Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you are having a great time. This will be Week 128, Edition 01 of our Weekly Featured Content.
So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week which is “PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “PATERNITY LEAVE”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their thoughts on fathers who just had new kids being allowed to take extended paternity leave just like their female counterparts. There were varied opinions supporting this motion and those that also didn't see the need.
We got to see just how beneficial such a policy would be, it would serve as a bonding time for the couple and their new child. However, some members were also quick to point out the disadvantages of such a policy and how it would affect the labor market in the long run. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w127e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. PATERNITY LEAVE: PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA by @kushyzee
This author told us that he believes it’s a good idea for the father to be given paternity leave as this would give him the time to be able to devote fully to the nursing mother and the baby. Without having to worry about work, the father can bond with the baby and spend quality time with both mother and child.
A LITTLE CHANGE FOR PRECIOUS MOMENTS by @intishar
For this author, he is also in support of the idea of fathers getting paternal leave. The days of the men being neutral in such situations are now in the past and more focus is now spending time with family to create special moments. Paternity leave will really help to foster that.
IS PATERNITY LEAVE ESSENTIAL? @amberkashif
For this author, she doesn’t think the idea of a paternity leave is essential. This is because in a society where the joint family system is prevalent, the extended family steps in to assist the nursing mother in all the ways she would need, thereby allowing the man to focus on work. So, even though the father doesn’t take leave from work, the mother still won’t have to do everything herself.
