At the 2011 World Champisonships Aly Raisman won the gold meadal in the team competition with future Olympic teammates Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Sabrina Vega, and Jordyn Wieber.
On the academic side, Aly Raisman was able to finish her junior year by attending Needham High School. in 2012, for her senior year, she needed to complete her studies by means of online courses. Even with the commitment to gymnastics training, she found a way to enjoy social life with her student peers. She was able to attend graduation ceremonies, and she was even able to attend her senior prom. Aly Raisman was able to balance gymnastics with formal education.
When the US Olympic team was selected for the 2012 London Summer Games, Aly was named captain of the women's gymnastics team. With help from her Olympic teammates, her team won the Gold Medal for the team competition. This was the first time since the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games that the Gold Medal went to the American team. In addition, Aly Raisman won the Gold medal for individual floor exercise and the Bronze Medal for balance beam.
