Hello everyone!!!
I hope you are well or are trying to be well. Today I am a little bit excited because the ancient city we will visit is a city that I have seen all my life, I could not get there, but I finally managed to visit.
Aphrodisias
My interest in Aphrodisias has never changed both in my classes and in high school. I think this is partly due to my interest in Aphrodite. I even realised that I visited this ancient city with Aphrodite's hair colour. Yes, my previous hair colour was completely inspired by this goddess. At least the hair colour of this beautiful woman whom Botticelliresembled in his daily life.
Although it may not seem convincing to us, in fact, most of the paintings from ancient times carry the faces of the favourite beauties of that period, just like Botticelli's Birth of Venus I mentioned above.
Since we arrived here at sunset, I started this part by taking a photo of myself on the bus. I probably sent it to Nabi 😂 I remember this was exactly when I was waiting for everyone to get off the bus. After all, it is not easy to tour in a bus with 54 people. You have to wait in a queue to get off.
The first thing that greets you at the entrance of the ancient city is an information board.
As you can see from the title, these masks and girlands are very popular here. It makes sense that this is a sculpture school. I can't help but wonder how many students have made these engravings here with what dreams.
After a little further, we come across these two information boards. The Temple of the Emperors describes the photo you see above, while the Sebasteion describes the photo you see below.
Unfortunately, the photo quality of my phone could not do justice to this embroidery. What I saw with my own eyes was much more beautiful and detailed. One of the reasons why these marbles are still so white is that first class quality marble is used. There are marble mines very close to this place, which I have mentioned in at least 10 writings 😂
After this, our guide directed us to the hippodrome.
And don't mind that I said hippodrome, but it is actually a stadium. It is where the famous gladiators fought, fought with lions, in short, everything we saw in Brad Pitt's movie Troy, which was released in 2004. Of course, we didn't stop, we went inside the stadium for the children in us. Unfortunately I don't have a video of me running with the songs, but I do have a short video showing how we were doing.
But before that, before going down, we went inside the theatre in Aphrodisias.
Of course, we have an information text for this part as well. With a capacity of 7000 seats, this theatre was quite big, even though it sounds small to my ears now. Nobody wanted to go down because there were so many places we still had to go. Like the Tetrapylon.
As we went on, we passed by the stadium again because it was so big.
You need to be prepared to walk in this ancient city.
In this section, we came across a section that they have turned into an open-air museum. This section is actually one of the things that best shows us the level of development of Aphrodisias as a city.
I would love to see something similar where I live, and then there are a lot of information boards. That's why I'm skipping them because we all know that you won't read them. I only photographed them because I thought I couldn't find them anywhere else.
After this we finally made it to the stadium.
After running around here for about half an hour, we started walking to catch our breath and cool down a bit. You don't want to be in the wind at a time like this, right? Walking is the best option.
Now it's time for the Temple of Aphrodite.
Now I would like to give you a little information. In the mid-1900s, Ara Güler was out taking photographs for a newspaper article when she noticed something in the area and told her friend at the time, archaeologist Kenan Erim, about the existence of this place. Later, Kenan Erim devoted his whole life to Aphrodisias. Of course, considering the budget that was not allocated for such things at that time and the conditions of the strike of the period, he received funding from New York University in 1962.
I'm glad he did what he did. I am very grateful.
When you go a little further, it connects to the famous Tetrapylon. Now, although I have travelled to so many places, I don't remember encountering anything like this in half of Türkiye.
When you go to a place like this, of course you have to take silly photos, right?
I spent a VERY long time here. I took very detailed and reproducible photographs for you. And also some ridiculous photographs with me in them.
These details were too far away for me to see. I have bad eyesight, I can't see far.
Finally, I would like to add our group photo. There are two groups here. The other head guide was nearby and we thought why don't we try it together. I thought it was cute. This Tetrapylon is very famous. I am sure that someone who does not know this ancient city has seen this structure somewhere.
After leaving here, we came across a few artefacts while waiting for our bus at the entrance.
This was my favourite. Although this place represents the theatre, we, together with the other guides, joked ‘Which face should I use today?’.
I should also add that the grave of dear Kenan Erim is in this ancient city because of his labour.

With the special place of this ancient city in me, I feel as if a lost part of me has come back. Don't stop doing things that are valuable to you, okay? At the end of the day, there is no one to support you but you, while even your partner, with whom you put your head in the same bed, may not understand you.

Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Bugün ben biraz heyecanlıyım çünkü ziyaret edeceğimiz antik kent benim bütün hayatım boyunca önüme çıkan, bir türlü varamadığım ama en sonunda ziyaret etmeyi başardığım bir kent.
Aphrodisias
Gerek derslerimde gerekse lisede Aphrodisias'a olan ilgim hiç değişmedi. Bunun biraz da benim Aphrodite'e olan ilgimden olduğunu düşünüyorum. Hatta şimdilerde bu antik kenti Aphrodite'in saç renginde ziyaret ettiğimi fark ettim. Evet, bundan önceki saç rengimi tamamen bu tanrıçadan esinlenmiştim. Yani en azından Botticelli'nin günlük yaşamında benzettiği bu güzel kadının saç renginde.
Bize her ne kadar inandırcı gelmeyebilecek olsa da aslında antik zamanlardan kalma resimlerin çoğu o dönemin gözde güzellerinin yüzlerini taşıyor aynı yukarıda bahsettiğim Botticelli'nin Venüs'ün Doğuşu gibi.
Buraya gün batımında vardığımızdan dolayı bu kısma ilk olarak otobüste kendi fotoğrafımı çekmekle başlamışım. Büyük ihtimalle Nabi'ye gönderdim bunu 😂 Bunun tam olarak herkesin otobüsten çıkmasını beklerken olduğunu hatırlıyorum. Sonuçta 54 kişi ile bir otobüste tur yapmak hiç kolay değil. İnmek için sıra beklemek gerekiyor.
Antik kentin girişinde sizi karşılayan ilk şey bir bilgilendirme tahtası oluyor.
Başlıktan da anlayabileceğiniz üzere bu maske ve girlandlar burada oldukça popüler. Burasının bir heykelcilik okulu olması bunu mantıklı yapıyor. Acaba kaç öğrenci ne hayallerle buraya bu işlemeleri yaptı diye düşünmeden edemiyorum.
Biraz ilerledikten sonra ise bu iki bilgilendirme tahtası ile karşılaşıyoruz. İmparatorlar Tapınağı yukarıda gördüğünüz fotoğrafı anlatırken Sebasteion aşağıda gördüğünüz fotoğrafı anlatıyor.
Ne yazık ki telefonumun fotoğraf çekme kalitesi bu işlemelere hakkını verememiş. Kendi gözlerimle gördüğüm çok daha güzel ve detaylıydı. Bu mermerlerin hâlâ bu kadar beyaz olmasının sebeplerinden biri birinci sınıf kalitede mermer kullanılmış olması. Buraya çok yakın mermer yatakları bulunuyor ki bundan en azından 10 yazımda bahsetmişimdir 😂
Buradan sonra rehberimiz bizi hipodrom kısmına yönlendirdi.
Bir de bakmayın hipodrom dedim de aslında stadyum burası. Meşhur gladyatörlerin savaştığı, aslanlarla dövüştükleri yani kısaca Brad Pitt'in 2004 yılında perdelere yansıyan filmi Troy'da gördüğümüz her şey denilebilir. Bu kısımda açık hava müzesi hâline getirdikleri bir bölümle karşılaştık. Bu bölüm aslında Aphrodisias'ın bir kent olarak gelişmişlik düzeyini bize en iyi şekilde gösteren şeylerden biri.

Burası biraz daha ilerleyince hemen meşhur Tetrapylon'a bağlanıyor. Şimdi bu kadar yer gezmeme rağmen, bugüne kadar Türkiye'nin yarısı demek gayet uygun, böyle bir şey ile karşılaştığımı hatırlamıyorum.

Burada çooookkk uzun bir zaman geçirdim. Çok detaylı ve kendini sizin için tekrar edebilecek fotoğraflar çektim. Bir de saçma benim de olduğum fotoğraflar da.
Bu detaylar gözle görülemeyecek kadar uzaktalardı benim için. Malum gözlerim bozuk, uzağı göremiyorum.
Son olarak da grup fotoğrafımızı eklemek isterim. Burada iki grup var. Diğer baş rehber de yakınlardaydı ve neden birlikte denemeyelim dedik. Bence çok tatlı oldu. Bu Tetrapylon çok ünlü. Eminim bu antik kenti bilmeyen birisi bu yapıyı bir yerde görmüştür.
Buradan çıktıktan sonra girişte otobüsümüzü beklerken birkaç eser ile karşılaştık.
