Streets are a blessed thing especially for us, the travellers, because without them we couldn’t get between places or discover new corners of cities. They might stand out through structure, the architecture of the buildings surrounding them, but also by its size, which does matter in this case!
Just as in the case of The Narrowest Street of Romania this one used to be more of a passage or an alley between two buildings that a long while ago served as a fire escape. However, with the evolution of interests when it comes to tourists, it sort of became a cool way to walk through narrow paths when you find any, and if they are marked as being the narrowest of that country, things are becoming even more entertaining!

The one from Romania is around 130cm wide and it used to be presented as the 3rd narrowest street in the world, but the one from Prague was a lot narrower than that, which makes me wonder where is it in the top of the narrowest streets of the world?
There are many sayings this is only 70cm wide, but a more recent study made by a tourist said that is actually 50cm wide which obviously, puts it in a different vision for all of us. I didn't have a ruler with me (who carries one as a tourist anyway?) to figure out which is the truth, but I did feel the walls holding me in a hug way closer than any other path I've walked on before.
Even if there are plenty of results of "Prague's Narrowest Alley" or "The Narrowest Street of Prague", its actual name is Nejužší ulice and this is also the one you will see on the map.
There is another source to find it by the English name if you write it on the google but where you will see marked as being "Permanently Closed".
This was surprising to see as there are still reviews left recently which makes me wonder if it is closed for real, but what I do know is that there are formed long queues of tourists waiting to walk by the alley and that you can wait a bit until feeling this experience for yourself.
There are two traffic lights placed both at the beginning and at the end of the street which are working 24/7 and controlling the pedestrians walking the path, that I strongly suggest you to respect because there won't be enough space to pass one by the other even if you squeeze yourself and stay by the wall.
You need to take the lights seriously because traffic jams and people collisions can be caused and apparently someone even got stuck here once.
Sadly, this place earned lots of attention in the past few years which leads to hundreds of tourists daily.
In a normal situation people would be happy to hear about having an area populated with tourists, but in the case of The Narrowest Street of Prague this one leads to a restaurant that did plenty of accusations that having people buzzing around is against their policy and that came with a great loss in terms of clients for their business.
From my research, it seems that the CEO of the restaurant is the one who made the location shown on the map as "Permanently Closed" with the hope that the tourists won't come anymore, but they are still going which is now leading to having an undergoing process to obtain the access to the traffic lights and even lock the alley so it's open just for the people who are coming for the restaurant.

If you are asking me, I am not too sure about the opinion I should have. I think that I am somehow in the middle where I can understand the frustration of the restaurant owner, as well as his clients that don't want to see tens of people talking by every minute because no one enjoys to have a drink or some food in a place that is constantly crossed by lots of people.
But on the other hand, being a tourist and seeing everything with my own eyes makes me understand the curiosity of those walking by and that's it's not a thing you see every day. So it makes sense to want to get there and have a unique experience.
The Narrowest Street of Prague is located 150 meters from the Charles Bridge in the Mala Strana district and it's right next to U Luzickeho seminare 24. There used to be road signs indicating it as well but most likely they are gone now. The complete address for it is: Vinarna Certovka, off U Lužického Semináře, 118 00, Malá Strana, Czechia
In order to reach it you can use Metro line A to Malostranska station or Tram 2, 18, 22 having a stop at Malostranska as well.
