The Romans built aqueducts, we build overpasses. Underpasses too. There's quite a few of them here in Louisville and most of them are just as good for photography as they are armed robbery. They have a unique feel to them, somewhere between prison passageway and nuclear war bunker. Maybe it's all the concrete and car exhaust.

This one is a bit famous, we just call it the Can Opener. It's a bit on the low side and seldom does a week pass that it doesn't take a bite out of a least one semi trailer. In a way it's a testament to humanity, despite all the sensors and electronic signs to warn overheight drivers it never fails to strike again.

In Louisville even the overpasses have overpasses. There's one part of town with so many of them intertwined that we just call it Spaghetti Junction. Almost makes up for the bridges that are always closing for emergency repairs.

People here tend to drive like pedestrians don't exist, so sometimes it's worth it to walk through these TV crime scene passageways.

In 2020, when covid hit road traffic dropped considerably. Road deaths actually when up however, for reasons that may have something to do with how a Nissan bumper ended up in a bus stop trash can. Wonder if you can recycle that?
