Prismologist: Experts of Illusionary and Light- based Magic

Prismologist.png

Introduction

Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

I'm here again for this week's Share Your Battle Challenge with the featured card: Prismologist. It is a 8 mana- cost range splinter for the Life element with 3 range damage, 4 health, 2 armor but is incredibly slow with 2 speed at level 1. The catch is that it has the Blast ability which deals damage on monsters adjacent to its target.

The Battle that I will show to you is from my @crimepoet account which is currently playing on the Diamond II of the Modern Format but before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this card.

Lore

Prismologists are experts at illusory and light-based magic using prisms. Armed with their custom built prism, they bring them to the battlefield to manipulate magic around themselves. Light dances around them in a rainbow of colors as they lay waste to a bloody battlefield.

Those who wish to become Prismologists train at the Peace of Light Monastery from dawn until dusk with the goal of joining the order of the Spectrum Prism. Their mastery of light and glass allows them to perform spectacularly stunning and powerful magic.

In order to become a full-fledged Spectrum member and Prismologist, a spellcaster must craft their own Prism to use as a focus for their spells. Each summer solstice, future Prismologists journey from the Shimmer City to the deserts of Draykh Nahka to collect sand and create their own prism. Continue Reading...

Card Review

Prons

  • Will only received 1 damage from opponents with 5 or more damage with Forcefield.

  • Reduce magic damage of the opponent on the higher leagues with Silence.

  • Highly preferable to use on Aim True, Close Range and Reverse Speed rule sets.

Cons

  • Vulnerable from magic damage.

Battle Phase

image.png

For this battle, we have Noxious Fumes rule set where all monsters will received -2 Poison damage every turn and Reverse Speed where monsters with the lowest speed attack first. Thinking of this, I choose the following line- up:

  • The Summoner Grandmaster Rathe that gives +1 armor as well as Void Armor which prevents magic attacks to pass through armor so that it can tank all types of attacks though the Amplify which increase the effects of reflected damage will be useless for me for this battle.

  • I use Legionnaire Alvar for my tank as it has huge health and has armor. The slow Speed also makes it as an ideal tank for the Reverse Speed rule set.

  • For the 2nd position, I use the Corsair Bosun that though is not that slow, also has decent health and armor and also deals huge melee damage with the Reach ability that allows it to attack at the 2nd position.

  • The 3rd position, I placed Adelade Brightwing has the Immunity ability which makes it immune on all negative status effects and it can Repair the armor of my monster. The Ressurect ability will revive a defeated monster from my team with all negative status effect on it removed though it also has the Swiftness ability which makes my team a little faster.

  • For my 4th card, I use High Priest Darius as this card also has the Ressurect ability and with weaken, it will lessen the health of all opponent monsters by -1.

  • On the 5th position, I use Venari Crystalsmith so that it can use Tank Heal on Legionnaire Alvar.

  • The last member of my team will be the featured monster for the Share Your Battle Challenge which was the Prismologist with the Blast to deal more damage on the enemy and it was also very slow which is suited for the rule set.

image.png

On the first round, every monster was still on play but it might seem like I was at a disadvantage as all the armor from Legionnaire Alvar was lost and the Blast damage from Prismologist causes it to damage it due to the Return Fire from Time Meddler.

image.png

On round 2, both of our tanks were defeated but was resurrected, the reason why I choose Legionnaire Alvar as it will came back without any negative status effects on it and back with the same armor although, Prismologist has its armor completely removed due to Return Fire damage.

image.png

Going through round 3, both tanks were defeated but also Prismologist was taken down due to the Return Fire but was resurrected again, meanwhile, the culprit for its defeat, Time Meddler was also taken down this round, relieving Prismologist which is now without any negative status effects relieved from any reflected damage.

image.png

On round 4, the opponent only has Adelade Brightwing and Magi of Chaos since we manage to defeat Djinn Renova while the opponent's Prismologist dies due to the poison at the beginning of the round.

image.png

It should have ended on round 5 as Magi of Chaos dies due to poison at the beginning of the round but a miracle occurs an both attacks from Prismologist and Corsair Bosun miss.

image.png

Finally, on round 6, we achieved the long awaited win with Prismologist dealing the final blow to the opponent.

Battle Recap

Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at 3speak or in Splinterlands.

life.png

Did your Strategy Work?

My strategy this time is an endurance game on who will last long when under the poison effect and it seams like the use of Prisomologist has been a huge health of dealing more damage on my opponent and the fact that it has low health makes it able to die and be resurrected which at the end allows this card to be removed from any negative status effects.

life.png

Do You Like Prismologist

The blast ability as well as the silence from Prismologist are actually very helpful on many ovations but the slow speed makes it attacks less likely to hit on most rule sets so I will most likely used it on rule sets like Aim True and Reverse Speed where hitting targets are more likely to happen.

life.png

What will you try differently next time?

Summoners

On a different occasion, I would like to try using Prismologist together with General Sloan, Selenia Sky or Archmage Arius to make it's range damage more powerful which also increases the blast damage that it can inflict to the opponent. It will also be an ideal if I can use it together with Iltain, Lux Vega, and Byzantine Kitty for the additional speed plus the additional stats and abilities that this summoners give on the card specially with Byzantine Kitty that makes all attacks hit thier targets.
