With today's Townhall, Splinterlads has revealed the next Legendary Earth airdrop card for Riftwatchers. I was expecting that there will be 2 card stats reveal for this Townhall as the team keeps pushing the sale for Chaos Legion packs with the holiday sale which includes a Promo Card and we are also less than 300k packs away from the next Legendary Water summoner airdrop. Either way, one thing we forgot is that we are also more than 100k packs away for the next Riftwatches Legendary Earth monster which is the one who's stats are revealed today. The name of the card is Ancient Redwood which is an Earth Element range card with 11 mana- cost. In order to have a guaranteed airdrop, one must have bought at least 225 packs using SPS and Vouchers and it only has 4% chance of being a gold foil. Otherwise, buying individual pack will only give you 0.44% chance of pulling the airdrop card.

Ancient Redwood
Lore
Legend has it that the Ancient Redwood began his life aeons ago as the only nut to fall from the Elder Tree and take root beneath its massive canopy of leaves and branches. His name has been lost to memory, even to himself.
They say he is the Father of the Forests and, without him, the Splinterlands would be a barren and desolate place.
They say he created the first treefolk by breaking off his own limbs and breathing life into his children.
They say he exhaled the first motes of earthen mana into the world.
They say that, during the Splintering, he alone held together the continent of Anumun and is why it did not fracture into a thousand pieces or sink into the sea.
They say his slumber lasts for generations, and when he awakens, you and your children's children's children will have been long forgotten.
They say he is a friend to the fey, a guardian of the natural order of things, and lo, pity to those who threaten that which he holds dear.
They say that, when the Chaos Legion came and swept across Anumun, there came a great stirring. The Ancient Redwood had awoken, and he was not pleased.
But these are only legends.
Use Case
Summoner Choice
In terms of summoner, the use of Prince Renyn will allow this card to gain +1 Range, +1 Speed, and +1 Health while Fernheart will give this card the Close Range ability which allow this card to attack at the 1st position as well as +1 additional health. We also have the summoners Selenia Sky and Archmage Arius from the Dragon Element that will also increase the Range damage of this card.
Abilities and Rule Sets
Ancient Redwood is an 11 Mana Earth Legendary card with 1 Speed, 9 Health and 5 Range attack at level 1 as well as the True Strike which causes the attack of this card to never miss even against the opponents with Blind Dodge and Flying which increases the evasion chance of a monster despite being a very slow monster. Because of this, this card becomes very suitable for Reverse Speed rule set where the slowest monsters gets to attack first.
As it reached level 2, it health becomes 10 and gains the Reflection Shield ability which makes it immune to indirect damage like Blast that ne will encounter when facing against the summoner Yodin Zaku or when playing under the Explosive Weaponry rule set and Return Fire which is a reflected damage that also makes it unaffected when playing with Fire & Regret rule set or when facing against summoners Iltain and Lir Deepswimmer.
At level 3, it gains +1 health, making it have a total of 11 health while also gaining the Fury ability. This ability deals 2x the damage against opponents with Taunt ability such as Mycelic Slipspawn and Coeurl Lurker.
When it reached the max level, it will have the max range damage of 6 and gain the Piercing ability which allows this card's attack to go through the opponent's armor.
This will be also something to consider to use when there is an Keep Your Distance rule set where melee monster cannot be used or Lost Magic where magic monsters were banned.
Within the new rule sets, it is a good alternative against Briar patch where every monster have the Thorns ability and Counter Magic where monsters have the Magic Reflect ability.
Card Positioning
With it's huge health, this can serve as tank when using the summoner Fernheart otherwise, maybe a tertiary tank if you know the opponent will focus fire on the front or will use monsters with Snipe ability or as backline tank against Sneak opponents when using other summoners.
When against Yodin Zaku or playing with Explosive Weaponry rule set it can be positioned on the 2nd position then use Agor Longtail and Coeurl Lurker with the Taunt as tank or be at the 5th position with Mycelic Slipspawn as the back- line tank.
