Hello everyone! It's been about a month since I've posted here. I moved house, I was on vacation, then 2 weeks without internet.... Anyway, I haven't found the time.
Finally I feel that my new house is my new home and I have been settling into it little by little, although I still have some unopened boxes because I still have some furniture to buy, so I can place the rest of things.
I would like to get back to the rhythm of writing in Hive, so here I am, trying to pick up more or less where I left off: In my travels. I have to finish telling about the trip to Germany and also the one to Italy, so I can tell about the rest.
¡Hola a todos! Hacía como un mes que no escribía por aquí. Me he mudado de casa, estuve de vacaciones, luego 2 semanas sin internet... En fin, no he encontrado el momento.
Por fin ya siento que mi nueva casa es mi nuevo hogar y me he ido acomodando poco a poco en ella, aunque siga con cajas sin abrir porque todavía me quedan algunos muebles que comprar, y así poder colocar el resto de cosas.
Me gustaría volver a retomar el ritmo que llevaba en escribir en Hive, así que aquí estoy, intentando retomarlo más o menos donde lo dejé: En mis viajes. He de terminar de contar el viaje a Alemania y también el de Italia, para poder narrar el resto.
During my stay in Berlin I visited the Bundestag building, the parliament building. The visit is free if you book it from the official website, but they force you to take a guided tour in which they show you the different rooms. I also visited that same afternoon the open air museum of terror topography, so I will talk about and show pictures I took of both places.
BUNDESTAG
This building was built on the former site of the "Reichstag", which was partially destroyed during the Second World War. It was rebuilt after the fall of the wall.
Durante mi estancia en Berlín visité el edificio del Bundestag, el edificio del parlamento. La visita es gratuita si la reservas desde la web oficial, pero te obligan a que sea una visita guiada en la que te van enseñando las diferentes estancias. También visité esa misma tarde el museo al aire libre de la topografía del terror, así que hablaré y mostraré fotografías que tomé de ambos lugares.
Este edificio fue construido donde anteriormente estuvo el "Reichstag" que, fue destruido durante la segunda guerra mundial parcialmente. Lo reconstruyeron después de la caída del muro.
To access it, despite having previously booked a visit from the web, you have to go through some controls similar to those at the airport, as when you enter any government building. I went through a metal detector and they checked my backpack.
I had accidentally forgotten that I still had the mini bottle of Jack Daniel's that Mesh had given me the first day I landed there, so as it was not allowed to enter with glasses, they kept it in a locker for the duration of my stay and then I would have to go back for it to claim it.
Para acceder a él, a pesar de tener previa visita reservada desde la web, hay que pasar unos controles parecidos a los del aeropuerto, como cuando entras a cualquier edificio gubernamental. Pasé por un detector de metales y revisaron mi mochila.
Había accidentalmente olvidado que seguía teniendo la mini botellita de Jack Daniel's que me había regalado Mesh el primer día que aterricé allí, así que como no estaba permitido entrar con cristales, me la guardaron en una taquilla durante mi estancia y luego debería volver a por ella para reclamarla.
Inside the building there are some strange modern art paintings. This one caught my attention because it looked like insects or cockroaches climbing on it haha.
En el interior del edificio hay algunos cuadros de arte moderno extraño. Este me llamó la atención porque pareciese que fueran insectos o cucarachas trepando por él jaja.
It seems that some parts of the old structure are also preserved.
Al parecer también se conserva en algunas partes, algo de lo que fue la antigua estructura.
Passing by the library they have in this meeting room, there was a balcony and I stopped to photograph the view. Although in a while I was going to go up to the famous and modern dome of this building, which is from a higher place where you can better appreciate the city.
Pasando por la biblioteca que tienen en esta sala de reuniones, había un balcón y me detuve a fotografiar las vistas. Aunque dentro de un rato iba a subir a la famosa y moderna cúpula de este edificio, que es desde un lugar más alto donde se puede apreciar mejor la ciudad.
We crossed several long corridors where the names of the country's politicians were on a small plaque.
Cruzamos varios largos pasillos en los que los nombres de los políticos del país estaban en una pequeña placa.
Viewing the parliament hall from above, I noticed that the funnel-shaped dome was already coming into view.
Viendo la sala del parlamento desde arriba, me fijé que ya empezaba a verse la cúpula en forma de embudo.
When you go outside, you can see it perfectly. From there you could already see better views of the city, but to get to the highest part you would have to enter inside that dome and climb a ramp, suitable for the disabled, in the form of a spiral to reach the top.
Al salir afuera, ya se ve perfectamente. Desde allí ya podían verse mejores vistas de la ciudad, pero para llegar a la parte más alta habría que entrar dentro de aquella cúpula y subir una rampa, apta para minusválidos, en forma de caracol hasta llegar a la cima.
It looks futuristic, it looked like we were entering the mothership haha.
Tiene un aspecto futurista, parecía que estábamos entrando a la nave nodriza jaja
The truth is that the photos do not do justice to what you really see in person being there. But I would recommend visiting this place as it is one of the free viewpoints of this city where you can probably take a good panoramic view of Berlin.
La verdad es que las fotos no le hacen justicia a lo que realmente se ve en persona estando allí. Pero recomendaría visitar este lugar ya que es uno de los miradores gratuitos de esta ciudad donde probablemente puedas tomar una buena panorámica de Berlín.
TOPOGRAPHY OF TERROR
This is an open air museum and it is free. There is also a booth where you can access for free (with free toilets, by the way, which for me as a tourist is very important this detail xD) and where some pieces of history are also exposed.
In this museum is narrated a little bit the history of the places that were near here, as for example the prison of the secret police of the state, the central office of the SS... etc... Where all the exterminations that were being carried out were planned, and also the terror, hence the name of this museum.
Este es un museo que se encuentra al aire libre y es gratuito. También hay una caseta donde puedes acceder de manera gratuita (con baños gratuito, dicho sea de paso, que para mí como turista es muy importante este detalle xD) y donde también se exponen algunos pedazos de la historia.
En este museo se narra un poco la historia de los lugares que estaban cerca de aquí, como por ejemplo la cárcel de la policía secreta del estado, la oficinal central de la SS... etc. Donde se planeaban todos los exterminios que estaban llevando a cabo, y también el terror, de ahí el nombre de este museo.
This watchtower was very close to the museum at Potsdamer Platz.
Esta torre de vigilancia estaba muy próxima al museo, en Potsdamer Platz
