Happy Monday everyone, friends of Hive & Needle Work Monday. I hope you had a great weekend and were able to move forward with your favorite needle projects. Here I am still excited about having been reunited with my sewing machine after so many months, so I continue firmly with the projects I have in mind. Sewing is an activity that relaxes and stresses me in equal parts, but at the end of the day I'm always happy to complete my work, both creative and functional 😃.

Por acá sigo emocionada con el hecho de haberme reencontrado con mi máquina de coser después de tantos meses, así que continúo firme con los proyectos que tengo en mente. La costura es una actividad que me relaja y estresa en partes iguales, pero al final del día siempre me alegra completar mis trabajos, tantos los creativos como los funcionales 😃.
Continuing with my project from last Monday, this weekend I got back to work on my $5 red snow pants. Due to your recommendations, in the end I decided not to adjust the legs and make it loose so I could walk comfortably. But what I definitely had to do was adjust the cuff because the elastic was quite stretched. Doing this was a bit of a headache because these pants have a professional level of construction and I was afraid of unstitching them and not being able to sew them properly again 🙃.
Continuando con mi proyecto del lunes pasado, este fin de semana volví a poner manos a la obra con mi pantalón rojo de nieve de $5. Debido a las recomendaciones de ustedes, al final decidí no ajustar las piernas y que se quede holgado para poder caminar cómodamente. Pero lo que definitivamente tenía que hacer era ajustarle el puño porque el elásticos estaba bastante estirado. Hacer esto fue un pequeño dolor de cabeza porque este pantalón tiene un nivel de confección profesional y me daba miedo descoserlo y no poder volver a coserlo bien 🙃.
It took me a while until I figured out how to resolve this issue. First I wanted to sew a new elastic on top of the old elastic and it didn't work. Then I wanted to trim the old elastic to make it shorter and stretch it again and that didn't work either. Finally, I ended up cutting out all the old elastic, creating a small space between the fabric to place the new elastic so that it wrinkles the fabric. That did work, although it wasn't as aesthetically pleasing on the inside, but it doesn't matter because you can't see it when I have it on 😅.
Estuve un buen rato hasta que le encontré la vuelta sobre como resolver este asunto. Primero quise coser un elástico nuevo encima del elástico viejo y no funcionó. Después quise recortar el elástico viejo para que quede más corto y volver a estirarlo y tampoco funcionó. Finalmente, terminé recortando todo el elástico viejo, armé un pequeño espacio entre la tela para colocar el elástico nuevo y que arrugue la tela. Eso sí que funcionó, aunque no quedó tan estético en la parte de adentro pero no importa porque no se ve cuando lo tengo puesto 😅.

This weekend I went to the fair again but this time in search of a new snow jacket. It's not that mine is bad, but I've had it for more than 10 years and it already appears in all my travel photos. It is still in good condition and functional, but I have the idea of changing it for purely photographic reasons. I know it will be difficult to find one with the same technical quality and that is not so expensive, but I'm going to try it. In my search, I found this one that looked good and the same color as the snow pants, so I took it home for only $4. As you can see, there are very good things at this second-hand fair (perhaps because in Buenos Aires we don't have snow so no one is interested in keeping these clothes) 😂.
Este fin de semana volví a ir a la feria pero esta vez en busca de una nueva campera de nieve. No es que la mía esté mal, pero es que la tengo hace más de 10 años y ya aparece en todas mis fotos de viaje. Aún esta en buen estado y es funcional, pero tengo la idea de cambiarla por una cuestión meramente fotográfica. Sé que será difícil encontrar una con la misma calidad técnica y que no sea tan costosa, pero voy a intentarlo. En mi búsqueda, encontré esta que se ve bien y del mismo color que el pantalón de nieve, así que la llevé a casa por solo $4. Como ven, se encuentran muy buenas cosas en esta feria de segunda mano (quizás porque en Buenos Aires no tenemos nieve entonces a nadie le interesa conservar estas prendas) 😂.
The jacket only had three defects to fix and is now ready for use. The first was the unstitched buckles on the sleeves, the second was the zipper pin that I already replaced and third, there is a missing cord at the bottom that I still can't find, but I will soon. This week we are having a polar wave in Argentina, and Saturday night was the coldest day of our year, so it was good for me to try the jacket. Unfortunately, it turned out that it's not warm at all, so it doesn't meet the requirements of replacing my original snow jacket. If this week I don't get a matching jacket, once again I will have a new round of photos with my usual humble jacket 😂.
La campera solo tenía tres desperfectos que solucionar y ya está lista para el uso. El primero era los abrojos descosidos en las mangas, el segundo el pasador del cierre que ya lo reemplacé y tercero, falta un cordón en la parte inferior que aún no lo consigo, pero pronto lo haré. Esta semana estamos teniendo en Argentina una ola polar, y precisamente el sábado a la noche fue el día más frío de nuestro año, por lo que me vino bien para probar la campera. Lamentablemente, resultó que no es para nada abrigada, así que no cumple con los requisitos de reemplazar a mi campera de nieve original. Si en esta semana no consigo una campera acorde, una vez más tendré una ronda de fotos nueva con mi humilde campera de siempre 😂.
Lastly, this weekend I was working on the outfit for the baby doll that I found in Bariloche. This will be a gift for my niece, so I wanted it to be cute for a 4-year-old girl. During my previous trip many people told me that it was something terrifying and then many others said it again here in Hive. But I still see charm in it, so he deserves a good outfit (I also smoked with incense it to remove any spirit that might be attached to it) 😂.
Por último, este fin de semana estuve trabajando en el outfit para el muñeco bebé que me encontré en Bariloche. Este será un regalo para mi ahijada, así que quería que quedara tierno para una nena de 4 años. Durante mi viaje anterior muchas personas me dijeron que era algo terrorífico y luego otros tantos lo volvieron a decir acá en Hive. Pero aún sigo viendo encanto en él, así que se merece un buen atuendo (igualmente lo sahumé para que se le quite cualquier espíritu que pueda tener pegado) 😂.

For this baby I made a simple dress using the old elastic I took from the red pants. I made a gathered rectangle and then added some strips with some buttons for more decoration. Her head seemed pretty empty to me, so I also made a headband out of a bow. I had never made a baby outfit and it was easy to make this one, so I was entertained for a while 😅.
Para este bebé hice un vestido sencillo usando el elástico viejo que saqué de los pantalones rojos. Hice un rectángulo fruncido y luego le puse unas tiras con unos botones para más decoración. Me parecía que su cabeza estaba bastante vacía, así que también hice una vincha con un moño. Nunca había hecho un outfit de bebé y fue fácil hacer este, así que estuve entretenida un buen rato 😅.
Personally, I think that now with clothes the doll looks a little cuter. My travel friends saw it on my social media and laughed, although they questioned his gender switch since we called him "little Timmy" for four months. The truth is that it is easier to make a dress than a suit for a boy, so now little Timmy is going to have a new identity. I would like to know @sofathana's opinion now, since in my previous post she called him a scary doll 😂.
Personalmente, creo que ahora con ropa el muñeco se ve un poco más tierno. Mis amigos de viaje lo vieron en mis redes sociales y se rieron, aunque cuestionaron su cambio de género ya que lo llamamos "el pequeño Timmy" durante cuatro meses. La verdad es que es más sencillo hacer un vestido que algún traje para varón, así que ahora pequeño Timmy va a tener una nueva identidad. Me gustaría saber la opinión de @sofathana ahora, ya que en mi publicación anterior lo llamó tenebroso muñeco 😂.
The last thing I was doing was oiling the machine a little, because I don't know if it's very slow or if I need it to sew a little faster. Perhaps it needs a little preventive maintenance, since it has not been checked by a specialist since the pandemic. Anyway, it's still working and I hope it will allow me to finish future projects before I have to travel again. In the meantime, I'm glad to have finished these and to be able to share them here once again 💕.
Lo último que estuve haciendo fue aceitar un poco la máquina, porque no sé si es que anda muy lenta o que yo ya necesito que cosa un poco más rápido. Quizás necesita un pequeño mantenimiento preventivo, ya que no la revisa un especialista desde la pandemia. Como sea, todavía sigue funcionando y espero que me permita terminar los proyectos futuros que vengan antes de tener que ir de viaje de nuevo. Mientras tanto, estoy contenta por haber concluido estos y por poder compartirlos acá una vez más 💕.
