Kayaking Horseshoe Lake, Leaves, Batch 82 Finished - Monday

Yesterday morning I went around the farm and checked that I didn't have to harvest or I could let picking go for the day at least. The truck was already loaded with the kayaks so it was just getting ourselves and accoutrements ready. We made it to the lake by 10am but it was a half hour before our friends would arrive.

We decided to go out for a paddle around the south end of the lake while we waited or them to arrive.

Just before 10:30 they were unloaded on the shore and in the water by 10:30.

As we paddled across the lake towards the waterfall both boys were already tired so we hooked their kayaks up so we could tow them.

The first time we have been to the waterfall when no one else was there. R instantly began climbing the left side trying to get to the top.

I went the easy way and showed them the trail up the right side which is quite easy compared to the falls.

A young couple paddled in after a bit and hung out at the waterfall after we left.

R and I went climbing through the bushes on a sorta trail to go upstream to where the 2 streams connect. This big pool looked pretty deep and is the confluence point.

Down stream stays a couple feet deep or more until just above the falls.

J eventually made his way up so both boys could wander around the top of the falls.

Both boys jumped in the water after we paddled down the lake a ways, to practice getting back on their kayaks.

As we paddled back to the launch R got comfortable since he was on tow.

We got to shore and loaded up the trucks and soon were on our way home. The crowds were streaming in as we were heading back to shore so we were all rather happy to avoid the masses.

With it being nice and hot my leaves had all dried quite nicely so I crumbled them all into the bag then transferred the crumbled leaves to a jar in the house.

I also went to pick beans in the garden but found that they are all way too old after getting over 5 pounds and so I am unable to fulfill the 14 pounds of orders. Thankfully Melissa is understanding and would rather I prioritize quality. I still have the squash and cucumbers to deliver this morning though.

The freeze drier finally finished the batch. All the trays came out really dried and ready to be crumbled into powder. All the trays went into one bag together and next will be peppers and probably more cucumbers.

Soaking was nice n my sore shoulders and back from all the paddling.

Today I go drop off the co-op orders then I will go get in a sled ride at Saltese. Then on the way home I have to stop and get dog food. I should also see if I can go get the next 3 bales of hay before the storms hit this afternoon and evening. I will have to make sure everything is ready for rain as well.
