Maledictus Terra Book 3: Vetitum Nemus Part 9

Greetings all

Well, it looks like the crew is in for a new adventure and they have company this time.

Don't forget to read @zakludick's update before you get started.

Not sure what her next move should be, she fixed Derric with a side eye, “Weren’t you just on your way to Magna as a dragon?”

Derric shrugged, grinned, and scampered away before anyone could demand that he put a shirt on once more. Magna couldn’t help but chuckle. The odd princeling would make an excellent suitor for her daughter. If only Johnathan was still here.

Adrian noticed the pained look that crossed his mother’s face, and he knew she was thinking of his father. He had longed for so long for the man to love him, and he had all but given up in the end. The young prince leaned on his walking stick and looked out the window for a moment. He wished that his father had shown that love to him before sacrificing his life to save his only son.

“Is there going to be a problem?” Mary asked suddenly.

Adrian snapped his attention back to her, unsure of what she meant. The queen indicated between him and his uncle.

“There seems to be tense.”

Adiran snorted and said, “Mary, the boy has discovered that I am not all-knowing and that he needs to do some of his own work to gain the powers that he wants. I am not the best teacher of new things. He is disappointed. Not angry.”

Noxus snorted and looked away before Mary could catch her eye.

“Mom, it’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

“It may also be a little jealousy that his sister has suitors every other week, and he has gotten none.” Said Adiran spitefully with a wicked grin.

Adrian’s face darkened before a blush descended from his hairline, “UNCLE!”

The hall broke out into laughter.

“And another thing…”

Mortis had really wanted a silent moment to find the oneness he and Bellum had shared when the god’s magic had cruised through him weeks ago. Yet, the princess was distracting him with her niggling annoyances. All of which could be rectified if she actually talked with her mother and not him.

He was only too grateful to see Derric stride into the tomb and tap her on the shoulder. Magna spun around, almost ready to attack the thing that had irritated her. She relaxed when she saw Derric behind her.

“Where were you?” she demanded. “I thought that you were behind me.”

“I had a mission.” He said cheerfully.

“Great, now my mother is bullying you.”

“She has a job for you.”

“Oh, what now.”

“A peace treaty.”

Stunned, Magna had to blink a few times before asking, “A what now?”

Mortis couldn’t help but chuckle under his breath. It had been almost a year of constant fighting for the young woman it was likely that she no longer knew what peace was.

“Long story short, I met an old friend of my father.”

Magna seemed to grind her teeth together before opening her mouth to say something. However, after a few attempts of opening and closing her mouth, she eventually sighed heavily and said, “Right. You want me to go see my mother, and that’s why you’re being cryptic.”

“You know me too well.” He grinned.

He wrapped a hand around her head and pulled her closer to kiss the center of her forehead. Magna pushed him off of her and muttered, “Not in front of others. Not yet.”

“It’s just Mortis.”

“Excuse you?” muttered the Revenant.

“I’m sure the queen would like to talk to you too.”

Mortis, giving up on reaching Bellum while so much was going on, decided it was best to move to the upper parts of the castle to see what was going on. He walked up toward the young adults and turned them to walk in front of them.

“Not in front of the ancestors either.”

Magna blushed, and Derric roared with laughter.

After a quick recap, everyone who needed to be brought up to speed was brought up to speed, with the addition of one new person. Fearing the worst when Noxus reached out to him, Gorox had pulled a mage to send him straight to the castle where she was, hammer ready. While the rest of the castle goers seemed shocked, seeing no green skins were attacking, Gorox set his hammer aside and pulled Magna into a tight embrace.

“It’s only been a few months, and look how you have grown!” he exclaimed.

Adrian looked at this in a mixture of horror and confusion. No one treated his sister like this, not even he. Magna, while not fully thrilled at the idea of being manhandled, laughed and begged the hulking warrior to put her down.

“So, has the wolf beast made an honest woman of you yet?”

“Excuse me!” demanded Mary.

Gorox waved an apologetic hand to the queen before lifting his hammer to have the shaft resting over his broad shoulders. He then looked around the room with all the faces that stared at him in bewilderment.

“Why? We faced death together.” He said.

“And you don’t treat Derric in that manner?” demanded Mary.

“The boy can turn into a dragon; I’d prefer not to.” Said the marauder honestly.
Gorox then turned to Noxus and said, “So, you were saying, greenskins.”
