Hello everybody! Today I came to tell you about a short trip I made recently. Short because I live in Zaragoza (Aragon, Spain) and I didn't have to leave my autonomous community to get there.
Albarracín is located in Teruel, and it is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. I don't say so myself, but the official website of the association in charge of cataloguing them as such..
In Aragon there are a total of 13, of which I have had the pleasure of visiting 5 that I remember, with Albarracín there would be 6.
My friends were deciding where to go to see some nature and get out of the city to walk, or do some hiking. Finally I convinced them to visit this town and to do some simple route around there, since it was very hot and I didn't feel like walking for 5 hours under a radiant sun; by the time we arrived it was noon and the temperature was quite high.
¡Hola a todos! Hoy venía a contaros un viaje corto que hice hace poco. Corto porque vivo en Zaragoza (Aragón, España) y no tuve que salir de mi comunidad autónoma para llegar a él.
Albarracín se encuentra en Teruel, y es uno de los pueblos más bonitos de España. No lo digo yo, lo dice la web oficial de la asociación encargada de catalogarlos así.
En Aragón hay un total de 13, de los cuales he tenido el placer de visitar 5 que yo recuerde, con Albarracín serían 6.
Mis amigos estaban decidiendo dónde ir a ver un poco de naturaleza y salir de la ciudad para caminar, o hacer alguna ruta de senderismo. Finalmente les convencí para visitar este pueblo y de paso hacer alguna ruta sencilla por allí, ya que hacía mucho calor y no apetecía tampoco pegarse 5h caminando bajo un sol radiante; ya a la hora que llegamos era mediodía y estaba bastante fuerte la temperatura.
When we arrived, we left the car in the parking lot (it was not free, but the price was not excessive.... I think I remember it was 3€ for the whole day). And I looked up to see the landscape.
Cuando llegamos, dejamos el coche en el parking (no era gratuito, pero el precio tampoco era excesivo... Creo recordar que eran 3€ por todo el día entero). Y alcé la vista para ver el paisaje.
We can see how the mountain merges with the houses of the village. We headed towards a viewpoint that was at the top of some medieval stairs.
Podemos ver cómo la montaña se fusiona con las viviendas del pueblo. Nos encaminamos hacia un mirador que estaba en la cima de unas escaleras medievales.
After leaving behind this very old pharmacy, we arrived at one of the viewpoints.
Tras dejar atrás esa farmacia tan antigua, llegamos a uno de los miradores.
This viewpoint was located in the town square, which despite being very small, from there flowed all the narrow streets full of stores and souvenir stores for visitors, as well as restaurants and bars.
Este mirador se encontraba en la plaza del pueblo, que a pesar de ser muy pequeña, desde ahí fluían todas las callejuelas estrechas llenas de comercios y tiendas de souvernis para los visitantes, además de restaurantes o bares.
Otro de los atractivos de este pueblo, es su icónica muralla. Fruto del recinto defensivo que fue en su pasado. Estas murallas rodean todo el centro histórico.
Another attraction of this town is its iconic wall. Fruit of the defensive enclosure that was in its past. These walls surround the entire historic center.
We started our little route, we decided to do the river walk, to walk along the Guadalaviar river.
Empezamos nuestra pequeña ruta, decidimos hacer la del paseo fluvial, para ir caminando al lado del río Guadalaviar.
The path at first is over rocks that are a bit slippery, but soon turns into a wooden walkway that leads to stairs, which take us down to the riverbank.
El camino al principio es sobre rocas un poco resbaladizas, pero pronto se convierte en una pasarela de madera que desemboca en unas escaleras, y éstas nos llevan a orillas del río.
Along the way, I was struck by the vines that wrapped around several tree trunks, as well as a small house, which had a door in the middle of a small bridge that said "private property".
Durante el camino, me llamaron la atención las enredaderas que envolvían varios troncos de árboles, además de una pequeña casa, que tenía una puerta en medio de un puentecito que decía "propiedad privada"
There was also a ... sundial? I'm not sure if that's what it was.
También había un ... ¿reloj de sol? No estoy segura de si era eso.
Arriving at the end of the road, we saw some signs that there was a protected cat colony nearby. There were some barrels with a hole cut in them, I guess so that the cats could take shelter, although we saw some inside the houses, sunbathing on the balcony.
Llegando al final del camino, vimos algunos carteles de que había una colonia felina protegida por allí cerca. Había algunos barriles con un agujero hecho, supongo que para que los gatos pudieran resguardarse, aunque vimos algunos en el interior de las casas, tomando el sol en el balcón.
We ended up in the square again, and from there we went to look for a place to eat, walking around a bit.
Volvimos a terminar en la plaza, y de ahí fuimos a buscar dónde comer, callejeando un poco.
We pass by the house of the Navarro de Arzuriaga family, which stands out from the rest because it is painted in light blue.
Pasamos por la casa de los Navarro de Arzuriaga, que destaca sobre las demás porque está pintada en azul clarito.
We said goodbye to the village because we took the car to eat in a steakhouse that was already towards the outskirts, in order to find a place that was less crowded.
Nos despedimos del pueblo porque cogimos el coche para comer en un asador que estaba ya hacia las afueras, con el fin de encontrar un lugar que estuviese menos lleno de gente.
In my case, I ordered migas a la pastora with eggs and grapes as a starter, and my friends ordered ternasco de Aragón cannelloni with Albarracín cheese.
En mi caso yo pedí de primero unas migas a la pastora con huevo y uvas, y mis amigos se pidieron canelones de ternasco de Aragón con queso de Albarracín.
I was satisfied with my choice, but they complained that the cannelloni were not homemade, they were precooked. For the main course I ordered grilled veal cutlets with potatoes and peppers, and they both ordered grilled entrecote with potatoes and peppers as well. It seems that this time they were satisfied. And then there were the desserts!
Yo estuve satisfecha con mi elección, pero ellos se quejaban de que los canelones se notaba que no eran caseros, que eran precocinados. De segundo yo pedí chuletillas de ternasco a la parrilla con patatas y pimiento, y ellos dos pidieron entrecot a la parrilla con patatas y pimiento también. Parece que esta vez sí que estuvieron satisfechos. ¡Y quedaban los postres!
For dessert I had the cheesecake with strawberry jam and rose petals, and they had the mango mus and chocolate mus with cream.
De postre yo pedí la tarta de queso con mermelada de fresas y pétalos de rosa, y ellos el mus de mango y mus de chocolate con nata.
I was surprised that the shavings that the three of us had in our desserts, made clicks exploding in our mouths.
This was my tour of this beautiful town, I hope that if you visit Aragon someday, you can keep it in mind to visit it.
Me sorprendió que las virutas que teníamos los tres en nuestros postres, hacían chasquidos explotando en nuestra boca.
Este fue mi recorrido por este bonito pueblo, espero que si algún día visitáis Aragón, podáis tenerlo en cuenta para visitarlo.
