Malacca - Malaysia

Malacca, also known as Melaka, is a city in Malaysia known for its rich history and cultural heritage and was a major trading port during the 15th and 16th centuries. As a result, it has been influenced by various cultures, including Chinese, Indian, and European. This is reflected in the city's architecture, which includes a mix of traditional Malay, Chinese, and European styles. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008 for its well-preserved historic buildings and landmarks, such as the A Famosa fortress, St. Paul's Hill, and the Cheng Hoon Teng temple. Additionally, Malacca is known for its delicious street food, which reflects its diverse cultural influences.

From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the rich history and heritage reflected in the city's architecture. The mix of traditional Malay, Chinese, and European styles was truly captivating, and I found myself constantly stopping to take in the sights, aromas, and sounds around me. The delicious street food I tried in Malacca was a real treat for my taste buds. The food reflected the city's diverse cultural influences, and I truly appreciate the city's rich cultural heritage and diversity. As William Gibson said, "In Malacca, the buildings were like melting cake, with all the rich details running down into the street." Enjoy!
