El año 2023 comenzó con gran emoción y la capacidad de encontrar en nuestros corazones el sentimiento de fe y esperanza que nos regalan los nuevos comienzos. Aunque para algunos las fechas gregorianas son simplemente números o ciclos inventados, lo cual comparto en gran medida, los mas importante es darse ese regalo para el reencuentro y para el disfrute de la familia y los buenos amigos.

En Venezuela, esos primeros días del año venían cargado de gran expectativa por el gremio de trabajadores mas grande del país, representado por el sector educativo. El mismo, durante muchos años ha venido experimentando la desatención y desmoralización de la labor por parte de las autoridades encargadas de administrar la educación del país.

The year 2023 began with great excitement and the ability to find in our hearts the feeling of faith and hope that new beginnings give us. Although for some the Gregorian dates are simply numbers or invented cycles, which I share to a great extent, the most important thing is to give oneself this gift for the reunion and for the enjoyment of family and good friends.

In Venezuela, these first days of the year were filled with great expectations for the largest workers' union in the country, represented by the education sector. For many years, this sector has been experiencing the neglect and demoralization of its work by the authorities in charge of administering the country's education system.

Desde entonces, una gran convocatoria se ha logrado gestar para que el personal docente, administrativo y obrero abandone las aulas de clases para exigir los reajustes salariales, la reactivación de todos los beneficios que se consagran en la segunda convención colectiva unitaria de los trabajadores de la educación, la discusión y firma el convenio número 3.

Since then, a great call has been made for teachers, administrators and workers to leave the classrooms to demand salary readjustments, the reactivation of all benefits enshrined in the second unitary collective bargaining agreement for education workers, and the discussion and signing of agreement number 3.

Realmente las cosas están bastante complicadas debido a que los salarios de la administración pública y privada del país se tasan en la moneda nacional (bolívares) que ha sufrido una devaluación brutal los últimos meses, hasta el punto de convertir al salario mínimo actual en apenas 6,15$.

Things are really quite complicated due to the fact that the salaries of the country's public and private administration are priced in the national currency (bolivars) which has suffered a brutal devaluation in the last few months, to the point of making the current minimum wage barely $6.15.

Ahora mismo no es posible sustentar una familia con estos números, sin embargo al país sigue entrando mucho dinero por remesas, trabajos en línea, y negocios particulares de las personas. De alguna u otra forma, los venezolanos han sabido encontrar otras opciones para llevar alimentos al hogar y no depender del salario impuesto por el ejecutivo nacional.

Right now it is not possible to support a family with these numbers, however, a lot of money continues to enter the country through remittances, online jobs, and private businesses. In one way or another, Venezuelans have been able to find other options to bring food home and not depend on the salary imposed by the national executive.

Para muchos 2022 fue un año bueno, porque se logró mantener estable los precios del dólar por un buen tiempo. Sin embargo a finales del año y todo el mes de enero del 2023 el incremento ha sido vertiginoso y en consecuencia se fueron a las nubes los costos de los bienes y servicios. Por lo que, a los maestros del país no les quedo otra cosa que salir a las calles a mostrar el descontento y exigir una mejora salarial acorde a la economía real del país y lo más relevante en este caso, dolarizar los ingresos de todos los trabajadores.

For many, 2022 was a good year, because the dollar prices remained stable for a good period of time. However, at the end of the year and throughout the month of January 2023, the increase has been vertiginous and consequently the costs of goods and services have skyrocketed. Therefore, the country's teachers had no other choice but to take to the streets to show their discontent and demand a salary improvement according to the real economy of the country and, most relevant in this case, to dollarize the income of all workers.

Con el permiso de todos los hivers, especialmente mis seguidores. Me atreví a mostrar un poco la cruda realidad que se vive en las calles del país. Ahí también están mis ojos, visualizando un mejor mañana para todos y cada uno de los colegas que nos hemos dado cita en estos 23 días de protestas continuas en este pequeño rincón del mundo.
