From the beginning of the pandemic until 2023, I had taken domestic vacations towards end of the summer season due to the pandemic and economic crisis. I don't like the vacation format that goes between hotel, sea and foods anyway. I want to explore new places as much as possible. Last year, I realized the Aegean tour that I had planned long before. I could not travel all over the Aegean, but in this travel post series, I write about the places I could visit in detail in the Aegean. The second of those is Şirince Village, which is located in Selçuk district of Izmir.

Pandeminin başlangıcından 2023 yılına kadar, pandemi ve ekonomik kriz nedeniyle yurtiçinde yaz sezonu sonlarına doğru tatile çıkıyordum. Zaten otel deniz ve yemek arasında geçip giden tatil şeklini sevmiyorum. Mümkün olduğunca yeni yerler keşfetmek istiyorum. Geçen yıl uzun zamandır yapmayı planladığım Ege turunu gerçekleştirdim. Ege’nin her yerini gezemedim ama bu gezi yazısı serisinde sizlere Ege’de detaylı gezebildiğim yerlerden bahsedeceğim. Bunlardan ikincisi İzmir’in Selçuk ilçesinde bulunan Şirince Köyü’dür.
After a one-hour tour of Ephesus Ancient City, we set out for Şirince Village. We arrived in Şirince in 20 minutes. There is also a parking problem at the entrance of Şirince. There is a paid parking lot below the entrance and there is also a tradesman at the entrance who offers you free parking on the condition that you buy a wine. Having parked the car, we started walking from what I can call the bazaar of Şirince. I came to Şirince for the first time, the first impression and the ambiance were very good. There are shops or houses selling wine all over Şirince. Şirince is a somewhat hilly place and its streets are stony. We got tired on our way up due to the tiredness caused by being on the roads since 6 am. We sat somewhere, ate something and got rest.
Yaklaşık bir saatlik Efes Antik Kenti turundan sonra Şirince Köyü’ne doğru yola çıktık. 20 dakikada Şirince’ye varmıştık. Şirince’nin girişinde de park sorunu bulunuyor. Girişin aşağısında ücretli bir otopark var ve girişte ayrıca şarap almanız karşılığı size ücretsiz otopark sunan bir esnaf bulunmaktadır. Arabayı park ettikten sonra Şirince’nin çarşısı diyebileceğim yerden yürümeye başladık. Ben Şirince’ye ilk defa gelmiştim, ilk izlenim ve ambians gayet güzeldi. Şirince’de her tarafta şarap satan dükkanlar ya da evler var. Şirince biraz tepelik bir yer ve sokakları taşlı. Saat sabah 6’dan itibaren yollarda olmamızın vermiş olduğu yorgunluk nedeniyle yukarılara doğru çıkarken yorulmuştuk. Bir yerde oturduk, birşeyler yedik ve dinlendik.

It could not be possible not to taste and buy a wine while in Şirince. Tasting some brand of wines in a few stores, we bought a bottle of wine for each of us. After a two-hour tour of Şirince, we set off for our next destination in the evening. Actually, I think that it is necessary to stop over for a day either in Selçuk or Şirince in order to visit Ephesus and Şirince in detail. We said goodbye to Şirince with the view overlooking the Old Greek houses of Şirince.
Şirince’ye gelip de şarap tatmamak, şarap almamak olmazdı. Bir kaç dükkanda bazı marka şarapları tattıktan sonra birer şişe şarap aldık. Yaklaşık iki saatlik Şirince turundan sonra akşama doğru bir sonraki destinasyonumuza doğru yola çıktık. Aslında Efes ve Şirince’yi detaylı gezmek için ya Selçuk’da ya da Şirince’de bir günlük konaklamak gerektiğini düşünüyorum. Şirince'nin Eski Rum evlerine bakan manzare ile Şirince'ye veda ettik.
