Podemos tener nuestras necesidades básicas satisfechas y no sentirnos felices?
Aprendí a retarme.
No obstante, aquí estoy.

Hello friends of Empower Talents. A suggestive initiative proposed by
@talents for this week. In fact, some time ago I often asked myself this question, an existential one if you will.
Do we go through life living or surviving? At some point in my life I associated these two options with the possession or not of material resources that undoubtedly facilitate our existence. However, over time I have come to understand that enjoying comforts does not necessarily mean that we find fulfillment in our lives. We can possess many resources and feel empty at the same time.
So, if we hear over and over again that we are in this world to be happy, why do we find it so hard to achieve it? An important point to understand the origin of this situation, I think it is necessary to find it in the analysis of a question inherent to the human being: we often desire what we do not have.
Hence, I may lack material resources and long for them, believing that they will bring me happiness, that they will guarantee me "to live life to the fullest". But I may also possess those resources and long for a little simplicity in my life, for peace of mind.
Can we have our basic needs met and not feel happy? Of course we can. I do not speak from my own experience in this case. I have not had the possibility of enjoying an abundance of resources at any stage of my life. But, based on the experiences of acquaintances, I can attest that what for me was the ideal context to be happy, to get out of the survival mode in which I have often found another person did not bring enough to his or her life.
I have met very humble people who have given me the feeling that they have lived their years to the fullest, despite the fact that for me their existence has been a survival test. People who have found fulfillment in the enjoyment of the "little things".
I have a friend, an older man now, with whom I had the privilege of learning a lot. I remember we once made a trip to Cape San Antonio, the westernmost tip of Cuba. That is virgin territory, it can be an inhospitable place. I didn't like living in those conditions and this friend told me: let you discover the treasures that are here!
Indeed, in that place I was able to witness a sunset for the first time. I was able to observe the magic of nature happening. The harsh conditions in which we were there did not change. However, my perception of the place and above all of my situation changed.
Why? Because I learned to appreciate the magic that can be hidden in the most trivial things in nature. I also learned to put myself to the test in very difficult conditions like the ones I found there. I learned to challenge myself. I believe that overcoming obstacles makes our existence something worth living, worth experiencing.
Another point on which this initiative makes me reflect is the fact that perhaps the true essence of the action of living is in the hunger that drives you to go for what you want. It is in that interplay in which we try to reach our goals, that we realize ourselves as human beings.
Living for me does not mean having everything easy, within reach. In fact, although I respect everyone's opinion, I am grateful to my parents for the possibility, almost forced on them, to offer me only the indispensable. I grew up aware that I had to make an effort to get ahead in life.
I think that's why I consider most of my life as a test of survival. Nevertheless, here I am. Struggling to move forward.
Now, to live is not just to pass through this planet enjoying comforts but to contribute something valuable to others. For me, living is related to the possibility of creating, of leaving our fellow men a better world than the one we found when we were born.
To go through life without having contributed something to our fellow men can provoke a feeling of emptiness. I am not talking about contributing a product for which we get a Nobel Prize. If that were the case, how nice! However, I am talking about bringing value to someone's life. Perhaps a ray of hope to that person who has lost faith that life can get better.
Grateful for your company until the end I leave you a friend's hug. The photo was taken with my Xiaomi Redmi phone. Text translated to English by DeepLTranslate.
