Dong Dinh Museum ( Son Tra Peninsula ) - A place to preserve Culture through many layers of time

Hi everybody! How is everyone today? I hope all good things come to you. So we have ended the year 2021 and entered the first day of 2022 with hopes for a brighter future. Billions of people around the world have begun to enter the new year 2022, despite the threats of the Omicron mutation, I am truly happy, to be able to see the colorful fireworks display of the country. In many parts of the world, it is like a good hope for a new year. My city this year does not have fireworks or outdoor music sessions to welcome the new year, due to city restrictions. But this year I am extremely happy, with my family, counting down the time together, stepping through the new year moment. I wish everyone a joyful, healthy, prosperous, and prosperous new year! On the first day of the new year, everyone will surely spend time with their families or have trips to enjoy their days off. I started again for my upcoming studies at school. Due to the impact of the epidemic, I have been studying online for a while and this is the first time I am starting for the first days of school, as a university student. Today's article of mine will write about a tourist destination of Da Nang city. I am very happy to be able to share this place with the worldwide travel community. The place that I want to introduce today is the Dong Dinh Museum, located on the Son Tra peninsula.

I have written many articles about museums in my city, if people want to review those articles, I will leave a link below my article. I am a lover of works of art and historical values. When going to a tourist city, everyone will surely go to the famous tourist attractions of that place, but for me, it is different. I love going to the museums of that city and from within those museums, will be the showcase of the rich history of the city that I want to explore. That place helps me understand the historical periods of formation and works of art. The museum that I want to introduce today is very different from the museums that I have introduced before, this place is far from the city center and is a place to keep the memories of the old fishing village of Da Nang.

Dong Dinh Museum is 15km east of Da Nang city center. Located at Hoang Sa street, Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city. Dong Dinh Museum is located on the tourist route of the Son Tra peninsula. We can easily move from Vo Nguyen Giap and follow Hoang Sa road to lead visitors to Son Tra mountain. Dong Dinh Museum is located in the middle of a steep winding pass and is very close to the famous Linh Ung pagoda. Because it is located on a high slope, it is known by very few tourists. From the outside of the gate, there will be a barrier and on the wall, there will be the words "Dong Dinh Museum - The Garden of Memory". The surrounding area still does not have a car park, so it is more suitable to visit by motorbike. After parking the car at the bottom of the museum, I started going up the entrance of the museum. Stepping inside the museum, the first thing that impresses me is that it has a green space, close to the nature of the mountains. With long rows of curved bamboo trees, like gates to welcome visitors. The area of the museum is also quite large because it is located at the bottom of Son Tra mountain, so there is a small waterfall flowing down around the area of the museum. The ticket price of the museum is 20,000VND, equivalent to 1$, children under 12 years old will be free to enter. Because it is a private museum, it is not free to enter like other museums of Da Nang. Dong Dinh Museum is open every day of the week, the time frame for visiting the museum is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Through research, I learned that the name Dong Dinh is because there is a tree belonging to the areca family (Caryota mitilour)., which grows very popularly in Son Tra and this tree is called Dong Dinh. In addition, this place has another name with the name "The Garden of Memory".

Dong Dinh Museum consists of four main areas, each area is a memory of history. This place is managed by an elite artist Doan Huy Giao. It took him more than 10 years to build this museum. It was he who collected antiques dating from 100 years to 2500 years. Many artifacts belonging to Dai Viet, Sa Huynh, and Cham Pa cultures are kept here. Inside the museum, there are 4 main areas, the first area is located on the left-hand side of the museum, this place is called "Memory of the fishing village" in this room, where the fishing village's fishing equipment is kept. Nam Tho. This is a fishing village of Da Nang from the 15th century and the bottle village is located at the foothills of the Son Tra peninsula. Today, the fishing village is called Tho Quang. Outside the fishing village house, I could see the simple fishing equipment of the fishermen. Items such as oars and fishermen's tools are displayed around the outside of this house. Stepping inside, there are pictures of Nam Tho fishing village and the fishing village's sacrifices and prayers, written in the Nom script of the 18th century, which are still preserved in this room. There are also a few fragments of the wooden boat of the fishing village, which was unfortunately blown away by the storms.

Entering the next area is another house, where this is a display area of paintings. Outside this house is located on a high ground, surrounded by large rocks. There is also a beautiful old tree growing in front of this house. Stepping inside this house is the place where the black and white works of painter Dinh Y Nhi are kept with her oil paintings kept here. There are also experimental paintings by author Dang Viet Trieu. This is one of my favorite rooms in this museum, the works of art with an abstract style always make viewers have different ways of thinking when viewing each work.

After visiting this house, I continued to the house on stilts next door. This place keeps the collections of Vietnam's ethnic minorities, collected from all over the world, exhibit exhibits recreating the daily life and spiritual life of ethnic minorities, the Central Highlands, and the central region. This room is being repaired and visitors are restricted from entering, so I can only see everything outside of this house. Outside the house, there are wooden masks, woven baskets made of rattan, and jars abound around this house. If I come here again in the future, I will visit this house.

Continue to step into another area of the museum, which is the display area of ancient antiquities of Dong Dinh Museum. There are two main houses here. Each house has a style of Kim Bong carpentry village. Inside, with many columns, the communal house is made of wood. Below the floor is lined with red stone tiles. Each house is displayed with collections of unique cultural value. Ancient artifacts are kept in these two houses through each Vietnamese feudal dynasty. Each collection will be displayed in glass frames, each work is a different dynasty of Viet Nam such as Sa Huynh culture, ceramics of Dai Viet, through each dynasty such as Ly, Mac, Le, Tran, Nguyen... There are also collections of pottery of the Champa era, also kept in this house. Maybe people will be surprised why this room, contains Chinese works. As everyone knows, Viet Nam is a country that suffered more than 1000 years of Chinese domination and inside the house, there are still displays of Chinese dynasties such as Han, Ming, Quing, and other collections. This collection was found in Viet Nam and was collected and displayed here by Mr. Doan Huy Giao

After going through all the sightseeing areas here, I can take a walk in this garden that has many streams flowing here. Fresh air, with smooth green trees. Currently, at the museum there is a coffee shop in front of the museum, the price of coffee here is also very affordable. With an elevated position, this place has a very beautiful position to be able to see the sea and Da Nang city. It will be great if we can catch the beautiful sunset here in the afternoon. Below is the road, which will lead people to discover famous tourist attractions of the Son Tra peninsula. If I have the opportunity, I will introduce them to everyone in my next articles.
