A Day At Walberswick
When I'm in Suffolk, I'm usually either on a camping site in nature, or in Southwold - a seaside town with a beautiful pier. This time I ventured out to nearby villages, one of which was Walberswick.
Walberswick is a picturesque village located on the Suffolk coast near Southwold. It offers a beautiful beach, sand dunes, and marshes, making it ideal for outdoor activities and wildlife observation. The village has a rich artistic heritage and retains its traditional charm with historic cottages.
Walberswick is connected to Southwold by a footbridge, where visitors can enjoy additional amenities and attractions. If you take the wrong turn and arrive on the wrong side of the bridge, like I did, you have to drive back to the motorway, and drive for 20 minutes around the river where to the point where the motorway crosses it, and then back down to the coast again. There is no motor bridge at the coast.
The weather was just perfect, as we've been having this month, which made for some outstanding photographs. The seagulls were out in their numbers enjoying the day and capitalising on the crab bait left behind by the crabbers.
As people rush to the southern coasts this summer, I may well be spending more time on the east coast of the island. There are many hidden gems there only 2-3 hours drive away for me, which is the same sort of time it takes me to get to most seaside towns in Kent and East-Sussex. Devon and beyond are a little farther away so I'm more likely to take the train and stay longer. A day trip to Cornwall would be pointless.
Peace & Love,
