Over the past few weeks I've been thinking more about this, and I've found myself trying to hold myself back when thinking of making another purchase of a bundle of games.
Stocking Up
On one hand, I need to stop making impulse buys based purely on the idea of earning money in the future.
When I see a bundle of games, with a couple in there that are worth the initial cost of the bundle I find myself racing to either message the seller with an offer, or talking to the person behind the counter, whether the bundle is seen online, or in a shop.
I've seen my collection of stock balloon over the past few weeks, which is amazing. Right now, I have enough stuff to upload 2 - 3 items a day for about 2 - 3 months solid. I even dug out some old games I have laying around which I don't mind parting with, in order to have an even large amount of stuff to sell.
While I do want to hold back when I see something worth picking up, I do have this niggling voice in the back of my mind which says, "what if another deal like this doesn't come along for a while?" That voice is going to lead me down a dark road I think, or at least, that's my fear now.
The Shops Are Drying Up
It had been weeks, maybe months since I looked around any of the charity shops in my hometown, and on Thursday I had a half day so decided to take a wander before going home.
The first, and the one with the best stuff usually, only had cloths, books, and a few board games and toys. No DVDs, and no games.
I asked about them and the guy said they don't take DVDs anymore, and I assume they don't take games either. That was a shock to me, and after going to the other shops and having found nothing, I was kind of scared.
The shops in Aimee's hometown seems to still have, and accept them, so that's good, but what if that well dries up too?
In fairness, it kind of has already, probably thanks to the help of yours truly.
We were out this morning, and there weren't any games in 3 of the shops, and in one I went through their stack and picked out one, and in another I picked up another one. Spent 3.50 on some stuff that may take in 7 - 10 Euros.
Not bad, but not great either. Especially since it's been about 2 - 3 weeks since the last time I was in and picked up any games.
Now, they did have a large stack of Xbox games, maybe 10+, and a few PS3, PSP games too. But, all of them were marked at a 5er a piece, and just weren't worth the purchase since I'd be lucky to get over a 5er for them online.
The Buyers Rush
I don't know if there is already a descriptive name for the feeling when you see a deal.
Walking into a shop, and seeing a stack of games is great. I get kind of giddy at the possibilities of what is there, and get this rush of excitement when I see a few familiar games, and at that, ones that are valuable.
Coming across the stack of PS1 games was amazing, and it was even better when I started seeing some really popular titles. Same as when I purchased the reasonable stack of Xbox games.
The feeling is great, and I love getting them back, checking the condition, and doing a bit of searching online to find a rough value. I could do that all day and not get bored.
The idea of buying has numerous layers of excitement for me, and it's disappointing to go looking in shops to find that the selection is either slim, or non-existent. Due to that, I've gotten an urge to pick things up when I see them, rather than letting good deals slip by.
Looking through the stack of games there today, they had a lot of sports titles, and Kinect games, and at a 5er each it wasn't worth it, however, 2, maybe 3 each would make me reconsider.
Another Road Block
A few days ago I wrote a post about how nothing ever goes right, and for anyone who read it, you know the pain I've had trying to set up this shop.
Well, those parcels that were late arrived today. I was a bit weirded out by the unusually small package, considering they were meant to be 50 Padded envelopes. They weren't and instead I got 12 ink cartridges for some random printer.
They sent the wrong thing, now I have all this ink and no packages to send the games out, so it'll be more time wasted before getting this off the ground. What the hell is going on?
It's annoying, but they sent the money back and said I don't need to send the ink back to them.
Anybody need any ink? I'm rich in it now, and will give a good deal.
