Hello fellow Splinterlands warriors! It's zoe01@zoe01 here, back with another competitive journey of mine. If you had read my my last update then you would already know that recently I have planned to jump from Frontier mode to straight mode into Modern ranked matches. Also, dealing with the struggle to reach Bronze II.

Well, I do not feel demotivated if I lose, like it's a game and if one wins someone has to win right? Anyway, I have been continuing my grind in Modern mode and today's session brought even bigger wins. Not only that something else came up as well which is an exciting league promotion, I forgot to mention about the long-awaited deck upgrade which I can't stop to show you all.

Right now, I will give you a brief details about how I broke down the opponents team. And I officially marked my entry into the next competitive tier.

Stepping Into Modern Against ZAHEL

Mana Cap: 42 Mana
Ruleset: Standard
Active Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon

42-mana, I wouldn't say it was low, it was not high either. I felt lucky that all of the elements were available in the battlefield, I knew the competition would be exciting as my opponent was using a completely different lineup. I have never seen those cards before also how do they work. Not knowing exactly what an optimized automated setup would be against me, I decided to lean into the element I know best, which was death element.

My favourite Thalgrimore, I knew I could immediately shrink the enemy team's max health pool, because it's my lucky line up.

My Lineup Layout:

  • Summoner: Thalgrimore
  • Position 1: Nim Guard Captain (Melee tanking upfront)
  • Position 2: Spellmonger (No attack, utility placement)
  • Position 3: Sorrow Harvester (Magic attack)
  • Position 4: Vengeful Monk (Melee attack)
  • Position 5: Great Bear Druid (Melee + magic Attack)

My opponent brought a highly diverse lineup featuring mixed attack styles and I have not learned to do that yet. He also had heavy secondary buffers. However, Thalgrimore's immediate impact on their health bars shifted the pacing entirely in my favor.

The match ended faster, just in 4 rounds, it was quite faster than usual. My squad one by one took down their teammates. After a while in last round , my opponent's cards were completely wiped out and my team a beautiful victory!

In the end, I have successfully achieved a +40 rating and some glints. It was truly an incredible match. To be honest, I have lost 2 matches before so it felt great to win again.

Modern Bronze II Unlocked & Rewards Chests!

My team was pretty dominant and we achieved the victory which paid off in a massive way. After winning I got the +40 rating points. Even better, hitting exactly a 400 rating officially triggered my next milestone, which was Modern Bronze II, it was finally unlocked.

Overall stats, I have won 14 times and only 2 Losses in Modern mode so far a massive testament to how much smoother this climb has felt compared to my older Frontier grinds.

So, whenever you upgrade up your tier you would receive some chest rewards and I did too. As I just got into Bronze II it means I'm going to get better rewards from now on, so I immediately went to check it out because I couldn't wait anymore. This is my latest reward chests, here is what dropped:

  • 33 Merits
  • 1 Legendary Potion Charge
  • Anchor-Hex Adept

Deck Upgrade: Leveling Up Hungry Ulund!

After all of these, I went into my collection to check my cards. So, I found way to level up a card of mine.

So, the moment I saw that I have only 5 cards for Ulund then I wanted to combine 5 individual copies of it, Hungry Ulund in a few seconds was officially upgraded to Level 2! I’m currently at 0/9 cards on the path toward Level 3, but this immediate stat bump is going to be huge for my future tournament and ranked formats.

Lastly, I wanted to thank atnazo@atnazo for the gift. I have got some gold foil cards for the first time and all of them are my favourite cards. I'm going to cherish them as much as I can. So, as you can see all of them are level 3. But I've used it yet in any matches.

We have 3 days and 23 hours left in the current season, I have set my goals on on hitting Bronze I before the timer runs out.
