Ever since I and Jane got married, my life fall into place as i have dreamt. Even while while we were yet courting, she seemed to like everything that I like especially coffee. Gosh! this part made me cheerished her most. She seem to know how to even prepare it better than everyone I have been with and myself as well.
Now we are happily married, blessed with two smart kids who always supports me in all I do. Honestly if you would ask me to give a name to my family, I would boldly call it coffee family. I don't know, but it seems it's in our gene. Everyone in the house knows it's a daddy something. Each moment I have with them at the table with coffee, I feel alive.
My beloved wife Jane, never ceased to amaze me with her love for coffee, it's not that I don't know her to like coffee but recently it's just so funny how she could finish a cup filled with coffee to the brim. Sometimes I wonder if I love coffee that much as I claim when I see her consuming it more than I do
Usually I don't like being in the kitchen, the last time I prepared coffee for myself was about two years back. Since I got married to her , the taste of my coffee doesn't seem to relieve me like hers. Yesterday something funny happened. Jane has been pleading with me to help her with some chores in the kitchen but I have been dodging them and have the kids do it instead, the reason is I hate kitchen work.
Well, as a loving husband, yesterday, I decided to surprise her while she was preparing some coffee for all of us. when I got into the kitchen and came from behind her tip toeing, I was shocked to see her putting coffee into my favorite cup but on hers and the kids it was tea.
I couldn't believe my eyes, I called her name and she was shocked to see me there, looking straight into my eyes she started apologizing. She confessed that all this while she and the kids never liked coffee but they had no option rather than pretend in my presence because they don't want to get me hurt. For the past ten years that I have been with her it was only on few occasions that she consumed coffee but often times it was tea, that is even the reason why she doesn't sit close to me when taking what's in her cup.
Wow!! I felt this sharp cut in my heart when I heard that. To be frank, I was really pissed off. My basic problem was the deceit and not even about coffee. Why would she lie to me? I am her husband for crying out loud. What is she teaching the kids.
Out of anger, I left the house and took a walk to the nearest coffee shop and ordered for a cup of coffee. when I got back home relieved. I called her and said honey, we have been married for ten years now. You know how much I love you. You know how much I also love coffee. You were even the person that made me fall in love with it more because of the magic you do while preparing it.
But you see you don't need to lie to me. You should have opened up and told me you don't really like it, I wont kill you. Every human has their taste and preferences, trust me I won't force mine on you. If coffee is not your thing, then let it be, you don't need to be an hypocrite. Though I felt bad, because I know how beneficial coffee is, that's why I made it my family drink. But you can do you own thing honey. I am sure that yourself, you would see the need to join me someday.
There is no need to feel bad anymore, I forgive you. Come and get a hug from daddy, and please don't forget to prepare me some coffee, I really missed it today.
