Hoy les comparto algo un poco diferente de lo habitual para mis post, les quiero contar sobre un mini jardín que preparé en casa con poquitas plantas y además aprovechando material que fácilmente pudo haber ido a parar a la basura.
En primer lugar quiero contarles que crecí rodeada de un jardín y patio hermosos, donde crecían o aún crecen todo tipo de plantas y árboles frutales, como mango, guanábana, ciruela, cerezas, plátanos y cambures, una gran variedad. y es que allí el suelo es tan generoso que si lanzas algunas semillitas al azar estas enseguida germinan.
También tuve el placer de sentarme en el frente de la casa por las tardes para ver el vibrante color fucsia de las flores de la Trinitaria o también llamada Buganvilla que adornan toda la pared frontal de la casa.
Pero cuando decidí mudarme, de país, me encontré con una selva de cemento por todos los lados a donde miraba, no puedo quejarme por que estoy cerquita de la playa, pero en la casa donde vivo es bien pequeñita, además de ser en un tercer piso, así que no hay donde tener un área verde para un jardín y al principio no lo sentí, pero con el tiempo anhele aquel verde que me rodeó durante toda mi infancia.
En vista del poco espacio disponible me dediqué a buscar opciones de plantas pequeñas que pudiera tener en casa sin problemas y allí fue cuando llegaron los cactus, tres materos pequeñitos que me regaló una vecina con mudas de cactus y una suculenta. Durante semanas los estuve regando y cuidando pero sentí que poco a poco se marchitaban.
No me di por vencida, decidí que podía intentar salvarlos de alguna manera.
Vi que en el supermercado tienen una sección de casa y jardin y alli encontre una saco de 2 kilos de arena negra con abono, estaba baratísima así que la compre, tambien pense que le hacia falta unos maceteros más grandes pero esos no los compre, más bien a mi hija y a mi se nos ocurrió una idea bastante ecológica.
Reciclando
Si hay una cosa que me molesta en la conciencia es echar a la basura cosas plásticas que pueden ser reusables, siempre recuerdo dos hechos indiscutibles sobre los envases plásticos y son:
Que hoy en día aún existe todo el plástico que se ha producido y desechado desde que se inventó y se usó por primera vez. Pues el plástico no se biodegrada así que cada día se acumula más y más plástico en el mundo y con lo que yo echo a la basura estoy contribuyendo a eso.
Que cuestan dinero, y ese dinero sale de nuestro bolsillo por que el precio de los envases y embalajes está incluido en el precio final de un producto, (a veces el envase cuesta más que el producto en sí) así que al echar a la basura un envase de plástico estoy arrojando también mi dinero.
Al saber toda esta información, siempre pienso en formas de reutilizar tanto como pueda los envases de plástico que llegan a casa con productos que compramos, uno de esos son las cremas de peinar que compro cada dos meses para cuidar ese cabello maravilloso que tiene mi hija, son unos potes grandes y de un plástico resistente así que cuando se termina la crema soy incapaz de botarlos, los lavamos y reutilizamos de alguna forma, la más común es que van a parar a los juguetes de Isabella, para almacenar shopkins, ropa de barbies, material escolar etc, etc, etc…
Esta vez se convirtieron en unas fantásticas macetas, las lavamos bien, les quitamos las etiquetas, le hicimos unos huequitos en el fondo para que el agua de riego circulara y listo ya tenemos unas hermosas y coloridas macetas.
Llenamos las macetas de tierra, traspasamos las plantitas allí, con mucho cuidado en el caso de los cactus pues las espinas me dan temor. Luego mi hija se encargó de trasplantar la suculenta y luego terminamos con una plantita nueva que también nos regalaron, para completar el trío de macetas.
Para finalizar, a Isabelita se le ocurrió la idea de hacerle unas caras divertidas a las macetas para darles personalidad y así quedaron listas.
Las coloque en una ventana donde no pegue demasiado el sol para no secarlas, pero que si les llega luz y humedad.
Me sorprendió mucho que al pasar más o menos dos semanas las plantitas revivieron, crecieron un poco, les avivó el color verde, los cactus empezaron a arrojar hijitos, y algunas hojas de la suculenta que se habían despegado germinaron. Mis plantitas volvieron a la vida!!.
Pensar en eso me hace reflexionar que a veces estamos secos, marchitos e infructuosos por estar sembrados en macetas muy pequeñas que no tienen espacio para que nuestras raíces se expandan, o la tierra donde estamos sembrados es pobre en nutrientes y por eso no damos frutos. Así que no somos nosotros sino el lugar donde estamos lo que no nos favorece, pero hacer cambios, renovarnos, movernos puede darnos una nueva perspectiva y favorecer tanto que es como si volviéramos a la vida.

First of all I want to tell you that I grew up surrounded by a beautiful garden and patio, where all kinds of plants and fruit trees grew or still grow, such as mango, soursop, plum, cherries, bananas and cambures, a great variety. The soil there is so generous that if you throw some seeds at random they germinate immediately.
I also had the pleasure of sitting in the front of the house in the afternoons to see the vibrant fuchsia color of the Trinitaria or Bougainvillea flowers that adorn the entire front wall of the house.
But when I decided to move to another country, I found a concrete jungle everywhere I looked, I can not complain because I am close to the beach, but the house where I live is very small, besides being on a third floor, so there is nowhere to have a green area for a garden and at first I did not feel it, but over time I longed for that green that surrounded me throughout my childhood.
In view of the little space available I started to look for options of small plants that I could have at home without problems and that's when the cactus arrived, three small pots that a neighbor gave me with cactus seedlings and a succulent. For weeks I was watering them and taking care of them but I felt that little by little they were withering.
Not giving up, I decided that I could try to save them somehow
I saw that in the supermarket they have a home and garden section and there I found a 2 kilos bag of black sand with fertilizer, it was very cheap so I bought it, I also thought that they needed some bigger pots but I didn't buy those, rather my daughter and I came up with a very ecological idea.
Recycling
If there is one thing that bothers my conscience is throwing away plastic things that can be reusable, I always remember two indisputable facts about plastic containers:
That today there is still all the plastic that has been produced and thrown away since it was first invented and used. Well, plastic does not biodegrade so every day more and more plastic accumulates in the world and with what I throw in the trash I am contributing to that.
They cost money, and that money comes out of our pocket because the price of packaging is included in the final price of a product, (sometimes the packaging costs more than the product itself) so when I throw away a plastic container I am throwing away my money too.
Knowing all this information, I always think of ways to reuse as much as I can the plastic containers that come home with products we buy, one of those are the styling creams I buy every two months to take care of that wonderful hair my daughter has, they are big pots and of a resistant plastic so when the cream is finished I am unable to throw them away, we wash them and reuse them in some way, the most common is that they go to Isabella's toys, to store shopkins, barbies clothes, school supplies etc, etc, etc, etc ....
This time they became fantastic flowerpots, we washed them well, removed the labels, made some holes in the bottom for the water to circulate and ready we have beautiful and colorful flowerpots.
We filled the pots with soil, transferred the plants there, very carefully in the case of the cactus because the thorns scare me. Then my daughter was in charge of transplanting the succulent and then we finished with a new plant that was also given to us, to complete the trio of pots.
Finally, Isabelita came up with the idea of making some funny faces on the pots to give them personality and they were ready.
I placed them in a window where the sun doesn't hit them too much so as not to dry them out, but where light and humidity can reach them.
I was very surprised that after two weeks or so the plants came back to life, they grew a little, they became greener, the cactus started to sprout, and some of the leaves of the succulents that had fallen off germinated. My seedlings came back to life.
Thinking about that makes me reflect that sometimes we are dry, withered and unfruitful because we are planted in very small pots that do not have space for our roots to expand, or the soil where we are planted is poor in nutrients and that is why we do not bear fruit. So it is not us but the place where we are that does not favor us, but making changes, renewing ourselves, moving can give us a new perspective and favor us so much that it is as if we were coming back to life.
