Life is seemingly returning to normal. We notice there are many on-going high-rise condominium developments. And food business is not exceptional too — they are blooming. One of the famous food trucks gathering nearby where I stay, previously at Taman Melawati, has been reopened and relocated to a place. This is good news. All the food trucks have a specified spot for them to do their businesses. Gathering all of them into one spot definitely helps to create that excitement, which will then be an indirect free advertisement too when it becomes the talk of the town.
Food Truck Melawati
If you love street food at super spacious area and open-air concept, you must visit this place. They have variety of food, mainly towards the Malay and Western cuisine, ranges from nasi lemak, otak-otak, pasta, tacos, nachos, burgers to coffee and cakes. But if you are a lover of Chinese cuisines, then you may visit another place.
Location: Jalan Melawati 1, Taman Melawati, 53100 Kuala Lumpur, Selangor
The environment was brightly litted with the power source being supplied by government. People were happily chatting away with friends and families while indulging in the food. Before we started ordering, we walked around to see which food we wanted to order. Gosh, it was difficult because there were many varieties. Finally, we settled with 3 food trucks.
Taco Loco
This is the food truck with the name Taco Loco, namely just sells tacos and burritos. The eldest son felt like eating taco so he ordered from here. He ordered the 3 pieces beef tacos. He loved it! Although if the tacos were crispy like those at Taco Bell, he would be even more satisfied. The ingredients were delicious though. So he was looking forward to try their burrito next round.
Cubanos
Another food truck we tried is called Cubanos. Not sure whether it is called after the Cuban word or after the Malay word, 'cuba' which means 'try'. I did not see any Cuban sandwich, so perhaps they are trying to name the truck after the word 'try'. They sells pasta like mac'n'cheese as well as nachos which are my boys' favourite. Therefore, we ordered one Mac'n'cheese and one nachos with cheese. The boys ate till finger-licking good for the nachos and the box for mac'n'cheese was smoothly empty. Haha. Must be super tasty cheese sauce.
The Boys Food
This food truck was owned by my husband's friend. Of course, he must give them the support. He ordered his favourite bacon and beef burger. And ordered for me a beef burger with no buns. Haha. Because I ate too much carbohydrates that day. So I did not want any carbs at night. My husband gave 9/10 for their burger.
The next day, husband brought his parents and the boy to the same place again. They had yummy mac'n'cheese again, burritos, nasi lemak, Jebon tea and 'kacang phool' dish which I did not have any photos of them. This proves that we can go to this place for few days to explore all the food trucks.
I am glad that food businesses start to flourish again although things are still not looking good with everything increasing in price especially meat and vegetables and flour. Just praying that all food businesses will survive. That is why, occasionally, we still eat out although as much as we can, we try to balance it out with some cheap homecooked meal during the week. If you are at Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, do check out this place.
