I’ve always enjoyed photographing subjects up close especially surfaces whether a body of water or a road. Shooting with the Canon EF50 lens has made this even more fascinating. Some surfaces in these pictures appear as alien landscapes though their actual size is quite small.

Here for example is birch bark:

Or the texture of a rocky shoreline:

Pavement:

Snow melting in the sun:

Frozen snowflakes on glass:

Or streams of water flowing down a window during heavy rain:

Of course the original shots were edited in Lightroom but no special filters were used just cropping and simple adjustments to sharpness and contrast.
