Share your Battle : Hill Giant

Hi Splinterfans!

This is my first-time entry into a Share your Battle Weekly Challenge! More details about the challenge can be found here.

In my battle I used the regular foil Hill Giant. You can see his stats below.

He has at level 1 just a 1 melee attack and speed score, but what I like about him is that he costs just 3 mana and has 6 health points. This can come in useful when I want him to take a few hits "for the team"!

This can spare the health of the main attackers and can come in useful in many situations. The only downside is that he cannot attack the back row at all, so by choosing him, I do lose out on an attack score each round.

However, this is not all bad if I am playing the Summoner Mylor Crowley. This is because, for each attack, they receive the thorns ability after each attack. This can reduce the attacker's health by 2 for each successful attack. Therefore this can be a double bonus of holding Hill Giant.

Hill Giant is also very cheap to rent or buy. Usually, you can rent him for 0.1 DEC or buy him for around $0,03ish. Therefore, it wouldn't break the bank and you have another card to add to your arsenal.

My Team

Summoner/ MonsterReason
Mylor CrowleyHe is my choice of Summoner because of his Thorns ability
HarvesterWith his low mana cost for a high attack and health score, he is the perfect tank
BiceratopsWith his low cost and decent attack and health score, with opportunity he is a great addition in the back row
Fungus FiendWith a 0 mana cost, he is a no-brainer to include to deflect attention from the big hitters
Mycelic MorphoidWith his low cost and the opportunity bonus, he is a great addition to the team. The perfect cannon fodder
Hill GiantWith his 6 health plus opportunity, he can take some hits while Harverster and Biceratops try and finish the enemy off
Vampire BatOne that doesn't make the team very often. I have included him here to make up the numbers

Battle

The rules for the battle are:

Luckily my Earth Splinter was allowed to play. The mana was 19, so there was no possibilty to play any big hitters. All monsters have equal opportunity. Now when I saw this equal opportunity, the same as if they start with poision, I think it is time to bring out the Hill Giant.

This is because he can take a few hits for the team with his big health at low mana cost and here he can also provide an opportunity to attack from the back row!

Watch the Battle

You can see I am up against Regal Peryton who is very good at evading with wings against non-flying monsters. As there is the opportunity ability, they have opted to put their main tank Grund on the back row. This guy is dangerous with his double attack with a 3 strength! Their final guy Mycelic Morphoid is quite weak and shouldn't pose much of a threat, although with opportunity attack, he will increase the enemy's attacking score.

After round 1, you can see that I have lost 2 of my canon fodder monsters and their Grund monster has lost 4 health. Things are looking ominous. So far the Hill Giant hasn't been touched yet and can still come in use.

After round 2, you can see that their Grund monster is almost gone with just 1 health left. Their tank has lost half its health but holds on for the moment. My tank dealing a 3 melee attack has lost half its health and is ready to strike. Hill Giant hasn't taken any hits as I had planned yet with full health still! This will be worrying my enemy.

In the end, after just 3 rounds, I am victorious and romp home to victory. Harvester and Hill Giant are still standing.

Do you use Hill Giant?

Thanks for reading.
