Hi, for this Splinterlands post I will talk about the Time Meddler card, it has recently arrived in the game through the Riftwatchers edition and acts on the battlefield as a mage (magical attack), but what stands out most about it is that even being a magic card it has an incredible utility in defense. Follow me on this post because I will explain how to use it in battles and why it is a great choice for your collection.

The first thing you need to know about Time Meddler is that it belongs in the health deck, so you are only able to use it in battles if you use a summoner from the life deck or a summoner from the dragon deck. His attack type is magic, his mana cost is 8 and he will be useful in both offense and defense, see more of his stats below.

In the image above you can get an overview of the card, such as abilities and stats at each level. When you see the image you can see why I said that this card will also be very useful in defense, since it has a high amount of health and shield, but its main highlight is in its abilities. In total, Time Meddler has 3 abilities which are Dodge, Return Fire and Thorns. Now I will explain how each of them works.

Abilities

The first ability is Dodge, this ability makes the Time Meddler increase by +25% the chances of dodging melee and ranged attacks. If you have already used or faced cards that have this ability then you should know that they dodge attacks a lot and you can be sure that making your opponent miss several attacks will give you a huge advantage in battles.

The second ability is Return Fire, this ability makes the Time Meddler return part of the damage received from ranged attacks, so if your opponent uses too many ranged cards in battle he will have big problems to win.

The third ability is Thorns, this ability makes Time Meddler do 2 damage when a melee card attacks him, just like Return Fire the Thorns ability will increase the amount of damage that Time Meddler can do in battle and if your opponent use a lot of melee cards then he will also have big problems to win.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages

The first advantage of having Time Meddler in battle is that you will have a very useful card against melee and ranged attacks because it has a good amount of shield and also because it will damage these cards when they attack you (remembering that Time Meddler only has the 3 abilities at level 10). The second advantage is that it has a lot of health and the ability to Dodge, so it won't be an easy card to defeat. The third advantage is that his attack is magical, so he will be able to ignore the shield of your opponent's cards and attack their life directly (only if the card he attacks doesn't have the Void Armor ability).

Disadvantages

The first downside of having Time Meddler in battle is its mana cost, it has a high cost so you won't be able to use it easily in battles with low available mana. The second downside is that he has a low attack, so he won't be able to do much damage in battle even if he's at max level.

How to get Time Meddler?

To have Time Meddler on the battlefield you have 3 options. The first option is to buy cards from him in the Splinterlands marketplace, the second option is to rent him in the Splinterlands marketplace and the last option is to buy packs from Riftwatchers and be lucky enough to get him.

As the Time Meddler is a common card so it won't be that hard to get it in Riftwatchers packs, the current price of the pack is 5$ + 1 Voucher in the Splinterlands shop.

You can also purchase the packs through the Hive Engine for a lower price, but you will not be eligible to participate in Riftwatchers airdrops.

If your choice is to buy the card then each Time Meddler BCX is costing $0.14, I don't consider it too high a value and I believe it has good potential to go up in price in the future (this is not an investment tip).

If your choice is to rent the Time Meddler then the price can be very variable as there aren't many cards of it still in circulation. In the case of Time Meddler level 10, it costs 119.77 DEC per day at the time of writing this post.

Riftwatchers cards are making a big difference in battles in Splinterlands these days, especially in the modern format. So I believe their value is still far from "stable", but this is something that only time will tell and again I will say that this is not an investment tip.

Given the Chaos Legion’s superior strength and numbers, the Riftwatchers needed to find other advantages if they were to have any hope of one day standing against them. Thus, over the years, they developed runic devices and techno-magic to chronicle the Legion’s tactics and strategies.

One such device is the clockwork amulet.

Time Meddlers use this amulet to apply what they’ve learned of the Chaos Legion on the battlefield, briefly stepping outside the flow of time to dodge an enemy’s attack or strike back against them.
The Riftwatchers raced across the battlefield, which was littered with broken war machines and the corpses of the fallen. Before them, the Chaos Legion’s archers stood at the head of the enemy’s column. Soon, they would launch volley after volley of arrows. Next, the frontline troops would march forth. The time meddler had trained for this very moment, and he knew their tactics well.

The archers raised their bows, and a hail of arrows arched through the air. The time meddler slid beneath a ruined trebuchet as the arrows fell around him. His allies raised their shields. Some cried out in pain and fell. One arrow pierced the time meddler’s shoulder, and he gasped, wincing in pain. He grasped the amulet hanging around his neck, and its gears and cogs turned. The arrow wrested itself free and flew back to the archer who had fired it. The projectile struck the man in the chest, and he toppled backward.

The time meddler hauled himself to his feet and raced on.

A series of warcries went up. The Chaos Legion’s frontline troops charged, and the Riftwatchers met them head on with a terrible ringing of steel. A legionnaire fought through their ranks, swinging her axe and cutting down all who stood in her way. Her gaze fell on the time meddler, and she charged. Once again, the time meddler grasped his amulet. The legionnaire swung her axe. The time meddler stepped nimbly to one side. The blade found only empty air.

The legionnaire reversed her swing. This time, the time meddler was not quite fast enough, but the wound was shallow. He used his amulet to reverse the attack. The legionnaire stumbled back as blood trickled down her brow.

She narrowed his eyes and hefted his axe. The time meddler gripped the clockwork amulet, planted his feet, and readied for a fight.
