I've never come across a café in Chiang Mai so dedicated to gluten-free offerings.

Happy Allergy Bakery. As the name suggests, it specializes in allergy-free baked goods – think gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free treats. In fact, there's a broad variety of meals, pastries, and fantastic drinks to choose from.

If you or someone you know has celiac disease, this place is a godsend. With a plethora of choices spanning food, drinks, and desserts, it's a standout. Plus, they're one of the few places I've noticed offering a selection of milks, including many plant-based options and heavy cream, without extra charges.

If you're into sustainability, you'll appreciate their bulk food and herb sections – just bring your own containers. With this set up, I was convinced the owner is foreigner but no, it's Thai owned.

I wasn’t drawn to it because of allergies, rather, I was captivated by its expansive, warehouse-like design filled with ample seating. They have an upper level that doubles as a co-working space or meeting room, although it costs 500 baht per hour for a group. Personally, I prefer the ground floor with its cozy bed corner, seats, bean bags, and other comfy spots.

It’s a fantastic place to work or even better to read, especially when the weather’s cooler (It's open air so you can imagine how it's going to be on a Thailand hot day!). As for their offerings, I wasn’t overly impressed with the bakery items as they seemed a bit generic and pricier due to their allergy-friendly nature. However, their coffee, which I got an americano was freshly brewed and reasonably priced. With plenty of space to relax and even a menu beyond baked goods, it’s worth a visit.

I would go there again to enjoy their coffee or smoothie (heard it's gucc!) with a bit of a read session :)
