you to the entrance and with a 50PHP entrance fee, you can now step into this natural haven.

The first cascade greets you with the roaring yet calming sound of falling water blending with the peaceful atmosphere. For a brief moment, I simply gaze and admire the beauty before me.

Luckily, we were the first to arrive at the place. Amazed by the picturesque view, my friends and I immediately took group photos and solo shots. After capturing a good number of pictures, we finally decided to take a refreshing swim. We made sure to wear our life jackets before plunging into the cold, gatorade-blue water.

This level is the tallest and most powerful among the five cascades, making standing under it the best way to experience Mother Nature's massage. Our guide then cautioned us against swimming directly under the falling water, as its force could push us downward. Behind the cascading water, there is a small cave-like formation.

Moments later, we decided to climb up to try and see the next level.

Unadulterated Paradise Found: Second Level

The second level sits just right above the main falls. This level has slippery boulders so you have to be extra careful with your steps. The water here flows on a gentle slope towards the emerald pool. The touch of cold water of this absolute pure nature wonder is invigorating. Of course, we did not leave the area without taking pictures.

Interconnected Beauties: Third and Fourth Level

Up we go to the third and fourth level.

These two interconnected pools, though relatively small, still exude a cosy and inviting ambiance. Despite being slightly smaller and not as deep as compared to the main waterfall, these levels provide decent and enjoyable cliff jumps, adding a touch of excitement to your experience.

Taking into nature’s shower: Fifth level

Now we’re down to the last level. Among the five cascades, the fifth tier is my personal favorite. The emerald pool is not too deep and not too shallow. It's perfect for those, like me, who can't swim but want to enjoy a pleasant dip in the cool and refreshing water.

Similar to the main waterfall, a charming little cave is nestled behind the cascading water.

Just look at our happy faces. We had so much fun basking in nature’s own shower.

Nothing compares to exploring a hidden and unspoiled nature that only a few people know about. We get to enjoy the waterfalls all to ourselves, making the experience even more memorable.

I’ve read somewhere that waterfalls inspire humans in so many ways. They are endless, strong and forever moving. Once you experience their allure, you'll find yourself irresistibly drawn to chase and immerse in their majestic, tranquil beauty forever.
